Manila being the capital city of the Philippines, is a busy city where you can experience a lot of things from food, shopping, spa and relaxation to entertainment and night life.
Be sure to know or research first the exact places where you want to go. Anywhere can be safe or either be dangerous, you should just be always be careful and mindful about where you are going and who you are dealijg with.
There's nothing much to do in Manila actually, since there're no nice beaches or places for sightseeing, the only attraction could be the malls for shopping and dining.
The air quality is pretty bad, and the traffic is a nightmare, also have to be careful when you try to get a taxi, only meter taxis charge fairly. Me and my friend even had a fight with a taxi driver that he tried to scam us.
Manila as a whole is rich in history, and culture in the old districts like intramuros, sta cruz, binondo.
Has multiple markets from cheap but plenty street markets of quiapo and divisoria, to the luxury malls in Makati. Has a great nightlife experience, many resto bars, night clubs etc. Has different spa, from clean massage to sketchy ones, so better be aware. But a bit polluted and dirty and always traffic. Also better always keep your belongings with you as there are many thieves around. And some areas may be dangerous at night.
Manila is just around 3 hours travel from Pangasinan Province where we came from. It is easily reached via the TPLEX, SCTEX and NLEX Route.
It is practical to travel early in the morning to avoid traffic congestion...
Going to Manila is like reliving Philippine History. The streets in Manila are narrow that you can enjoy strolling around like following the footsteps of Jose Rizal up to his monument in Luneta.
Manila is Manila. Crazily crowded and poluted. To be seen, but dont spend to much time here and be prepared that this city is a true hellhole.
The city has many interesting areas, but the traffic makes travel between those areas difficult and slow.
If you want to experience the sights and smells of Manila without having to get on a plane, the climb into the sewer outside your house, and you'll instantly feel like you're there.

My advise..you'll never never know if you never never go!
It's better to travel in the afternoon when it's not to hot. If you are using a taxi to commute use GRAB TAXI or UBER just to be safe from over pricing taxi drivers.
metro manila with about 15 mill inhabitants. No concept for traffic, annoying situaton. Try to get a taxi where driver use meter.
Weekdays from airport they make offers for a 30 min ride 1500 peso, 800 peso, be happy with 500 0r 400.
great place for couples and single people, familys no good, unless if your kids are teenagers, because the people in manila, there are beggers and the place isnt that clean so age is important, child can catch germs if there not careful aspecially if u live in clean country, if your a teenager and older you are more aware of bad situations, because of our maturity when it comes to the things around you, you have more control over your surroundings, couple are great for the place if u want to relax and enjoy yourself if you want romance, great for singles as u will enjoy the night life or sight seeing, and maybe finding a relationship if thats what your looking for.
Manila is great place to shop dine and entertanment us suprb most specially the casinos and the night life.
Although traffic is really bad. It is great place to go
There are two Manila's. Greater Manila, and the suburb of Manila. The city is poorly planned, or probably not planned.
Except for a few specific suburbs or subdivisions. Traffic is appalling, with many roads choked during the working day (9 am to 9 pm). Be prepared for a maximum of two meeting per day, max. Pollution is high, garbage everywhere, footpaths in poor condition, dangerous and/or impassable because of street vendors and parked vehicles.
Manila is a city very rich in culture and history. Filipinos are very friendly and accommodating. Eveyone can enjoy shopping at very cheap prices, from food to clothes, accessories, jewelries.
..etc. Every foreigner who comes here can always find a reason to come back.
Need to be familiar with where you are going to. Can be unsafe if you are not familiar with the Manila Bay (old Manila) area.
Advisable to hire a car for the day if you are not familiar with Manila.
I always like to visit Manila especially for shopping. However the traffic is horrible and getting a ride can be very stressful.
Lately, I make it a point to stay in the area where most of my business is and transfer to a hotel near the airport. It is more convenient and less hassle.
