Great location, good price for a B&B, great staff”
With free wifi, inside the city (very near to shopping malls, eating places, touring sites, and historical landmarks; value for money. We took the family room which is good enough for 1 night stay. We checkout early (as we will be touring the city) but we left our things inside their office; The staff are always smiling and very helpful.
location is just perfect, it's in the middle of th city yet you will not worry about noise. the staff are very accomoodating. the room is just right for me - not so small and not so big. the only downside is mosquito.
quiet location yet accessible ”
staff are friendly, wifi connection is very good, i was upgraded to a bigger room since my booking is not yet recorded on their system, resto in veranda is very cozy, taxi is abundant, a few block away from the main road, the only concern i have is they have no in-house phone service - you really have to go out of your room if you need anything from the staff. over-all ambiance is very quiet as if you're not in the city
Great hotel tucked away from the crazy traffic!”
I was looking for a strategically located hotel that was close to the major historic sights in Cebu, but still located somewhat close to the action. This place fits the bill. Mango Square is just down the road, and there are a couple major roads about a 10 minute walk away (with restaurants and bars). It's a bit of a hike to the historic downtown to see Magellan's Cross and the Fort, etc. but it's doable if you're feeling energetic. Otherwise take a cheap taxi.
House with character”
Very pleasant check-in experience (the staff show us to our room first, then brought us the keys, the paperwork and the welcome drink directly in our room) The hotel is actually an old house with a garden. It's a pitty the bathroom was not well maintained and the sink drain was stuck.
Perfect Bed and Breakfast”
casa escano is a centrally located bed and breakfast in cebu. easily reachable by jeepneys. a 5 minute or less walk to the capitol. jeeps go direct to ayala and to the sto nino church. the restaurant offers delicious food. rooms are big and aircon is cold!!!
The hotel has a nice location, quiet yet central. Room was comfortable, clean and spacious. Food in the restaurant is good and fairly priced. The only drawback is that they charged extra for one extra cup of tea at breakfast. Bring your own teabag and ask for extra hot water and the problem is solved.
kind staff, decent meals for reasonable prices”
The hotel seemed quite popular for its restaurant, we could see lots of non-residents came there to dine, especially during brunch time. They serve only Western(Spanish and American mostly) style food: salads, sandwiches, fish cutlets, beef ribs, lamb steak, etc. The overall design and facilities are more like a quaint villa with servants and a garden rather than a typical tower block hotel. It is a two-story house and all Deluxe rooms are on the first floor, so if anyone wants to stay on the second is recommended to book either a superior or family room. We arrived at the hotel early in the morning and accidentally got to spend the first night in a superior room; we moved to our original deluxe room the next day and enjoyed experiences in both rooms. Both did not have a bathtub though. Most of staff members, except few of the restaurant, were so kind, helpful and innocent. Oh, and the free wireless Internet was very speedy. =)
very good stay here ,,stay for 8 days i am from england”
the only thing wrong was you couldn't get food to eat after 8.30pm should stay open till 9.30pm plus people should not use agoda as a very bad company to use,,plus when they make you have to pay for dearer room,,,, charge you twice where they make the mistake,, so please please use a good company as this one is at the bottom, and could be going bust as cant make refund ,,,so don't be caught by them like I have,,,,,,,,
So bad I checked out 1 day early”
Day 1 OK. Very limited food menu. Everything locked up and closed at 9pm. Day 2. Had to remind them to service the room at 5.30pm. Cleaning was very perfunctory. Took 2 guests to dinner. Food had to be returned as the meat was rancid - hotel maintained that the meat was OK but the sauce made the meat taste rancid....what a ridiculous excuse. Had dinner elsewhere Day 3, Out most of the day. The room was not serviced again because all cleaning staff had gone home. Asked for manager at 6pm.....gone home too. I told one of the few remaining staff that I would check out early as the hotel was a disgrace and asked for the check for incidentals. Apparently that was not possible and I was asked to go back to the hotel the next day to settle up. Brits may remember a TV series called Fawlty Towers.........
Good location, relaxing, very nice staff, room was satisfactory with decent AIRCON and shower warm/hot. Nice terrace for morning coffee and newspaper and breakfast. Food was not bad and prices reasonable.
Room 5 Bathroom needs general cleaning”
Overpriced room rate for a standard room for 1 and not so very clean toilet and bath. Very dirty bathroom walls and tiles, needs thorough cleaning, I suggest to use 1 bottle of Muriatic Acid atleast twice a month, cost only less than a dollar to clean the whole bathroom. No telephone inside the room. The bed was very comfy but very noisy when you move around. I was not able to eat breakfast on the first day bec. already got out of the like 10:20am and I was not informed during my very late check-in that free breakfast is until 10am only, I asked for the coffee instead but then they also refused to give free coffee bec. free coffee is until 10am only.
Casa Escano Hotel Cebu”
As always, comfortable, staff friendly and helpful. situated in nice quiet location but close to centre of Cebu. Probably more 3 than 4 star, but no complaints. I regularly stay in this hotel, liking it's slightly old world quirkiness and nice garden area surrounding the hotel even though it is close to the centre of town.
we stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights, and it was great. the room smelled good and the bathroom was huge. the staff were very friendly and housekeeping even showed my son how to make a dog towel sculpture. there's cabled tv, wifi, and a water dispenser outside our room where we can get water anytime we want. food from their restaurant was delicious, especially the pancakes. just one thing tough, when we got there the floor of our room was really dusty and since we didn't bring any slippers with us, i had to wipe the floor clean with rags. quite a small thing, and i would have asked the staff to wipe the floor clean for us, but we arrived really late so i figured housekeeping might not be there. other than that though, it's really a good place to stay and we will definitely be going back.
Great bed and breakfast”
I am a regular guest at the Casa Escano and love it for its rustic charm. It's a small yet charming sanctuary from the world outside, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the food is great. Definitely one of the best of its kind in Cebu.
Home Away from Home”
1. Allows early check-in for free if there are no prior guests occupying the rooms 2. The staff are friendly and attentive (Ms.Joy and Ms.April) 3. Allows late check out for an additional price (500 for me, 5 hrs extension) 4. Good quality of food for a reasonable value (fruit platter with yoghurt, honey and granola, 68 pesos) 5. Very fast internet connection! :D 6. Very comfortable bed and pillows Feedback on the shower of the room I occupied: the water is either too hot or too cold and I was hoping the flow of water of the shower can be stronger. In general, Casa Escaño is a really good place to stay in when in Cebu City.
Comfort of a home with the luxury of a hotel”
I would like to say thank you to all the staff there for being so helpful, accommodating and attentive to my needs. Casa Escano did not disappoint. The only flaw in Casa Escano is the shower in the room where I stayed is either too hot or too cold which is why I had to frequently shift the control of the hot/cold regulator when I take a bath. I was also hoping that the flow of water can be stronger. Anyway, the good points in Casa Escano outweigh the bad. I requested from the staff (Ma'am Joy) if they would kindly allow me to check in early too without paying extra and she agreed to do so as long as there is a room available (no current occupants in the room). Lucky for me, I was able to check in early for free! They also allowed me to check out late (5 pm, as long as no one will occupy the room next) for an extra fee of only 500 pesos. The bed and pillows were so comfortable. The tv, though small, had good reception and various channels both local and international. They also had fast wifi all throughout the day. You have a variety of food to choose from in their restaurant, Don Merto's. I highly suggest the fruit platter which was delicious (with yogurt, honey, and granola)and a really big serving for the price of 68 pesos. A lot of Cebuanos themselves dine there so I guess that's enough proof of the quality of their food. I personally like the consistency of the staff smiling and greeting me whenever I pass by them. It's as if I've been there for a long time when actually I've just arrived a few hours ago. I really felt like I was a special guest but a part of the community (not foreign) at the same time. In summary, I would really recommend Casa Escano to those who will travel in Cebu. I would even continue to stay in their place when I go back to Cebu soon.
Great time as usual”
A group of three friends, we chose this bed and breakfast because we were so impressed by it last time around when we visited Cebu. Large rooms, a substantial breakfast, free interent,a very decent location and very hostpiable staff makes this small hotel excellent value for money.
It was a nice experience. From the time I was inquiring about our room (through e-mail), up to the time we checked out, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The place was like a home, very comfortable. The food at Merto's Restaurant (also part of Casa Escano)was superb.
A clean and basic, no frills hotel.”
Good value for the money. Attentive and helpful staff. Only complaint is that the Wi-Fi did not work in the room all three days or anywhere else except the terrace. Very inconvenient and many mosquitoes on the terrace.
