Mother/Daughter Getaway”

My daughter and I completely enjoyed our stay at the Castle Hotel. The proximity to Dublin center was most convenient. We especially loved the Vault Restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff exceptional! Our room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was newly renovated. We arrived during a heat wave. The hotel provided a fan to compensate. Getting around from the hotel was easy! We took a cab from the airport (not recommended). We were charged $35 euros for an 8 minute ride. There are numerous buses from the airport that drop off very close to the hotel! We look forward to coming back soon. I highly recommend the Castle Hotel for your stay in Dublin! You will not be disappointed!

The Castle Hotel - A great place to stay!”

The Castle Hotel is a privately owned hotel at the top of O'Connell Street, the main drag in Dublin. It is fabulously located, and the staff are magnificent. If you are lucky (as we were) you might even get to meet the owner Finn, who brings great cheer to all those he meets. The reception staff were totally there to assist, which was greatly appreciated as I had some tricky business issues to deal with. Internet was great. All in all, a terrific property. Thanks to all at The Castle Hotel.

A hotel worth exploring. ”

Castle Hotel is in the heart of Dublin, so it's a little noisy and parking is unique. I also would not recommend it for someone who has trouble with stairs. But if you enjoy beautiful hotels with lots of history and enclaves to explore, lovely restaurants, and accommodating staff, you won't care about the drawbacks.

Dear Donna Thank you for your valuable feedback. The Castle Hotel buildings do date back to 1769 and although we do have 2 lifts which service all floors there are quite a few internal stairs to negotiate. However we are always happy to accept special requests and would be happy to accommodate anyone who may have trouble with stairs in an area close to the lift. This is a very historic hotel being one of Dublin's oldest and I am delighted you enjoyed your stay. I hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Kindest Regards Yvonne O'Keeffe General Manager

Excellent”

The location was great! Very close to the old city center, north of the River Liffey. This is the oldest hotel in Dublin so don't expect anything super modern and fancy, but the hotel definitely has character and a strong sense of history. There's a traditional Irish restaurant in the basement, and the breakfast was really great! Definitely recommend it if you have time in the morning.

Lovely Hotel”

Location was great 10 mins walk from Temple Bar but with lots of nice bars and restaurants within a couple minutes walk. The hotel cave bar entertainment was good and drink prices were Ok. Breakfast was lovely and the staff were brilliant, very helpful and informative. The only thing that was disappointing for us was there was no bath only a shower and the water pressure in the shower wasn't very good. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you want a quieter stay in Dublin away from the partying in Temple Bar.

Great Location”

Super friendly and efficient staff, superb location and good breakfast

I was here for the Websummit 2015 and found that the hotel is more than 200 years old. However, it has modern comfort and amenities. The rooms are slightly small for my comfort but otherwise you will get use to the cozy space. The location is excellent because you are just 10 mins away from city center and 3 mins tour operators. I have to say that the staff here are super friendly and efficient. They attend to all your needs with just 1 request. I am happy to recommend anyone to stay in Castle Hotel.

Was great to get out of the hustle and bustle of Dublin but only be up the road from the action. Breakfast was lovely and part of our room package deal. There was also a bar, with live singing, downstairs. We enjoyed ending our night here. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would most definitely recommend this hotel as it was recommended to us also.

Pretty Inside, Perfect location”

Good location with easy access to regular buses. Many tourist spots in Dublin are walking distance from here. The lobby and lounge areas are what the millenials would call "instagramworthy". They have a good Irish/European style breakfast buffet. It was so good, I always ended up eating a lot. Staff are courteous and friendly. However, at night it seems like there is only one person manning the fort. Not a problem for me, though but might be a problem for others. I didn't see a meeting room or any places to hold something for bigger groups, or any other special facilities like a gym. But this is a very good hotel for its category.

Fantastic hotel in a prime location in the heart of Dublin. The staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We ate in the Vaults restaurant on our first night and the food was fantastic with ample portions. The hotel is also located near a number of nice restaurants and coffee shops and is minutes from the centre of town, tram stops and the tourist hop on/hop off bus. A nice array of beers in the bar as well as a good selection of foods at breakfast, featuring both cooked and continental. Very clean and well furnished.

The Wonderful Castle Experience”

Check-in was easy and fast. The staff was helpful and pleasant throughout our 4 days' stay. The location is good. It's about a 10-minute walk to town and 15-20 minutes to Temple Bar. Many buses call at the bus stops just across the road, including the one going to the airport. When we checked-out, the hotel staff called for a taxi to take us to the airport - 22 euros (In Dublin, it's cheaper to book a cab than to get one plying along the road). There's a good restaurant round the corner of the hotel that you must try. It's called Chapter One. Reservation is advisable.

Top place to stay ”

The moment you arrive up until you leave Castle hotel you are made to feel like it's your own home. The staff and the feel of this really old historical building is a real gem. I've stayed here 5 times now and each time is better than the last. It's centrally located and there are so many things to do from site seeing to visiting markets to experience the best of all international foods available all at a stone throw from the hotel. The transportation system is excellent to and from the airport also as buses and coaches run throughout the day so it's a great bonus as you can leave luggage at the hotel for the day if you so wish and collect later if the flight is later on etc.... I'm looking forward to staying at the Castle Hotel again in a few months time with my family this time. It really is a great place to stay.

Oldest hotel in Dublin very nice visit”

The first thing we noticed about the Castle Hotel was its close proximity to either the center of the old city or access to public transportation and the tourist office. The hotel itself is a very well-preserved old building with a lift (elevator) with a restaurant and bar. The rooms are a bit tight, and the bathroom is very small, with a very small sink (impossible to get water to stay in the bowl when washing your face). Still, it was clean and neat, and nicely furnished with a good bed. The only down side other than the bathroom size was there is no air conditioning. We arrived during a heat wave and sweltered in the room at night. We put a deposit on an air fan at the desk, which was promptly reimbursed upon our departure and return of the fan. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good morning breakfasts with a choice of a full Irish breakfast, and a selection of other foods. Recommend highly with reservations about no air conditioning.

This Hotel is a beautiful mix of styles with original period features everywhere you look. The staff are extremely helpful and courteous. The food for both breakfast in the Music Cafe and Evening meals downstairs in the Vault we're fantastic. The staff in both areas were also attentive but not intrusive. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of a visit yo Dublin.

Good Location, Good Value”

Location is in walking distance of shopping and entertainment. Very quiet. Right near bus stop. Breakfast is excellent. The hotel is large and sprawling - long hallways and lots of nooks and crannies. As the oldest hotel in Dublin, the rooms and especially plumbing is in need of updating. Still a good value for a short stay.

Centrally located, in need of renovation”

Location, car parking, breakfast

Castle Hotel is located close to the starting point of the Dublin tour buses and is an easy walk to good pubs for casual dining and to the main shopping streets. Internal courtyard parking was a great bonus and the breakfast, looking on to the courtyard was excellent. The Hotel restuarant we found less attractive. This is located underground down very rickety stairs. There was a well attended bar and video projection of sports for entertainment. Food was adequate but not pleasant unless we had not planned to join the "party" crowd.
