I have stayed here with my 14 years old son. Our stay was a huge success. The location is very convenient, we used a lot the bus. The room was clean and beds were comfortable. The stuff were very helpful and welcoming. They helped with whatever question we had. We had an issue with the water pressure and even that was addressed immediately. We had breakfast at the hotel, which was varied and tasty. In this neighborhood you may find nice restaurants and cafes, and less corded then the center. The swimming pool is small but we haven’t used it. To conclude, next time in Barcelona, we will choose again the Catalonia Born because of all those many advantages and the value for money.
Dear Daphna, We appreciate your comments about our hotel. It makes us proud to meet the needs of our customers in the best way we can. If you are going to return to our city, do not hesitate to call us. Best regards,
Great hotel in top location”
Stayed 4 nights in the Catalonia Born, room 8 on the ground floor. A huge room ( the sofa was a bed so possibly was a triple room) massive bathroom, big shower, separate bath. Well fitted out. Small but nice rooftop pool , nice deckchairs, shaded area with table and chairs. Free wifi, works strangely, had to keep logging in via hotel website. Free computers/printer in lobby, staff very helpful. Buffet Breakfast but at 16 euros expensive. Plenty of close alternative, great bakery in same street. Location great, in quiet narrow street, 2 little supermarkets within 50 metres, plenty of restaurants , great tapas bars within 5 min walk. (try La Candela , outside area in the church square, and Mosquito, fantastic Vietnamese restaurant/bar, great dumplings) cool neighborhood feel. one minute to the Arc d'Triomphe and it's great plaza, La Ciutedella Park. 10 min walk to La Ramblas, Plaza Catalunya. Got a taxi (approx 6 euro ) to La Sagrada Familia. Book online to avoid the queue. Seemed very safe location, would definitely recommend .
Very nice hotel with large rooms”
We loved this hotel for our second stay in Barcelona. The area is much more unique and less touristy than Las Ramblas. The rooms and bathrooms were huge (which was a nice change from other European hotels). I would, without a doubt, stay at Catalonia Born again.
nice and quite place to explore the inner city”
honestly, the main reason to choose this hotel was to have a place very close to the start of the barcelona half marathon (mitja maratona). but it turned out to be a good decision, because the hotel is clean, affordable and nice. it's not outstanding but fair value for money and a good place to explore the city. metro + train station "arc the triomphe" is just round the corner, if you walk a few minutes towards the inner city you find yourself amist vibrant life of el born quarter - with lot's of shops and tapas bars. main sightseeing attractions like the cathedral "la seu", the modernisme building "palau de la música catalana" or the gothic church of santa maria del mar are within walking distance - in fact we crossed the inner city of barri gotic and st.pere/el born/ribera quite a few times, discovering nice places every time. the rooms are ok but not overwhelming, wifi is free and works (but i lost connection sometimes maybe due to being located in the 7th floor), breakfast offers reason choice and quality - except for the coffee - we definitely found much better coffee all over barcelona. tea in general doesn't seem to be a spanish core competency, so i wouldn't blame the hotel for not surprising in this area. enjoying the rooftop pool wasn't an option due to february temperatures - but it looked clean and should be a nice place to relax in warmer months.
Great location, cozy feel”
Price is very reasonable, very clean, hotel is small, room was comfortable though with large bathroom and balcony overlooking the street. Location great, in trendy Born area steps away from Barri Gotic and metro/ bus. Had a great free snack and espresso bar in evenings. One thing to mention is that sound carries, and in morning/night, we could often hear people coming and going, doors shutting. We used sound machines to block out the noise, so it was not a problem.

The staff in this hotel are without exception friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location for exploring Born and the Gothic quarter and you can walk to the beach in about 15 mins. There are many local shops, cafes, bars and tapas each of a high quality but reasonable prices and not a chain anywhere until you are in the cathedral area. If you want to experience Barcelona without the tourist traps, this is the place to stay.Would highly recommend and will definitely return here
Dear Thomas, thank you for your review. We are truly happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. We hope to see you on another occasion. Best regards!!
great location, decent hotel”
Good hotel. Basic but with a lot of extras. The room was no frills - basic but clean and good enough. Not luxury but also not bad. Not too small and had a window that opened onto a neighborhood alley. The bed was not the best but not the worst. The bathroom was very well stocked with all the little extras including this magic shoe cleaning sponge that works amazingly well. The staff is very professional and helpful. The breakfast buffet is excellent. My only complaint is that the dishes at breakfast were not very clean - this is something they could easily improve. The location is great - on a quiet street right next to the Arc de Triomf and subway station. I heard music every day and could walk to the park in a few minutes, the Born district in 10 minutes, the other Gotic areas in 20, Las Ramblas in 30...
Good location, poor breakfast”
It is next to the Arc de Triomph, underground is near and a little walk to the Ramblas. The room is nice, tidy, clean, view to the areaway, but not dark. The bathroom is well-equipped, there are a bath and also a douche. The breakfast was not included in the price, but we could have had and paid in the hotel. We decided to eat breakfast, but after we have seen, we changed our mind. We moved there from another 4* hotel in Barcelona, where we ate breakfast as a king for 9 €. In Hotel Barcelona Born we could have the tenth of it for 10 €. Really, really poor. Although it is not a big problem, because there are a lots of bakery and supermarket nearby. One more negativeness: we paid the whole amount in advance - as we thought... but we should pay one more tax in the hotel which was a new tax in the city - as we were told, but why did they not send an e-mail to inform us about it?
Much better than expected”
the hotel is in a great location. easy walking distance to the barcelona zoo, the estacio de franca train station, resturants, port area and beaches. the arc de triumph park is within a few hundred feet from the hotel front door where you can walk all the way to the zoo and gardens. the hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. the rooms were clean and good size for my family of four with reasonable prices. the hotel is a short distance from the tour bus stops and down the street is a public laundry facility. i was at first put off by the online pictures of the front of the hotel, but when you arrive, you will like it.
Great Place ”
Considering the price and location, I will stay at the same hotel again if I go back to Barcelona. If you are looking for a luxury place, this is not a 5 star hotel, However the hotel is modern, clean, with the roof pool, and nice staff. It is located slightly away from the touristy area which makes it quiet; however convenient to walk there. I didn't get breakfast included as i wanted to try local restaurants; however, I had their open buffet breakfast twice and it was worth it. Their breakfast is with local and fresh products and very well diverse for different taste.
Dear Ramtin, Thank you for your comment and for choosing our hotel. We are happy that you have enjoyed your stay and we hope to have you again as a guest at our hotel. Best regards,
great location lovely hotel”
Really enjoyed our stay lovely narrow streets with supermarket and eating places close by within walking distance of the ramblas gothic quarter the Zoo placa catalonia where you can get buses to anywhere in Bacelona, the Metro which was excellent. Staff were helpful and friendly. The room was lovely with bath and walk in shower. good choice of breakfast as well.
I enjoyed my stay at Catalonia. Except the sound isolation is not so good. I could hear what was going on outside clearly. WiFi required for password Every time. I'll remember Catalonia Princessa for the rest of my life :)
The hotel is located in Born which is an excellent neighborhood with lot of shops and restaurant within walking distance and just 5 mins from the Metro station. The staff were friendly and helpfully. The room is clean and functional. The complementary snack bar is an excellent benefit.
Thank you Chingyi for sharing your personal experience with us. It is a pleasure to see that the staff and the hotel exceed your expectations. We hope to see you soon. Best regards.
Budget but comfortable in a prime location”
Nice stay. Comfortable bed. Room was noisy both with other guests and the piping system, but we were often so tired after a big day that this mattered little. Brilliant location - although actually in Born and not Barri Gottic (Born is just as good!). We walked everywhere - a great hotel to see the beautiful sights of barcelona.
In the heart of born, the new young area”
It is in the heart of the developing area of born, lots of restsurants, bars & cafes The hotel has a small swimming pool & Gym as well. The stuff is freindly & helpfull. Every day, from 17:00 , in the bar, coffee , sandwiches & more for free till late in the evening Real value for money.
Dear Chen, thank you for your review. It is a pleasure to see you enjoyed our facilities. We hope we can see you next time you visit Barcelona Best regards!
Centrally Located Clean Hotel”
When we arrived we were told they were actually full so they put us in their other hotel a few blocks up. Although I was disappointed they had not contacted me to tell us (my mother had just arrived from a. Long flight from NZ) it was very clean, large rooms and the staff were very friendly. The breakfast was great and both hotels are right in the middle of the action in Barcelona. Would definitely stay here again.
Great location, decent hotel”
The Catalonia Born is a perfectly decent hotel in a fantastic location. It's less then 5 minute walk from the Arc de Triomf (also the nearest Metro stop) and is surrounded by fantastic little restaurants, bakeries, bars, and a terrific gourmet food market. Less than 15 minute walk to La Rambla and all the city center stuff. Breakfast was not included in our stay so we cannot comment on the restaurant, but we found a great little restaurant with a 3 EUR offerta of breakfast sandwich and great coffee right in front of the Arc. The Air Conditioning was a blessed relief in August, but it never got the room down below about 25 no matter what it was set on. This was consistent in both the ground floor room we stayed in the first time and the third floor room we stayed in the second time.
In a quiet yet busy area, recommended. The position on the old city is brilliant, quiet at night.”
Pros : in a nice area of Barcelona, away from the husslers and the bus load tourists. Excellent breakfast choice and quality. Surrounded by restaurants within a stone throw from the hotel so no need to worry about where to eat. Friendly helpful staff. Your bags are quickly conveyed from the street. Comfortable beds and pillows. Cons: none that I could see. It is in a restricted area of town I.e. bollards at street entrances do not allow all vehicles through but taxis are no problems- maybe that is a pro, after all.
Dear Geoffrey, thank you for your review. It is a pleasure to see you stay was good. We hope to see you on your next visit to the city. Best regards!!
Easy to get to and close to some great areas (chocolate museum, sagrada familia, catalonia square). Some great little restaurants right on the street. Fantastic sushi across the street and little Chilean restaurant just down the street. There was a lot of noise from the streets, but that is normal for the area.
Great location and value for money”
The hotel is extremely well located to tour Barcelona.. Metro 5 mnts/ Town centre 15 mnt walk .. . Rooms are very spacious and the bed is perfect to sleep after a long day of walking. The bathroom is very large with a tub as well as a seprate rain shower stall.Overall cleanliness good and staff are friendly. I did not have breakfast so cannot comment. There are several bakeries in the vicinity . The hotel serves snacks from 2 pm to 11 pm to all their guests at no charge ...
Dear Imtiaz, thank you for your lovely review. We are truly happy you enjoy your stay with us. We hope to see you soon on another occasion. Best regards!!
