We arrived in Melaka on New Years day feeling a little worse for wear after a 4-hour bus trip from Singapore sporting mild hangovers. As we drove into Melaka I must admit to being a little nervous about our three night stay and wondered if the Casa del Rio was as good as it looked on the net. I shouldn’t have worried … it ended up being one of my all time favourite holidays. Upon arrival we were given a spot by the lago (a beautiful water feature area) as well as cold drinks, scented face towels and a refreshing sweet iced ginger/lime snack. We were then taken to our rooms where the beautiful Renny ran us through every facility and feature of the rooms and hotel. In many years of travelling, this was the first time I experienced such service. The rooms are both beautiful and functional with a great bathroom, exotic décor and lots of quirky little touches (such as the little rubber duck for the good-sized bath). We explored the hotel that afternoon and found ourselves on the roof enjoying a swim and drinks while the sun set over the Malacca Straights and the lights of the river city came on. This became our daily ritual. The staff at Casa del Rio are amazing – polite, friendly, helpful and, most impressively, happy. The one time there was a mix-up with a dinner order at the excellent hotel restaurant, two of the staff bought a small tray of desserts to our room – I was very impressed. Our stay in Melaka was an incredible experience made all the more enjoyable by the service and luxury provided by the Casa de Rio. When it came time to leave, it was like saying goodbye to a great bunch of new friends – I can’t wait to return.
First-class luxury at fairly affordable rates!”
Loved the check-in system, where guests enjoy local treats at the Lago while staff checks you in and breakfast was excellent, although it'd be nice to get more variety of buffet choices. The room simply took our breath away - from the spacious sleeping area to the equally spacious toilet with rainforest shower and the closet area. Oh and the "onde-onde" which was another welcome treat in the room was the cherry on top to our stay at Casa Del Rio. Another wonderful concept of the hotel is the "My Personal Melaka" journal, where guests of each room record their experience of Malacca for other guests to read and also share. Definitely will come back to Casa del Rio!
Five-star hotel with six-star service”
Casa del Rio has the best possible location in Melaka - by the riverside right next to the visitor magnets of Jalan Tan Cheng Lock and Jonkers Street, with the historical Stadthuys and others sights a few more steps away. What's most impressive about the hotel is its service. You're greeted with smiles, and staff are generally knowledgeable and try their best to be helpful. Our rooms came with breakfast, and we were pleasantly surprised to find this is a buffet-a la carte combination. Cereals, fruit and such things, including congee, are available as a buffet, and you choose your main course from the menu. What most surprised us were the little extra service touches - like the complimentary overnight cleaning of your car windshield and windows and the supply not just of hand moisturiser but also mouthwash in the restrooms in the public areas. Casa del Rio is among the most expensive hotels in Melaka but you get your money's worth.
Great staying experience in Casa del Rio Melaka”
We had a great and wonderful stay experience in Casa del Rio Melaka hotel. The welcome reception is great where we are given refreshing towel and ice-cream. The room is large and very well-decorated. We love the swimming pool that gives us aerial view of the nearby places of attractions and the river with lovely boats. The breakfast buffet selection is great and we like the main course selection that comes with it. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Accessibility to Jonker Market is a plus to this holiday as it is just within walking distance. The only minus point is driving to this hotel as a foreigner as navigation is a challenge due to closure of certain roads around Jonker Market. Nevertheless, we will not hesitate to recommend this great hotel to our friends who are planning to go to Malacca for their holidays.
The best hotel to stay at in Melaka, I give it 5 ***** Stars.”
From check in to check out, all good at the Casa del Rio Melaka Hotel. With breakfast having two options to order from the buffet and or their multiple selections on their menu. Plenty to eat before starting your day. What can I say about their 3rd floor pool bar and swimming pool area. I can say a lot, their pool man service was much better than the Ritz-Carlton Jakarta by about 5 stars. My man Aryo was always watching out for his guests by bringing them cold water, watermelon slices and cold mint scented face towels upon your arrival to the seating areas. Mas Aryo is bilingual and can help each guests with food or beverage orders or just bringing extra ice when you need it. The AirCon was perfect my room (202) and kept me so very close comfortable during my 2 day stay. This hotel actually has the most unique Bed Pillow Menu I have ever seen in all of hotel stays. I loved my pillow and mattress which allowed me two greats nights of sleeping. Awesome management for sure
Dear Chris, Thank you for taking your time to provide us with such a positive review. We are delighted to hear that you have a pleasant stay with us especially on our hospitality from Bar Sol. We are looking forward to welcome you back to your home by the river. Warm Regards Michael Quay Hotel Manager
Great central location”
Our stay at the Casa del Rio Melaka was lovely. The hotel is located on the river and is in easy walking distance to the major attractions in Melaka. When we stayed, there was not a particularly good view of the river as construction was underway directly opposite, however this should be temporary. The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast is nice, but not the best I had in Malaysia. The hotel in general has a lot of character due to its Villa like feel. We stayed in the courtyard view room and the river view room. I actually liked the courtyard view room better eventhough it was cheaper. A few negative comments are, the pool is rather small for the size of the hotel and was generally overcrowded so you are lucky to get a banana lounge. We also found it a bit intrusive how often staff came into the room to do tasks, i.e they come in for housekeeping (this is a given) but they also come in to deliver some native sweets in the mid arvo, then they come in again to light some candles and turn down the room after dusk.
My husband and I decided to make an impromptu trip to Malacca for the weekend. We were very happy to find that rooms were available at Casa del Rio. We booked a river view deluxe room and it was beautiful. The room was large and very comfortable. We made use of all the amenities like the big bathtub and the balcony which overlooks the river. The breakfast selection was excellent: lovely coffees, fresh fruits with many types of honey, eggs done a variety of way. We spent an indulgent morning by the river having breakfast. The staff was also friendly and approachable. Because we drove from Singapore to Malacca, we parked our car at the hotel's basement and not only did they validate our parking, they even clean our windscreen. Yes, the hotel is filled with thoughtful little touches like that. A wonderful day. Will definitely return!
Comfy room with a relaxing riverfront view”
We had a warm welcome with a surprising service right after arriving the hotel. While waiting for our check-in procedure, we were seated on a bench at the hotel's pretty garden. Before long, two small bowls of sherbet with a pretty tropical flower in a basket were brought to us. It was a pleasant surprise! The ginger-flavored sherbet was tasty, quenched our thirst and cool off our body temperature on a scorching hot day. We had a good impression of the hotel from the beginning. All staff were kind, the room was satisfactory where we could enjoy the view of the river from the balcony. We also appreciated the clean bathtub with bath salt that relieve our fatigue after lots of walk around the town. We really enjoyed staying at Casa del Rio Melaka Hotel. We'd like to visit there again sometime.
Perfect in every aspects ”
I went there with my boyfriend to have a one day trip at Malacca. I looked thru many hotel information and finally decided to stay at Casa del Rio. Their service are good! Environment are very comfortable with big space, huge washroom I would say, and also a balcony to chill out no matter in the morning or at night... The design of the room is unique. The bathroom is linked to everywhere.. I was amazed! They even gave me a little bear bear as a gift... Lovely service!! Although the price is slightly higher.. But it's definitely worth it.. The feel of comfortability is what I am looking for as a traveller.. I will visit Casa again if I have a chance to visit Malacca! Miss yea!!
Great location, cosy rooms and fantastic breakfast”
This is our 3rd visit to Casa Del Rio, and this time we went back family members booking 5 rooms. The ages of in our group spanned from a toddler to 89 years. We drove up from Singapore and directly into the hotel's basement car park. The proximity of the hotel to the shopping at Jonker and the Fort allowed us to hop back to the hotel easily whenever we needed. On arrival, a couple of us went to check-in whilst the rest of the family were served cold towels and ice sorbet at the waiting area next to the courtyard. A leaf was on the drinks tray with a handwritten message "Welcome back, Mr ..... ...". Room was large and luxuriously fitted and we fitted 2A2C comfortably in there with an extra bed. I particularly liked the comfortable cushion chairs and side tables in the balcony where I could lounge in comfort with my laptop. Unfortunately, the hotel WIFI was misbehaving that day and I had to resort to using data roaming, but I did not have this problem on my previous visits. Breakfast was a buffet of Asian and Western spreads, with a choice of an A La Carte dish per guest. I had Eggs Benedict while my wife had an Eggs Florentine with Cappuccino. Staff were friendly and the restaurant manager was present making sure that all was well. After checkout the next day, we picked up our cars from the basement. There was a little note stuck to the windscreen telling us that the hotel had cleaned our windscreen for us. Little touches like this throughout our stay showed that the hotel management was out to make our stay in hotel memorable. Despite its price, this is definitely my favourite hotel in Melaka.
Great hotel and enjoyable stay”
It was a truly enjoyable experience and as a returning hotel guest, the entire crew at Casa del Rio did not disappoint me. The service standard was excellent and I have nothing else to ask for. I will certainly make Casa del Rio my only choice of accommodation when I visit Malacca again!! During the first day of our stay, my mother had a fall when we were out for sightseeing. The hotel staff immediately arranged for us to be sent to the nearest specialist hospital for a thorough check-up. The hotel staff stayed with us throughout, so as to render assistance where necessary. I was very thankful for the help.
Fantastic hotel with great customer service”
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Casa del Rio. When travelling I have found that it is the small things that make a difference and this hotel does them well - huge soft towels, long fluffy bathrobe and soft slippers, candles and oil burner lit at night, daily weather details, good toiletries and lots more. Staff are friendly and helpful. I loved the library with good variety of reading material and complimentary refreshments - a good place to relax out of the heat. There are lots of outdoor seating areas and the restaurants & bar serve best hotel food I had in Malaysia. Hotel is walking distance to many of Melaka's attractions. I received nice farewell gift on departure which was lovely. I would not hesitate to return to Case del Rio and recommend others to stay there when visiting Melaka.
A hotel which feels like home”
The stay at Casa del Rio was fantastic. It was the first time for me staying at this hotel after visiting malacca so many times. I was greeted warmly by the staff. A complimentary ice cream desert was given to me while the staff were preparing for my check in. After check in was done, I was lead to my room by a friendly staff. She explained clearly to me of all the facilities in the room. Nice king size bed, big flat screen tv, and the most important is the cleanliness of the room. Toilet inside has a big bath tub and a shower room. Shower gel and shampoo where provided in a nice ceremic bottle. The hotel was located walking distance from Jonker Street. It's really an enjoyable stay in this hotel and I would surely go back to stay again. Saying so much here is no use, try it yourself and you will understand what Im trying to say.
An amazingly warm welcome from the Casa del Rio team sets the tone for the rest of the stay here. The whole place has the feel of a luxurious Mediterranean villa and great attention has gone to ensure that small touches are given to make your stay even more specific. Magical? Not quite. Whilst they rely on their rustic charm, things like really hot showers, the softness of their towels, the inconvenience of the positioning of the lights in the room, the selection for breakfast and the swimming pool bar not being open just took an edge off what would have been a perfect stay. Still, I can recommend the traditional massage, the beds are comfortable, the provision good and the rooms not only spacious, but each with their very own balcony does make this the only place in Malacca to stay.
Will return again”
Booked the River Suite, with one master (king bed), 2nd bedroom (queen bed) and a living / dining room with balcony overlooking the river. The stuff added many small and personal touches that did make guests feel welcome. Exemple: Personal note in room awaiting our arrival. Welcome fruit platter and dessert The stuff were polite and professional and took initiate to show us the way to our room or toilet and introduced the in-room facilities. Love Love Love the roof top infinity pool which gave us a good view of malacca city. We caught the beautiful sunset in the evening. Too bad it was cloudy in the morning. Conveniently located. About 5mins walk to Jonker yet very peaceful and quiet. Highly recommend Casa Del Rio to anyone with the budget!
Hotel that feels like home... of the rich & famous”
From the get-go I was very excited to stay at the Casa Del Rio after reading so many good reviews about it. It definitely doesn't disappoint. Easily one of the best hotels I've stayed in. Melaka isn't exactly paradise location but the service, and lovely brick-red walls and Spanish hacienda-like look and feel definitely transports you to a different place. It helps too that even though the room we stayed in wasn't facing the Melaka river (no regrets there), it overlooked the courtyard lago, which was beautiful and just the perfect place to curl up comfortably with a book. Also, a library. With smashing tea. How do you beat that.
Fantastic Hotel & Great Service”
This is my second time staying at Casa Del Rio this year. I find this hotel to be a fantastic place to relax and unwind. The rooms are so spacious and clean with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom is also very spacious and with a bathtub that size to soak in anytime of the day is great. The infinity pool is located on the top deck of the hotel overlooking the river and is just magic during the evening. Casa Del Rio is the perfect location to walk to most attractions like the famous Jonker Street which is approx 3mins walk from hotel. The staff members were always so accomodating and professional. Only thing I can pick on for this hotel is the continental breakfast in the restuarant of a mornings is very bland and i feel there should be options for breakfast but other than that this hotel is fantastic.
Look no further”
Wonderful resort-style accommodation at Casa Del Rio. Checking-in and out was a breeze. The room was spacious and clean. Loved the pillow menu and turndown service where they’ll lit the incense burner at the balcony and prepare night cap. The infinity pool, though small, boasted beautiful panoramic view of the Malacca River. We absolutely enjoyed the library where we can catch up on some reading while enjoying a cuppa. Most important of all, the staff were fantastic, always friendly, helpful and accommodating. World class service indeed. We will definitely be back.
Dear Karen, Thank you for your kind words We are delighted to hear that you have found our little touches ideal. We are looking forward to welcome you back to your home by the river Warm regards Michael Quay Hotel Manager
Great hotel, wonderful staff, & a perfect location”
Upon arriving at the Casa del Rio you will be met by the hotel staff, quickly booked into the hotel and assisted to your room. The lobby area is simply amazing and very peaceful. The restaurant is great. The hotel is located in the best area of Melaka and every thing is a short walk from the hotel. The room was extremely comfortable, clean, & very well decorated. I highly recommend staying at the Cas del Rio to anyone planning a visit to Melaka.
Gorgeous Riverfront Setting!”
My family and I spent a night at the Casa Del Rio Melaka Hotel. We purposely chose this hotel over the other "more modern" hotels (eg. Renaissance or Equatorial) because of its fascinating facade/architecture, as well as its location facing the Melaka River. Our rooms were neat and tidy. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, a remarkable experience!!
