Gorgeous Hotel in an Excellent Location”

Great buffet breakfast, centrally located, big rooms

Our stay at the Catalonia Las Cortes Hotel was excellent! Our room was big and roomy, though we only had one small window that looked into the center of the building. The bed (actually two Twin-size beds pushed together) was huge and very comfortable. There was a small desk, two closets, and a chair in our room--no dressers with drawers, which would have been nice. The bathroom was also big, with a a decently-sized tub and a marble sink. All in all, a great room. The hotel was also beautiful, though a little easy to miss on the first go-around (though there's a large sign on the side of the building, the front door looks a bit like a window. The staff was very helpful and friendly and spoke excellent English, and the breakfast was just 10 euros per person (per day) and featured a wide variety of meats, cheeses, traditional breakfast foods (both Spanish -- churros -- and American -- eggs and bacon). Perhaps the best part about the hotel was its location -- the Prado and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums are literally right around the corner, and the Reina Sofia is a ten-minute walk downhill. Puerta del Sol, one of the main shopping areas, is about a five minute walk away, as well. There are also plenty of cute, small restaurants less than a minute from the hotel, and the area is quite lively at night.

Elegant hotel - clean room and friendly staff”

Cleanliness and security are always the first two concerns when I look for a hotel. We stayed in a double room for three nights and Catalonia Las Cortes Hotel did not disappoint me. The room and the public area are neat and clean. The safe is big (some are kind of small, you know) and fixed to the wall inside the wardrobe. Also, there is only one entrance for guests so anyone entering the hotel would be noticed by the reception to spot strangers. In addition, the lights in room are sufficiently strong which we love too (some hotel room make it dim (may be to create an atmosphere for sleeping?) and I find it not easy to see whether the room corners/bedsheets/furniture/etc are clean or not.). We also love the free snacks area not only because of the food and drinks but also the two computers which let me handled some work stuff that could not be displayed on the phone browser. We like it and would certainly stay here if we visit Madrid again!

Beautiful hotel, friendly service, great location”

Modern amenities; individual heat/AC control; huge bed

We had a great four-night stay at the Catalonia Las Cortes Hotel. All the staff members we encountered were friendly throughout our stay. The hotel itself does a great job in combining historical elements of the building (natural wood stairwell and flooring) with modern amenities (individual room-controlled heating & AC; wonderful and spacious bathroom that includes a shower room and separate tub). Although our room featured a balcony with a street view, the double-doors kept any noise from entering our room. The location is also great, as it is an easy walk to the Prado, the Reina Sofia, Puerta del Sol, and all of the great bars and restaurants in between.

A good hotel, great location and comfortable stayt”

Clean and modern, great location

We had booked the Catalonia Las Cortes Hotel but a room there was not available. However, we were escorted a short distance away to a sister hotel, the Catalonia Plaza Mayor Hotel where we were given a very nice room and free breakfasts as compensation. The location was, if anything, slightly better than the hotel we had booked, and the standard was identical, so were were perfectly happy with the move. The hotel was clean and modern, excellent facilities and our room was spacious and quiet, overlooking the central courtyard. An excellent bed and a beautiful bathroom.

Comfortable, cosy hotel ; excellent location.”

Location - Lovely feel -

We greatly enjoyed our stay in this lovely cosy hotel. Beautiful room, quiet, comfortable. The location is also perfect, near and also away from the "Sol" buzz! It is very easy to travel from and to the airport just using the shuttle bus that stops by "Cibeles" (walking distance to the hotel). We would no hesitate to book a room at Catalonia Las Cortes Hotel again. Thank you!

The hotel is in a perfect location within walking distance of the Prado, Retiro park and many restaurants and cafes

we absolutely loved the catalonia las cortes hotel. the room was spacious, well decorated with a large bathroom. the breakfast was on special offer @ 16 euros per couple which was excellent value, offering full cooked or continental. the location was ideal in close proximity to st ana plaza which has a selection of good standard restaurants and bars. we are seasoned travellers and i am very fussy about hotels standards and quality, for the price catalonia las cortes did not disappoint. we will be back !

Flawless!”

Location, comfort, cleanliness, attentive staff, reasonable price

i stepped off the plane in madrid with no plans. dropped 2 euros in the internet kiosk for 27 minutes of connection, went to trip advisor, looked at a few hotels, chose this one because it was centrally located and in the top 5 on their list. i got pricing through agoda because i've had excellent experiences with them in the past. got this room for per night (2 nights). jumped on the 'yellow bus' (another 2 euros) and got dropped just a few blocks from the hotel within 20 minutes. in the 'tips' section i learned to ask for a king bed, courtyard view (i like it quiet). the room was huge, as quiet as i had hoped. the front desk staff was excellent and helpful (and spoke perfect english). the room was clean and kept clean. the bed was hard, as mentioned in nearly every review - i like a firm mattress but this was extreme - consider yourself warned! it was fine for me though. i also appreciated that their normal checkout is noon - that seems later than most hotels. also had free wifi. this location is as centrally located as you can be - about 1/2 way between the presidential palace and the retiro(sp) park. all in all, highly recommend this hotel and agoda travel.

Comfortable room; close to museums, railway and central plazas; Friendly and helpful staff.

I had a good stay at the Catalonia Las Cortes. There were some problems with the wifi during my stay but apparently they were transitioning to a new system. Otherwise has everything you need and in a great spot for exploring Centro and Chueca.

Nice Hotel in beautiful Madrid”

We stayed there 2 nights for a weekend. Good location in one of the small tide side-streets. Very friendly staff, from check-in, to the bar tender. We got a nice spacey corner room on the higher floor! Normal equipped. No old smelly carpeting but a wooden floor, clean room, and bed good. The aircon silent and relatively smooth. With an exzellent Mini-Bar for reasonable prices and free soft drinks and as mentioned from other travelers. Some small free bites and fruits executive-floor style in the lobby at the afternoon. (I loved the ice-tee! ) we usually stay in the big chain Hotels as frequent travelers. But if we return to Madrid we will most likely stay here again.

Fantastic Hotel, A+ all around!”

Excellent location, friendly staff, clean and in good order, luxury at an affordable price!
The only weakness I can think of is that the wi-fi signal was strongest in the bathroom! However, the bathroom was so huge I actually just pushed an armchair in there and used my laptop in the bathroom!

This hotel was an excellent value for the money. I think it was reasonably priced for such luxury and such a nice breakfast it was a real bargain. The location was perfect because it was close enough to the tourist attractions, but enough out of the way to be a classier more upscale locale. It was a quick walk to all the major sites. The buffet breakfast was to die for, it was so delicious! Great variety of hot and cold foods of very high quality. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The room was comfortable and had a nice view. The bathroom was huge and the hot water was endless with great water pressure. Free wi-fi in the room was a big bonus. The bar was very nice downstairs and I noticed that many people used it morning and night to have drinks, coffee, play cards, etc. The hotel was clean and in good order, all linens and towels were in good condition. I loved this hotel and would definitely return here.

Nice hotel in central location”

Location is perfect as it is close to everything

i have stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in august 2012. the stay was very pleasant as the hotel is well maintained though in an old building. staff is very friendly and helpful. the biggest pro is its very central location, being close to all three museums, plaza de sol, and plaza major etc. everything is within 10 minutes walking distance. the only downside to me was that the room was well isolated from noise coming from outside, but not from noise inside the hotel. you can clearly hear people walking and talking in the corridor, so this becomes an issue at night when you try to sleep. other than that i have nothing else to complain.

The hotel is beautiful. The room was clean & had everything you need. They even provided a smart phone that you could use for international calls & take with you to use in the city while you’re exploring. It was very useful for us since our cell phones didn’t have service overseas. The hotel also has free tapas from 1:00-Midnight. It was Fantastic!
