Charming beachside cottages, good value”

Friendly and helpful staff, great restaurant, peaceful atmosphere

We stayed at Cassia Cottages for 4 nights in mid-June in a garden view cottage. The staff arranged a large cottage for us because we had 3 people sharing, and it was very comfortable and easily big enough for all of us. The rooms and hotel facilities are in great condition, beautiful decor and provide a peaceful and relaxing environment. Unfortunately it rained the whole 5 days we spent on Phu Quoc Island, but the hotel staff were always very helpful and suggested many activities for us. They went the extra mile to ensure we enjoyed our holiday, including regularly checking weather reports and helping us plan around the weather, checking our flights were still running on time (back to mainland and other city connections) and helping us navigate the chaotic local markets. The hotel restaurant was wonderful! We ate there many times and the food was delicious, very fresh and big portion sizes. We often shared dishes between 2-3 of us. It is very affordable eating and they use a lot of local ingredients, including cinnamon from their own farms. I recommend trying the vanilla milkshake (real vanilla pods, not flavoured syrup) and the cinnamon ice cream!! Cassia Cottages is perfect for a peaceful beachside holiday, young families who enjoy their own space or couples looking for a romantic getaway. The gardens are tranquil and well-kept, the hotel has a private beachfront location and the rooms and meals are excellent value. We greatly enjoyed our time at Cassia Cottages (despite the awful weather) and look forward to returning one day!

Amazing room, friendly staff, wonderful garden”

Breakfast with Seaview, Service on the beach, peaceful

We booked Cassia only a few days before arriving on Phu Quoc and got a good deal at the end of the season. After reading reviews we booked one of the new rooms rather than one of the older bungalows. The new rooms are wonderfully decorated and due to the high ceilings they feel huge. We loved the stone floor and the 2 sinks. Currently they are expanding the resort on the neighboring ground and therefore you can hear construction works all day. However we did not mind too much as we knew it before and did not spend much time at the resort during day time. We hired a scooter (in good condition) from the Resort but learned that they charge more than double the price you pay at other places. Also the Taxi transfer is much more expensive than just catching a random one at the airport. Staff at Cassia were all very friendly and helpful and the staffed generally seemed to be quite cheerful and relaxed. We really enjoyed our week on the island. However Phu Quoc has a severe problem with garbage and massive new Resorts being build. The whole island feels a little like a big skip and building site but there are still some quiet lovely beaches when willing to drive a scooter.

Lovely hotel, great location & service with a smile”

Cottages were new, very clean, good value without any complaints from me

Our first stay on Phu Quoc Island and we definitely would go back to Cassia Cottage and Phu Quoc again. We loved the cottages, two swimming pools, private beach etc. The hotel staff was very helpful and we felt we got a good value for our money (which is not always the case). The hotel owner has a great story (we only read about the owner but did not meet him). We did learn that June is season the Ocean is rougher on the west side of the island (the waves where on the big side for a swimming in the ocean). We ventured to the south coast to snorkel, we where told that the ocean is easy to swim in June on the south coast and where blown away at how beautiful and calm the water was. If you want to swim in the ocean while staying a resort on Phu Quoc Island, you might want to research if the beaches are calm or rough during the time you plan to stay.

Great Beach Getaway”

Beach, Food, Staff

My wife and I had a great time at Cassia Cottage. After a week in Ho Chi Minh City, Cassia Cottage on Phu Quoc Island was a great break for the weekend. Only 15 minutes from the airport, and located on the main beach, Cassia Cottage was more than we could of hoped for. We were upgraded from a Garden View to an Ocean View on arrival and all of the staff were friendly and courteous during our stay. The food at the restaurant was great and so were the cocktails, not the norm in Vietnam. The room was spacious and we loved the outodoor shower in the bathroom. The only recommendation we could give would be to invest in some newer scooters for rentals. The one we were given was old and engine extremely loud. We would definitely stay at Cassia again and the 10% discount on future visits we were given at checkout was a great touch.

Everything is amazing at Cassia”

I fell in love with this resort while searching for an accommodation for our vacation. Didn’t know why but I knew I was perfectly right to book it here out of hundreds of other beautiful resorts. Everything was wonderful, the private cottage and its facilities, the location (15 mins on taxi from/to the airport, right in the centre of Phu Quoc, easy access to the north for Vinpearl or to the south for the islands), the pools and the private beach, the restaurant and the foods, the spa,... and especially the staff. Cannot desribe how much we love Cassia. We had such an amazing weekend for 3 nights and we regreted not staying for a 4th night. We certainly are coming back to Phu Quoc very very soon and Cassia will be still the place we choose to stay.

Beautifully appointed, excellent staff”

Setting was incredible as was the Spice Restaurant. The staff were genuine and very helpful.

we finished off our honeymoon with 3 nights staying at the cassia cottages on phu quoc island. i can not speak highly enough of this beautiful resort. while we are the more adventurous type and spent our time exploring, most couples / families were more than content hanging either by the pools or the beach. the restaurant has fantastic food and all of the services get top marks from us, including one of the best massages i had over the whole trip. not to mention the free cocktail each day... it wasn't hard to see why it was the busiest resort on the whole beach!

Very friendly Hotel with beautiful kept gardens.”

Large Bungalow rooms, huge shower, lovely staff, great food, gorgeous gardens and ideal beach location.

staff were helpful and friendly from the moment we arrived, torrential rain yet they still met the taxi with a umbrella and a smile. restaurant served a delicious menu, and all the staff were most helpful and it felt like staying with family. cottages sit in a great location right on the beach and still walking distance into the town. about a 20 minute easy walk along the main road. suggest you hire a hotel scooter and tour the island!! lost of fun and safe enough even in the pouring rain. all in all would recommend cassia cottages for a relaxing beautiful stay on phu quoc. you may wish to visit in the good season though as they do have quite a monsoonal season and rain will not stop.

Fabulous hotel with great staff”

Geat Location, excellent staff, private beach & 2 pools

Had a fantastic stay at Cassia Cottages, the cottages were lovely and well equiped, the staff were great and gave great advice about Phu Quoc Island. The owner invited guests to a complimentary coctail party by the pool which was a great way to meet other guests, it made us feel like we were part of the family. I would recommend this hotel highly, especially for families as it has large cottages to accommodate the whole family and a childrens pool.

Perfect”

Cleanliness, quietness, friendliness

The stay at Cassia was perfect. Initially, we were disappointed by the Restaurant menu, we expected Vietnamese food, the menu was adapted to international taste. When we asked for specific vietnamese dishes, the kitchen staff prepared excellent meals. We definitely recommend this place. If we have an opportunity to go back to Phu Quoc, we will certainly stay at Cassia Cottage again. The resort is small, well integrated onto the beach, very different from the resorts closer to town that are huge complexes, and could be on any beach in the world.

super friendly staff, cocktail hour, great pools, beautiful gardens, great restaurant with very tasty snacks as well as proper meals - they focus on local produce especially spices from the island.

firstly they were very accommodating when we had to change our booking.. put back by one day as our travel plans were disrupted.. we arrived by ferry (we flew back to mainland however) the roads are atrocious on the island and the driveway was flooded when we arrived as it had been raining (our visit was end of rainy season, october) but after that it was clear by the next day and we had beautiful weather. the staff are super friendly and speak excellent english. the breakfast staff are particularly enthusiastic about helping you plan your day or anything you might need. our visit included a 'sunset fishing and night squid fishing' trip - which i must add we did not book through cassia cottage.. it was called sunny boat tours and they were terrible, so we took the advice of staff and used their preferred tour group john's and had a fantastic snorkelling and fishing full day trip. as i said their are two pools to swim in and the beach is a mere 50m away from both of those so our only decision the other days was where we would park ourselves for the day to relax. the hotel arranged a taxi for a half day tour of the north part of the island which was good, don't fool yourself and think you can do it by motorbike (unless you ride on normally) the roads are terrible and in my opinion dangerous for tourists. the hotel does offer motorbikes for hire which we did for a half day which was enough for me to decide otherwise next day. there is movies and popcorn available every night. one 'happy hour' cocktail for each guest between 4-5pm. there is also massage facilities on site which of course we made use of. there is hammocks around the garden area and beach volleyball on the beach. i would definitely recommend cassia cottage and i hope to return myself.

Relax”

friendly staff, spacious room, private beach

Cassia Cottage is a small and charming resort, developed from a family guest-house. House are well kept, clean and room are lovely decorated. The guest experience is quite comfy with warm regards and daily chit-chat with owner/manager during breakfast time. We really feel like at home. The resort is hidden away from main street, so it's quite private and quiet - having 2 pools for adult and children so you can choose between the two. We live in Beach-house with is perfect, 2 bedrooms and a huge guestroom with both sea and pool view. Foods are a bit pricey but well worth it, display and taste at 4* quality. Breakfast have limited range, but enough and healthy. There's no TV in room, so you can enjoy your relax time with family/company. The only minus (which is for all island) is mosquitoes & flies, that you should bring bugs spray to avoid being bitten in house or even at any restaurant.

If you’re going to Phu Quoc don’t bother looking at any other hotels, just stay here!”

For us this was the best spot on Phu Quoc. The island is becoming built up just like the rest of Vietnam but expect this place on Long Beach will maintain its beautiful little spot on the beach. The layout and design of the place with its little cottages, herb gardens, beach bar, lovely restaurant and 3 pools was outstanding. All guests get a daily free sundowner cocktail (Barman’s choice!) plus there is a happy hour (try the fresh beer at the beach bar!) plus free yoga classes twice a day. It also has the best food on the island in the Spice House restaurant, both for taste and value. The best spot on the beach, a walk along the beach from the best beach bar on Phu Quoc (Rory’s) and is run by and built from the ground up by a delightful American guy living in Vietnam and managed by really attentive and helpful management staff. Tip - no need to arrange a transfer pick up, just grab a waiting metered Taxi outside arrivals at the airport. Stay here!

Great little resort! ”

cheap, clean, friendly staff, good spa, nice restaurant, nice pools

I moved to Cassia Resort after staying at Chen Sea, which was amazing, to be closer to town. This place surprised me a lot. For the money, Cassia is a great little resort to stay at! The staff were sooo friendly. They recommended a lot of good places to go to and nice restaurants to dine at. The Spice House was great. I loved the food there. On the last day, they let us stay until 3:!5 pm since our plane was at 4:45, no extra charge. We had a spa treatment there before leaving and it was amazing for my sunburned skin!!!!! You can rent motorbikes from Cassia for $11 dollars a day, really cheap. It's close to town. It's so quiet at Cassia, listening to the waves and laying out on the chairs was extremely relaxing. When John's Tour canceled on us (horrible service on their part, i do not recommend), they recommended that we drive to Sao Beach and rent a boat tour there. To our surprise, we were able to get a private boat for 2 at the price of $30 compared to if we had gone with John's Tour and payed $17 each for a group tour. We would've never thought to go to Sao Beach ourselves if it wasn't for the staff at Cassia. Thanks! Overall, great time and stay!

Amazing stay in such a relaxing location ”

Our stay at Cassia Cottage was 5 nights and 6 days. We loved every moment of it - from the absolutely amazing food, the daily yoga classes, right down to the smell of cinnamon in your room. The rooms were spacious, cool and clean and we loved sitting on our deck and hearing the waves crash on the beach. The free drink during happy hour was a lovely touch! We loved how this resort sprawled into so many different areas and that it felt so different to the polished resorts we normally stay in. We adored their strong focus on sustainability, sourcing locally and growing so much of their own produce. Great step with not serving straws too! The various locations to relax in were great and we used them all. The yoga and the food at Spice Restaurant were definitely my highlight !! Thank you to Kimmie and all the staff who made our dining experience special. Also a massive thank you to the cleaning team who went to all the effort on my birthday to leave me a special message !!!

Beautiful Resort Gardens”

The spacious newer rooms, the outdoor shower, happy hour

My husband, our 4 year old daughter and I had a ball at Cassia Cottage, that was mainly down to the other couples we met there that week. We stayed in the newer villas and they were modern, beautiful and spacious. The outdoor shower was lovely. I booked the rooms through Agoda and they were really expensive at almost USD 250 a night but it was peak season and very few options left. The disappointment was that our villa looked onto an ugly fence with building site going on next door. A lot of money to pay for that view. The breakfast was great but nothing outstanding. Cassia Cottage Spice Restaurant gets a top choice in the Lonely Planet but we ate at much better places throughout our trip. We ordered a birthday cake for my husband's 40th and is was a bit disappointing for the price we paid. Loved the cocktail happy hour each evening. Each guest got a free cocktail. We spent each evening on the beach swimming, watching the sun set and socializing. Another minor 1st world issue were the towels, they could really do with new ones. You can't pay 250 bucks a night for worn out old towels. Otherwise a fun place to stay with lovely restaurant staff. Hope I don't sound too harsh!

Cossy cottage with magnificient view”

I have been 5 times in Phu Quoc, 2nd in Cassis Cottage. I have travelled with my 2 LOs. My family love the asmotphere in Cassia Cottage. Staffs are friendly, foods are good. However, the baby chair is too short to the dining table and isn't cleaned often.

Best hotel we stayed in”

Big rooms ,great poition ,great staff

This is without a doubt the best hotel we stayed in in 8 weeks in Asia, from arriving there and being showwn around the resort to leaving early in the morning with a breahfast pack,we where looked after supperbley, our seaview room was huge with a good view os the pool and ocean, although the ocean was a bit rough to swim in (wet season) the 2 pools more than made up for it ,with plenty of sun lounges and chairs it was very relaxing. The bed was very comfortable, the breakfast good and the resteruant,is very good.Always looked forward to happy hour, free cocktail by the pool.It is a 20 min walk to town ,we hired a motorbike ,very easy to ride or get a taxi, very cheap. We would highly reccomend Cassia Cottages.

Great beach front location ”

View of sunset, 2 swimming pools, plenty of sun loungers around pool and on beach.

The garden rooms offer the most privacy, however the sea view rooms have lovely views of sunset and the pool area. The staff are very friendly and laid back. It was lovely to see the boys playing volleyball during their late afternoon break and this contributed to the relaxed family atmosphere I think the owners are trying to cultivate. I found the lack of service by bar and restaurant staff frustrating to start with, however as I began to relax in the lovely surroundings I was able to accept this. Dont expect them to come around and take your order for refreshments as apart from a very nice gesture of a free cocktail at happy hour, the service in this area is non existent. The resort has two pools, plus the beach and with the small number of rooms there was always plenty of space and sun loungers for all the guests which is a big plus The resort hires scooters and this is an excellent way to see the island. The rooms are clean and well presented. There is a library with books in many languages available and I found a good book to read while relaxing on the beach. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay at Cassia Cottage Resort.

Simply charming”

Location, good restaurant, very personable staff

Really enjoyed our stay at Cassia, the staff and the manager in particular were extremely friendly and helpful. Its a lovely small resort by the ocean with the restaurant right on the beach, great for breakfast and sunset dinners. Its also close to the beachside restaurant, Hieu, which is a good cheap alternative to break up the menu routine (and the fantastic nightmarkets of course). The swimming pools are very nice which is good because the sea can be quite murky. There's no TV in the room and there are a lot of mosquitos on this island (the bed does have a mosquito net) so bring a good book and some mosquito repellent (Cassia helpfully sell some excellent stuff at the resort). Overall thoroughly recommended.
