There is a little old, but nice hotel, in case you make decision you should consider that only few hotels , including this one at Cat Ba have direct access to beach , silence, there is not construction work near now, the breakfast Pho, eggs, bacon , sausage, vegetables, fruits are provided

The stay was pleasant, location was awesome, view from the room was beautiful. The staff was co operative & helpful. We had an issue with the shower which they attended to & solved it. Would recommend to stay at this place.

Everything seems so old. Sauna was smelly with bugs. Pool and slider was fun for children and parent of children. Good view to the sea.

We visited Cat Ba during a low traveling season, so the resort was pretty empty. The pools were really nice, but actually super cold. Beach was not as private as expected, but we liked the easy access to the short hike. The room was okay—bed was incredibly squeaky and loud (just shifting your sleeping position made the bed creak and move) and the walls are super thin. Breakfast was just okay. Not sure why, but reception rushed us to check out on time even though we were two of very few guests at the resort; they called multiple times reminding us to check out on time. Keep in mind buses won't take you all the way up to the resort. It'll drop you off at the bottom of the hill and you'll have to walk up.

Out of its prime!”
This hotel has so much potential however it is so rundown that it's nearly unusable. The staff was very unwelcoming and would only turn tbe slides on for minutes at a time, allowing us to use only one slide a day. My daughter would cry when they turned them off. There is a lot of jubj everywhere and the staff is always sitting around the tables or on the lawn chairs having coffee and being unproductive. One would think they would be using the slow time of year to maintain the place but sadly this is not the case. The restaurant was ok, we chose to eat in town as most of the food was old since no one was staying there. The fruit was bad by the time it got to our table and the food was pricier than most places in vietnam. We have been traveling south east aisa for 3 months now and this is the first place that was disappointing to us. I bet it only has a few years left before they close their doors unless some major upkeep or renovations are done.

TLDR: Do not book this. Do not. No. You have been warned. Oh boy, where to begin. This is not a four star resort. I'm not sure if it even qualifies for a hotel. A motel, maybe. Four stars out of a hundred. From the get go, we should've noticed when there was 0 replies to our queries sent to them (on things like checkout extension) since 2 months before our stay. In this day and age, they have no WhatsApp presence, so email it is. But there were no replies. On the day of our arrival, the bus into Catba could not drop us off at the door. You'll have to walk at least 300m uphill on a narrow road. The place was like a ghost town. The reception desk even, looked empty until we walked close and realised that the staff on duty was napping behind the counter. Good start. Staff had exceptionally poor command of english, even by Vietnam standards. I mean, the elderly tribal tour guides from Sapa were more communicative. The entire time we were there, we met no other guests. Yet they someone still allocated us a room in the block with the worst views. The entire place felt like it was 30 years past its prime. Sloppy paint job, cardboard thin doors, non-existant decor.. The room. My god. The spare mattress i bought for my guests from IKEA was of better quality. The bedding almost gave me abrasion. The toilet fixtures were loose, and crooked. Analog TV in 2022 anyone? No? How about an Analog TV that is locked into "Display/Demo mode" because its bought straight off a showroom. Epic. Well, can't review a resort without talking about ammenties now, can we? Except we can. Because there is none. The spa is closed indefinitely (despite the word "spa" literally being part of the name). The pool looked unmaintained, the water slides were turned off. They "offered" breakfast options with choices, but you dont get to choose. Says on the menu "apple or pineapple juice"? Take this glass of undiluted syrup! Oh and sorry, we won't turn on the aircon or the buffet line seeing that yo

Great resort for money spent”
I had a fantastic stay at Cat Ba Island Resort and Spa during my second trip to Cat Ba. I first want to say that my girlfriend and I were overjoyed by how we were treated at this resort. Because she is Japanese and I am white, we often experienced rude racism and maltreatment in spite of neither of us being Vietnamese. Regardless, Catba Island Resort made me feel like a valued guest and looked over my relationship and respected my girlfriend and I. I can’t stress enough how much that meant to me. Furthermore, on top of the friendly treatment I received, I was very happy with how great the free breakfast was as well as the dishes I had for dinner at their restaurant. Rooms were very comfortable and I had a lovely view of the ocean. I also enjoyed the pool, although I was a little disappointed that the water slide was closed. However several areas of the were being renovated. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will come back here in the future. Thank you so much!

Beautiful views and nice rooms”
I stayed at the Cat Ba Resort & Spa for 3 nights. It was close enough to town to walk easily there, but far enough away from the town to enjoy the serenity. The rooms are centrally heated and I always came back to the room at a good temperature. Staff are really nice and helpful. The free breakfast was great. The Pirate Bar is quite a nice and interesting bar. Highly recommended if you can get a good deal

We really liked the Catba Island Resort & Spa. We were so glad to finally get to the Island and then to see that the hotel was so beautiful. When we got into our room we were amased at the view of the other islands and little private bay from our room's balcony. The pools were delightful. Everything was great, we could have stayed much longer but sadly we only had two days on CatBa

For Cat Ba, overall standard is good”
I was a difficult client from the outset due to lack of genuine knowledge of Vietnam. On day one I complained about the quality of mattress and wanted a better bigger room and internet access fixed. I was almost ashamed by the manner in which management obliged my every request with prompt courteous assistance. And any other issues what so ever. The mattress issue was unresolvable, but you have to get your brain around the fact this is Vietnam and Cat Ba is some distance from the major cities where very good quality is obtainable. For Honeymooners I’d frown if someone told me they were going to Cat Ba for the beach. But we made the most of it and the management / staff are very compliant and genuine to an extreme; you will feel like the most important person staying there. I cannot emphasize enough the genuine effort made by all management in dining, your room and front counter to assist you and to help you be as comfortable as possible. I ask for help with our departure/return which involved a half day ordeal to our next location, the management went to tedious effort to supervise even this which was followed through with 4 hours after we had left. We were there 6 days. Value for money is good.
