I was a return customer
This was my second-time lodging in this hotel. Though my gut feeling is that it is more a 4-star than a 5-star hotel, it's still value for money (by 4* standard) and the location is good. Given the choice, I would love to return to this hotel again in my future Beijing trip.

Management Need To Learn Courtesy From Houskeeping Staff
It is with some sadness that I find myself writing a VERY negative report on The Capital Hotel. We have stayed there many times previously, and until now HAD considered it our first choice for Beijing visits and stopovers. But on this occasion I found the reception staff rude, unhelpful, arrogant and the duty manager extremely officious! We were allocated a room at the furthest reaches of the hotel in Tower B, which involved what seemed like an almost half mile walk. When we ( carrying our own luggage ) got to the room, it was not prepared, and still in a dirty un-cleaned state. When I complained and asked for another room...preferably nearer the central hotel amenities, we were told in an extremely arrogant and officious manner that "that is what you paid for, so we will not change it for anything nearer or different, and If you are unhappy about it...contact your booking agency." It seems that Tower B contains what they obviously regard ( but will not admit to ) as their inferior rooms ( which are let through online agencies like Agoda for example ). The rooms in Tower A are the better rooms, which they hold back for clients who have not booked online ( at a discount ). The most polite, helpful and genuinely warm and welcoming person we encountered at The Capital Hotel...was our room housekeeper. She was a lovely person, who assisted us in every possible way, and did it without a moment's hesitation. She should quite frankly be promoted and re-assigned to teaching the 'front of hotel' staff how to behave towards and interact with guests. What a pity that the hotel reception staff and management...need to study and learn from how the housekeeping staff interact with guests, in order to 'up their game'.

It's more like a four star hotel.
The room is quite comfortable.

Very Nice Hotel
Impressive lobby, big size room and location
This is the second time we stayed at this hotel and loved it. We stayed two nights this time and were given a nice room on higher floor. We arrived midnight and the front office staff was so helpful in accommodating us. We had dinner at the Restaurant and food is nice and price reasonable. Music from the pianist at the nearby lobby complemented our dinner. But the only thing that puts me off is when one of the front desk staff gave us a non-English speaking (and could not even understand) shuttle driver on our way to Tianjin,China. I was promised a driver who at least understands, let alone speak, English. I paid CNY3,800 for the service to take me and my wife and 8 other people in our party to Tianjin, China via the Great Wall. He got lost and stops unnecessarily and cost us heaps.
