"Location was good and there was plenty of street parking available all which was very safe so I felt secure leaving my car there for the weekend."

A great combination of value, class, and modesty.”
An amazing hidden gem of San Francisco, Casa Loma is clean, quiet, accommodating and what I liked best - low-key. It is in no way a 5 star hotel nor is it claiming to be - bathrooms and showers are shared, though they probably have rooms with private facilities. But everything else was beyond my expectations, especially considering the affordability. Best value for a clean quiet modest place a little bit out of the way but close to where the action is

Excellent and affordable stay in a great neighborhood”
My partner and I spent four nights at Casa Loma. The location is great, it's at the top of the hill, in close walking distance to Lower-Haight, the Mission and the Castro. It was the perfect spot to start your day from. Being on the 22 bus made it SO easy to get to and from some of the other major attractions/hot neighborhoods. It's a no-frills place, but it's currently undergoing renovation, and we could see things were definitely going to be improving. The fact that their rooms have private bathrooms at such a low rate make this a no-brainer for a city where that combination of things is all too rare. Great stay, would return and highly recommend to others.

Great stay”
Casa Loma is nothing special but certainly everything you need in San Francisco. Staff are really friendly and helpful, facilities are very clean and the location is just far away enough from downtown to feel safe. Parking can be annoying but that is anywhere in San Francisco. Much easier to find a park on the weekend. Great value for money.

GREAT location and clean rooms close to everything”
Wonderful! Everything was much cleaner than I anticipated for the price. Everything looked brand new and clean. The rooms are small but are much cheaper than any other hotel in the area. I was afraid I would have to stay in a hotel near the airport and take the BART in every day. Note that is a European-style hotel, which means the several toilets and showers are in the hallway and are shared. However, they were clean and we had not problem finding one unoccupied. There is a sink and flatscreen TV in the bedroom. This was a great deal and let's face it, if you are visiting San Francisco, how much time are you going to spend in your room awake? I didn't travel to San Francisco to sit in a hotel. All the staff was incredibly nice and friendly. This is THE place to stay in SF if you are on a budget.

Much Improved”
I stayed at this hotel a few years ago and frankly it was horrible. It was dirty and hadn't been updated in years. I booked again only due to location and was pleasantly surprised with the updates they have done. My room had been refurbished w/ new shower, sink, tile and carpet. I honestly was not looking forward to my stay, figured it was only two night and couldn't be worse than some 3rd world hotels I've stayed at. I ended up walking away feeling like I got one of the best deals in SF. Well done Casa Loma for investing in your hotel!

Great Choice for Anybody”
I definitely made a great choice by staying at this hotel. I had to stay at Marriott Marquis on the previous night and they didn't even have free internet or coffee at the Marriott but YES at Casa Loma. It's so amazing that they give you free internet and great free coffee choices in the morning. The location is even great. You can basically have an enjoyable and a bit long walk to the city center, even to the pier. I found a very cheap deal on a phone app and it was so worth it. I will definitely come back.

1 night stay.”
The staff at Casa Loma were extremely helpful and welcoming. We arrived on an early flight and though our room was not ready, they provided us with luggage storage and towels to use the showers (shared on each floor). The room was a good size for the price and very clean. Appreciated the sink in the room. The only complaint would be the lack of shelves or hooks in the showers. It would be good to have somewhere to put clothes and shower items besides on the floor. I would definitely stay here again.

A cozy place in downtown SFO”
Casa Loma is a cozy place to stay in downtown SFO, filled with nice staff and good people visiting from around the world. Location it's safe, dinners and food markets are nearby, also many of the amenities of the downtown. However, closest BART station it's civic center about 20 minutes walking! Accommodations are basic, (a bed, tv, internet, in my case a shared toilet/shower and in-room hands washer) but you don't need many more... the lobby has a coffee machine and I THINK they have laundry room and/or dry clean. Safety measures and devices are installed around the hotel like smoke detectors and the like. Rooms are clean and cleaned daily if you don't use the do not disturb sign I would recommend it definitely if you don't mind walking 20 minutes to and from BART and/or you don't mind using Uber/Lyft almost daily.

A traveler's hotel”
Excellent location -we came for a concert which was only 5-6 blocks away- and the hotel is 1 or 2 blocks from the famous painted ladies. The neighborhood itself is very nice, residential and close to a few restaurants and stores, as well as public transportation. The staff is super friendly and the building very quaint and typical of San Francisco. We were able to leave our luggage on the day of our departure (we had a late flight) which was extremely helpful. The room was very clean, beds comfortable, water hot, all we needed. It is a bit noisy if you're not used to living in the city -traffic mostly; but we expected that. I don't think the price/quality ratio can be beat! We loved it.

Excellent”
I stayed for three nights at the Casa Loma with my teenage son. My main concern based on past reviews was noise. Despite being able to hear some noise at times in adjacent rooms or the hallway, it never affected our sleep or enjoyment of the place. Due to renovations, there was only one shared shower available on our floor, but I never had to wait to use it. Transit access is easy and frequent. We rented bikes for 24 hours and were allowed to store them overnight inside the hotel. Overall, no complaints.

Good for the budget minded traveler”
If you're looking for an inexpensive room in a very expensive city Casa Loma is the place. My room for $70 U.S. with a shared bathroom was both clean and quiet. Parking is on the street and a bit of a hassle. Stayed two nights and never had to wait to use bathroom facilities. Bathroom sinks are located inside the room.

Exceptional”
We had a good 4 days stay at Casa Loma. The location was great and it’s so easy to get around by bus. The staff are very friendly esp Kim who helped us with directions and places to go. Their free coffee is a bonus. The only drawback is the noise at night because it’s located near the road. It gets a bit stuffy in the afternoon but it gets cooler at night. Overall a really good experience.

Surprised ”
It was good to get out of downtown and try this area out. Had it not been for the traffic noise we would have loved this place. We were allocated a room which most would love with spectacular views and tonnes of natural light however the noise pollution from constant traffic made our sleep very interrupted The free coffe and tea machine at reception is excellent - well done Casa Loma Staff were very friendly especially the young male (maybe son of owner) , he made us feel comfortable immediately. I would go back here especially for the value of a very very expensive San Francisco

Best Staff Ever”
Hotel is a bit basic but clean which is more important. Comfortable bed and pillow. Staff were phenomenal, so friendly and extremely helpful. Best hotel experience I have had in the US. If I go to San Francisco again I will definitely use this hotel again.

100 percent worth the 100 bucks I paid”
Rooms with private bath are super noisy and way too much light gets in. The furniture is scratched and worn and the bathtub has stains in it. (I was told the rooms that share a bath are much more quiet) I said it..... I think these are facts, the only question is, does it feel like a good deal at $100 per night. I felt so because, I found easy free parking close by, I could walk to all the things I was doing that weekend. The streets felt reasonably safe and no homeless people were urinating in front of the hotel. The bed was comfortable enough that I slept well. Free peets coffee / latte machine saved me a couple of bucks and the staff was nice and considerate. It's a budget hotel with a little character. If you can't sleep because of noise and light don't stay here or be forewarned. If you can use ear plugs and a mask and get a good nights sleep. It's an awfully good deal.

Quiet Location, Budget-friendly, Near Restaurants”
A hidden gem in San Francisco, walking distance to painted ladies, lots of good restaurants and shops, CVS and small convenience stores. Will stay here again and again :)

Very good value for money for budget travellers.”
Bus stop is right outside the hotel. Takes about 20mins to get to union by bus. Neighborhood is safe and we felt comfortable walking aroundat night. Only concern is perhaps just before japantown on filmore where there were some homeless and people loitering but they didnt cause any trouble.. Room was adequate, bed made daily and towels replaced daily. Although showers and bathrooms are shared, they at kept very clean and almost never had to wait. Only downside to the hotel was that on our second night, a couple checked in and had some very vocal adult time and played loud music and hotel staff either did not notice/did not do anything about it. I would give the staff review 5 stars otherwise as they were very nice and accommodating.

More people should know about this gem of a place to stay”
We could park on the street right by the hotel. There are stairs only so, it's not for the very old who might have a hard time walking up. The shower in our room was very nice with lots of hot water. For the price, it's a great deal.

The perfect location for my business visit in San Francisco.

Good location. Worth the money. ;)”
It's quite a nice experience. This hotel is not so far from San Fran beach and the Golden Gate Park. It also has a lot of restaurant in a walking distance. You will have your privacy in your staying but sometimes you may heard conversations from nearby rooms. I don't have any problems with share toilets and bathroom because they are available for most of the time and they are clean. By the way, an air conditioner or a fan in the room would be nice though.
