Beautiful location in the Douro Valley!”
We treated ourselves to one night at this beautiful hotel. The rooms were simple but lovely and the service was attentive. The setting was outstanding as was our dinner at the restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised by the wine tasting included with our room. Our only complaint was our afternoon relaxing by the pool was constantly interrupted by loud children playing and screaming. It was a definite conflict with the peaceful setting.

We had a very relaxing time a Casa das Pipas set in the middle of acres of vinyard. The evening meals were excelent all served by a very knowledgable waiter with wines paired to perfection with every course. The lounge areas were very cosy and comfortable with log fires ablaze every evening (we were there in early March so got a bit chilly in the evenings). The wine tour of the Quinta do Portal was agreat insight into the running of a large estate.
Would we return, in a heart beat, already planning to make our escape to this little bit of paradise.
