The Hotel was clean. We got fresh towels and a room cleaning every day. The staff recieved of all our wishes, helped us in every situation and was very courteous. We would definitely come back!!!

Location is wonderful, a one minute walk to the waterfront, and the staff very kind. My price was good, though it was a special deal. They upgraded my room (no charge) to a balcony room which was very kind. The room was beautiful with a very nice balcony. The CONS? The shower was scalding or cool. I'm a homeowner in my 50s and after 30 minutes had to give up trying to solve it. Could certainly have just been my room (4th floor front). There are roosters on the street-facing side that go bananas very early and all morning. The hotel says there is breakfast on premises - there is even a restaurant/bar - just "not this month" (none of it is open). I was told that after check-in. It says there are coffee and tea making facilities - even coffee mugs in your room, but there are no coffee making facilities, no electric water pot. It is a short walk to cafes and bars on the waterfront, but if you're a "coffee/tea" in your room person, just be aware. I heard similar complaints from other travelers at other hotels, and this (breakfast and coffee facilities) happened to me in Hanoi as well (and on a tour, touting an island hike portion that hasn't allowed hikers for two years), so maybe it's a "thing" here in Vietnam. It's worth confirming before committing. My room price was doubling the next night so I told them I would be checking out, and they said there was nothing they could do. I went out, grabbed dinner, found another place to stay, and only when I returned was I told they would let me stay for the same price. Very nice of them, but too late, and the hotels here have a lot of vacancy. Unfortunate, but I'm now at a place that has the standards and amenities I wanted and it is even cheaper than my initial low price. That said, it's a fine place in a good location, my issues were minor ones of convenience and, later, price in comparison to others.

Friendly staff and nice hotel”
the fantasea exceeded our expectations. we spent two nights at the hotel while exploring cat ba island and were happy with our choice. the room was spacious and the bathroom was clean (although we're still confused why the shower train was outside the shower...interesting design). there is currently construction going on next door, which is unfortunate, because they start working pretty early in the morning. also, if your room is on one of the bottom floors your balcony will likely have a view of the wall of the building next door...not much the fantasea owners can do about it though, i suppose. i appreciated the effort the staff put into our stay - they served us cake when we arrived and brought fresh pineapple to our room the second night. they also arranged for us to rent motorbikes for the day to head up into the national park (highly recommended). the only blemish on their service record was the lengthy turnaround for a friend's laundry. our friend gave them a bag of laundry, which they promised to deliver the next morning by 9am. they did not. actually, it took them an additional 24 hours to get the laundry back to him right before we left. i guess the hotel doesn't have a dryer, so they hang dry guests laundry, which is obviously a problem when it rains on cat ba island. nevertheless, i'd still recommend the hotel.

Great rooms for great value”
I was staying on cat ba for a week and needed good Internet. I was recommended cat ba palace by another hostel. Rooms were newly renovated. They had hot water. Private bathrooms. Clean. Breakfast was included. Staff was very nice and helpful. They would leave some water in the room each day. You could rent a scooter to go around the island. You could ask for a bus to pick you up at the hotel to go to Hanoi. Internet was great. The building itself doesn't have any extra stuff but I didn't need anything extra personally. For the price tag, this place is a steal. I would definitely stay again.

Highly recommend”
I believe this is one of the best hotels in Cat Ba. The staffs were amazingly friendly and they had helped us a lot. We had some meals in the hotel, the price was 150,000 VND per person.The food was great and the chefs were so nice. The rooms were clean and nice. If there is one thing I must complaint then it would be the wifi connection was a little bit weak, rather than that it was totally fine. If we had the chance to come back again, Catba Palace would definitely be our choice.

Can’t fault a thing! ”
From the get go nothing but positive and warm welcomes from the staff - even scored a cheeky upgrade which never happens! Spacious and spotless room with comfy bed. Fast wifi if you’re bothered. Elevator which is a big treat when you’re on the 6th floor and last but not least a great choice of breakfast, fresh fruit and tea/coffee! The whole stay was lovely, located well in Cat Ba easy to get to everything! On my last night however I fell quite ill and stirred myself up in quite a panic - this was when the gentleman(maybe owner I think) on reception really went above and beyond in helping from fresh ginger tea in the morning, then followed up with another check up, was more than hospitable when I woke him in the lobby at 4am, offered us packed lunches - just his whole being towards me was so comforting and made me feel calmer The hotel is wonderful and a steal for what you pay, give the guys here a shot and you won’t be disappointed. the hotel is clean and tidy. the room we stayed in was very large and had all the best amenities. cat ba island is very cold during december so make sure to take warm clothes. cat ba island is also being developed very quickly so there is a lot of building going on all over the place. best to get here before it gets overdeveloped

Great place to stay in Cat Ba town”
Room was good sized, with couch and desk. Staff was very friendly and attentive, made sure we had everything we needed. 2min walk to the main street of Cat Ba town, with plenty of options for food and drink in the area. Close to the harbor for boating excursions. Definitely recommend staying here for a good room at a cheap rate.

Best hotel on Catba Island”
I Loved this hotel, the owner and staff are amazing, nothing is to much trouble, they are so helpfull. The breakfast is great value and my room was very comfortable and clean, it was also a much better room than I had book, as we were given a free upgrade. Thank you Catba Palace for making my few days on the island so good. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Good value for money ”
We were booked in to a different hotel, costing a similar amount, but checked out early because it was awful. Cat Ba Palace is much, much better. Bright, airy room with a balcony. Quiet location. Pleasant staff. The bathroom could do with refurbishment but there was plenty of hot water.

Great value for money!”
As a couple, we still felt like we saved some money but had a really comfortable stay in Cat Ba, as opposed to the many budget hostels on the island. Didn't arrange any tours or affordable transport (which we found easily elsewhere) but had a great breakfast menu and were happy to arrange a second-night at the same price very last minute!

Exoensive hotel but very nice luxury room”
the hotel was a little more than we would normally spend, but the room was lovely. Very light and spacious. Only 2 minutes walk to the main street in Cat ba town. Hotel provided motorbike rental at good price and staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Very good, cheap, just what we needed. Cat ba island was a great place to visit and because we spent 3 nights there this hotel was perfect as it was cheap, had aircon and we were looked after really well. they also booked train tickets and bus tickets for us to get to hanoi and then down to nha trang which saved us a lot of bother.

Cheap and quiet hotel”
Comparing to other hotels in cat ba, this one is really quiet. Even there was a construction site close by, it didn’t bother us. Breakfast was actually really good. There was not so many choises of different foods, but we enjoyed really much. Overall really pleased! Scooter rent is 100k dong/day, you can get it cheaper elsewhere.

I stayed in a room alone but it could actually accommodate 3 people. It was big and clean. The staff was nice and gave me an early check in. The food at the restaurant is over priced but so is everything in Cat Ba Island. I would avoid going on the weekends when rates are double the normal price.

Very friendly staff”
was a nice hotel that had all the amenities. staff were very friendly, however the cleaning staff had s habit of walking into your room when you were still there. i got the impression that there were cheaper hotels for pretty much the same type of room in cat ba, however if you don't want the hassle of just walking into a hotel this is a good choice
