Great location with friendly staff”
This is definitely a hotel I would recommend to anyone visiting Madrid. The room may not be huge but it is comfortable, extremely well kept, clean and well equipped. There are sufficient pillows and cushions unlike some other hotels. The service staff is very friendly, helpful and accommodating. I was supposed to check out after three nights' stay but I extended another night before departing Madrid for Barcelona. After a week in Barcelona, my plan was to return to Madrid, stay the night with a friend before flying off to Asia the next day. The staff was more than happy to help look after my bags for that one day even though I would no longer be registered as their guest. What great after sales service!!! In the end I decided to just book another night with them instead of staying with my friend. In that one trip to Madrid, I returned to Catalonia Atocha 3 times - simply because it was like 'home' away from home. As for location, it is almost accessible to all the major sites and places with just 10-15 minutes walk or by Metro that is a minute away. And yes....the hotel staff willingly and patiently showed me how to get to these places. Definitely Catalonia Atocha.

We had a tonight stay at the Catalonia Atocha and were more than pleased with our treatment,We were able to access our room on our arrival at 10am - after an overnight flight from Canada - and get rested up for the balance of our first day's stay. The bed room which looked out onto the street and the ensuite bathroom were clean and well insulated against any outside noise from traffic.Sadly, we could not make use of the roof top bar as it was raining on the Tuesday evening. The staff were more than helpful and courteous. The location was perfect for visiting the Prado and having a drink or meal at nearly bars and restaurants We can thoroughly recommend staying at Catalonia Atocha. Great hotel, amazing location”
An attractive, modern, hotel close to Atocha rail station, and many museums, restaurants and bars. The room was very well furnished, with plenty of lighting, and an extremely comfortable bed. The bathroom shower was amazing, as was the cold tub on the roof, which was most welcome after arriving in the middle of the afternoon. Only downside was that breakfast was not included in the room price. Would definitely stay at Catalonia Atocha again.
Great Location, Beautifully Furnished Hotel”
Loved the location of the hotel which was a stone's throw from the Anton Martin metro station. It was also easy to get to the Atocha Train/Bus station where one can hop on the express shuttle bus to the Madrid airport or take the Renfe trains to other parts of Spain. You can actually walk from the station to the hotel and vice versa (10 minutes walk) though I won't recommend it if you are carrying heavy luggage as the walk from the station to the hotel is an uphill (steep) one. The room was beautifully furnished in contemporary design and the bathroom was huge with great lighting! Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely value for money!
Beautiful Hotel with a lovely rooftop pool”
Loved every minute at Catalonia Atocha. Beautifully appointed rooms, helpful staff and amazing rooftop terrace with Jacuzzi and all for a very affordable rate. The best value accommodation in Madrid.
The 1st Family Trip to Spain”
This was my first visit to Spain with my wife and two children. We had chosen this hotel from the internet search due to it's location - no too far from the train station since we are planning to go to Malaga for this trip. The room is a bit small, yet they are clean. The bed are not too had nor not too soft. The room that we stayed was facing the Atocha. What a great view. Initially I thought that we Atocha Station is very close, however it is not that close. We had to walk more than 10 minutes to reach the station. Overall, the hotel staff are friendly and helpful. They are able to speak english very well. At one day, while we went out, my wife realised that one of her diamond earrings was missing. It might has fallen while she was sleeping that night. When we got back in the evening, the earning was placed on the bedside table. I guess the cleaning lady put it there. The only thing that I don't like about the hotel is they do not have a good dining place. Maybe because you can find a lot of restaurant in the area. Anyway if I were to go back to Madrid again, I will definitely stay at this hotel.
We Like This Hotel and Location.”
We have stayed at Catalonia hotels b4 and find the standard of service excellent. This one is no different ...you even get a shoe horn. We had a car and although there is no hotel parking across the road is fine (but expensive at Euro24/day). It is in easy walking distance of the Prado (our main reason for going to Madrid) and other art venues. Also the marche and main tourist square (at P. Mayor) is an easy stroll away. There are also lots of local bars, restaurants etc. Walking is good but taxis are also cheap. For the classic "Cocido" try La Bola (near Piazza de Oriente) for dinner.
Nice, clean, and reasonable distance from sights”
This is a clean, nice, straightforward hotel not far from the sights - about 10 minutes walk to Sol, Plaza Mayor, the Prado (okay that's 15 or more minutes), etc. I found my room to be in a bad location - right next to the service elevator and that meant a racket by 7 am, 8 am. That was unfortunate but otherwise, the hotel was nice with its main selling point for me the rooftop sun deck with whirlpool jacuzzi. First off - many hotels advertise a jacuzzi but I've found many not in operation when I've visited, or dirty. Catalonia Atocha keeps it clean, and this was a pleasant way to take in some sun with some great views at the end of a day of sightseeing.
Completely satisfied with Catalonia Atocha”
My wife and I enjoyed a good 2-day (Sunday and Monday) stay at the tail-end of the street-sweepers' strike, which was of no consequence to us directly while inside the hotel itself...the side of the hotel along Atocha Blvd. (front of Hotel) always appeared clean to us. We requested a quiet room and definitely got that. No view to speak of from our window but it was far more important to us that our room be quiet. Though not huge, our room was adequate in size and well laid-out with good closet space, and the bed was quite comfortable. WiFi worked well. The bathroom was well-equipped and reasonably-sized; the shower itself was surprisingly large and the fancy showerhead and body-shower worked very well. Also, we appreciated the towel-warmer. There were no carpets on the floor (7th floor) either in the hallway or in our room; but the hardwood floor was not unattractive and didn't detract from our enjoyment of our stay. Every member of the front desk staff we encountered were quite pleasant and spoke English well enough to answer all our questions and to provide us with the information and advice we needed to get us to where we wanted to go efficiently. The breakfast room was really nice, as were the cooks and servers we encountered. Newspapers in English and Spanish were available. We liked the eggs and omelets to order. There were lots of fruits, breads, pastries, cold cuts, cheeses, yogurts, cereal, fresh orange juice and other juices. There were toasters and two very nice coffee machines that make individual cups of different kinds of tasty coffee selections. One of the best breakfast buffets we've experienced lately.
Clean, modern, and great staff”
The Catalonia was fantastic. The location is a tiny bit out of the way of the major tourist attractions but only by a few blocks. I walked to everywhere I wanted to go (and enjoyed the walk as every block brings new surprises and even more beautiful buildings)but there is also a metro stop less than a block away. The Madrid metro is modern and safe. Hotel staff are helpful, nice, and speak English very well. Must see: the Palace and the Prado.
Nice hotel in a good location!”
Although on a busy street, the Catalonia Atocha is in a good location- about halfway between the area of the Prado museum area and to Plaza Mayor. There is a train station on the same street and a nice breakfast place, the Paneria a block away. The room was spotless, the beds comfortable, and although on that busy street, they gave us a room in the back that was quite comfortable. Also had a fantastic pitcher of sangria up in the rooftop - nice way to unwind after a long day of sightseeing!
Excellent hotel. Very quiet rooms”
Great service. Small rooms. Close to train station and museums. Easy walk to center sand la Cuenca. Very helpful staff. Large bathroom. Everything well designed. Great buffet. Enjoyed the hotel and would stay again when we return to Madrid. A real gem in a big city. Good price
very good location, comfortable, nice”
My husband and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in June. When we arrived late at night, the receptionist told us that our room is no longer available. Then she offered a so called "upgrade" to a better room. The offered room was on the first floor, facing a noisy street and I can never consider it an upgrade. My husband couldn't sleep the first night and we decided to leave the hotel next day in the morning. However, the next day, they changed the room, and this time to a very lovely and quite room on top floor. the room was very comfortable and very nice decorated, and the bathroom was very clean. Breakfast was not so good with just few choices. The location of hotel is absolutly great, close to many attraction of madrid. We really enjoyed our stay in beautiful city of Madrid. I recommend this hotel, however, don't forget to ask for a room on upper floors, and avoid the first floor specially street facing rooms.
Perfect location ”
this hotel is amazing, not just comparing prices with accommodation :)..the rooms are perfectly designed, the rooms are spacious enoug, so the bathroom is. pretty quiet. the hotel is set off in the city centre,in between of two metro stops that are within short walking distance (if u need it at all. hotel stuff is very pleasent and reliale.on my way back to the airport, i saw i forgot the phone in the room, so the hotel stuff sent it right away.i am satisfied client and the only complaint would be the price of the food in the restaurant. warm reccomendation for stay in this hotel.
we had a very luxurious stay. yes, the rooms are small but then again, you only spend the night in the room when you sleep & therefore it's more than adequate. it is +/- 500m away from the rafe train station which is very convenient especially if you are planning day trips. it is also 1min away from the metro station & from there you can explore the whole of madrid. overall i can recommend this hotel & will stay there again if the opportunity will arise to go back to spain. great restaurants & bars close by & the tourist information centre is 10min walk away.
Very good location within about 10 minutes walk of Mafrif Atocha train station. Very nice room for one person (15 sq. Metres), a couple should probably go for the slightly larger room. But all in all a great hotel in my experience
Nice hotel in Madrid”
This is a nice hotel set in a good location. The street it's on is not the nicest in Madrid but a short walk from the plazas and main areas. Comfortable rooms (if not a little dark, lack of lighting made applying make up in the bedroom a little tricky) no complaints. Staff were friendly and rooms cleaned promptly each day. Didn't try the food so can't comment on that. Overall a nice standard of hotel.
Clean, friendly and very comfortable”
The breakfast at the hotel was good value and convenient. The rooftop lounge area is small but nice. It is not a pool but like a jacuzzi, but it did the trick for cooling off and refreshing legs after a day of walking Madrid in the heat. The beds were comfy and the showers in the bathroom were heavenly. Would stay again if I went back to Madrid for travels.
Value for Money with all that you need”
It was a wonderful stay at the hotel. Fairly closer to the Airport and in the city center. Very closer to Antón Martín metro too. The hotel was clean, rooms were very nice, classy and very clean . Service of front desk was good and they were very helpful. Not to forget the Jacuzzi and view from the terrace was also very soothing.
