If you are looking for complete comfort and a high level of service in a self-contained resort, then Cat Ba Sunrise is for you. When we were looking for places to stay on Cat Ba, this property came up as the most expensive option compared to other hotels on the island. However, after having stayed there for 8 days, my wife and I can safely say that it is worth paying the extra to stay here. The spacious and spotlessly clean room that we stayed in had a balcony and sea view, looking over the hotel swimming pool and into the bay. Truly wonderful and divine. The hotel restaurant was absolutely amazing with a great range of food choices at very reasonable prices. The breakfast that they serve you is plentiful with a huge choice so it is a delight to wake up to it, knowing what morning feast awaits you! Finally, Simon the general manager and his assistants, Dinh and others, did a great job to make us feel so welcomed here. We will book again! Sacha and Itzi (London)

Lovely, relaxing hotel. Stunning location”
Spent a week at cat ba sunrise resort; the location was excellent on a beautiful sandy beach. Plenty of comfortable sun beds on the beach and around the pool; beach towels freely available for guest use. All areas of the hotel including rooms were clean and gardens very well kept. Good breakfast in the restaurant and the beach bar was a lovely spot for a beer, cocktail, snack or lunch. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Cat ba itself is an ideal location for boat trips to other islands, Lan Ha and Ha Long bay

The Best in Cat Ba Island”
Overall, Cat Ba Sunrise Resort is a highly recommended beach hotel and can be considered as one of the best resort in the island. Well English speaking receptionist and the waitress. All the room has a sea view balcony. Quite environment surrounding by hill and facing with sea. I stayed in the Executive Room which equipped with jacuzzi and a separated living room. There are variety of food at the restaurant, you can simply stay in the hotel enjoy the beach and food without going out elsewhere. The only dissatisfaction is the bad WIFI connection, whereby you are hardly connected to the WIFI at your room.

I read some mixed reviews on this hotel, but was pleasantly surprised by how nice it is. Cat Ba downtown is a little like Myrtle Beach, honky tonk-ish. But this property was by far and away the best in the area, and secluded as well. Rooms, grounds, pool and staff were great. Food also good. Its not a 5 star hotel by world standards, but a 10 star compared to other hotels in Cat Ba. I paid $134 a night that included breakfast and dinner. Had a suite that was very nice. I stayed a month before at Intercontinental Nantrang for the same price. Much better place and beach, but this was really nice and by far the best in Cat Ba..... books your boat trip early (especially coming home). The boat fills up fast...

Exceptional”
Beautiful resort that was perfect for our honeymoon! Everything was amazing - the room, private beach, pool, etc. Perfect location that was quiet and away from Cat Ba Town, but still walking distance to the city. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, helping us arrange transportation to different parts of Vietnam for fair and reasonable pricing. Best resort on the island!

Nice hotel, friendly staff, noisy public beach”
Cat Ba Sunrise Resort is about 2 km outside of Cat Ba City, up a hill. It is directly next to the public beach Cat Ba 2, which is very popular with the Vietnamese, and you can be sure to hear Vietnamese families enjoying their swim from about 6.30 a.m. During the morning, you can also hear loud stumping music and entertaining announcements in Vietnamese, coming from a cranky old loudspeaker on the beach. The other thing which is not perfect in this hotel is the wifi - it works only every now and then, apparently, if you believe the management, due to the frequent thunderstorms. Otherwise, the place is a real treat - very friendly and helpful staff - the head receptionist speaks really good English, the others do their best - a good restaurant even serving decent wine, a large swimming pool ideal for kids. We booked a one day boat trip around Lan Ha Bay for some 160 US$, and it was really worth it - nice cruising along the rocky islands, kayaking, swimming, and a delicious lunch with absolutely fresh fish, squid and prawn on the boat.

Pretty and comfortable resort ”
the catba sunrise resort is a peaceful hideaway on spectacular catba, which is otherwise a bit stressful for tourists due to all of the tour touts and xe om drivers. the resort is right on a pretty beach and the view from my top-floor room was beautiful. the walkway connecting the resort to the next catco beach is a fun walk, and catba town is a short walk away as well (i would feel quite silly driving unless i had luggage) for convenient booking of tours if you don't wish to go through the resort. the included breakfast was very good and generous and the staff were friendly and kind. the resort was extremely quiet during my stay.

I loved Sunrise Cat BA!”
I loved Catba Sunrise Resort. Although the priciest place to stay on the island, this place had everything. Pool, swimming beach, bar, restaurant, beautiful rooms with gorgeous views, shops, massages, and also one great thing I didn't expect, the little taxis went straight from the resort in to town. There was always one waiting and they were dirt cheap. I really couldn't fault it at all apart from heaving myself up the stairs in the heat! No lift, but at least it gave me some fitness on the days we lazed around on the beach!!

Amazing location on a great property”
Catba Sunrise Resort sits on a beautiful, secluded beach within the Ha Long bay area and you have a great a great view of karst cliffs and some isles that dot the bay. Despite the seclusion you can easily walk into town in about 10 - 15 minutes or grab a taxi if desired. Staff were very helpful and courteous and made sure you had what you needed. Service was prompt; our rooms were very clean and well maintained. We were content to enjoy the beach and loungers and also had a pristine pool available to us if we wanted the change. There is a great gym on the property as well. We ate most of our meals on site: the breakfast buffet options were plentiful and of high quality and was more than enough. We enjoyed all other meals we had on site: either in the main restaurant or at the beach bar. We would definitely stay here again.

WOW What a place to stay”
We loved this hotel and can't praise it enough. On arrival we were given cocktails and cold towels, much needed after the trip from Haiphong on the ferry. We were then given a free upgrade to a Superior deluxe room with huge balcony 25m from the sea, the view was breathtaking. The staff were awesome and only to willing to go the little bit extra and always with a smile. The main town is a 15 minute walk away but at sunset it is well worth the walk, a taxi back is very cheap. Great food in the hotel but the seafood is delicious and very cheap in the main town so we mostly eat there. Cat Ba is worth the journey and the Sunrise is worth spending a little more to stay here but it is well worth the money 10/10. We will be back :)

We are first time visitors to Vietnam and a little uncertain about getting around. We were staying in Hanoi and decided to take a side trip to Cat Ba. The resort arranged a driver and bought our ferry tickets. Everything worked flawlessly. The driver picked us up at the right time and took us to the ferry terminal where an attendant met us and gave us our tickets. On the island there was a car waiting for us and took us directly to the resort. The return trip was just as good. We could not have asked for better service. At the resort we were greeted like royalty and the entire stay exceeded our expectations for quality of service. We also booked a boat tour of Halong Bay and a walking tour of the Park, through the resort. Both were great and also were handled flawlessly.

Nice Resort”
We had a nice stay at the Catba Sunrise Resort. The rooms are spacious and clean. We had a lovely view of the bay and the swimming pool. I had read many reviews criticizing their restaurant and so was delighted to find that their food was very good. The breakfast buffet was extensive and I had several Vietnamese salads that were fabulous. My one complaint would be that the management had decided to play very loud club music for several hours in the late afternoon as a summer treat for the young people and families swimming in the ocean. Great for the kids but did distract from the otherwise wonderful peace and quiet of the resort.

Stunning location”
this hotel lived up to its pictures on this site. it was better than we expected. a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk into cat ba town. it's the only hotel on this road past a new nightclub far enough away not to disturb. it felt homely, was clean and smart and well maintained. there was a beach for public and a raised area with beds for the hotel guests. we had a third floor deluxe room with a lovely view. rooms were a little on the small side but the bed was huge! breakfast was great. we didn't try the restaurant, it was a bit pricy in comparison to the town restaurant and we enjoyed an evening walk into town and eat.

Amazing Scenery, very beautiful hotel”
From the impressive gate/ entrance and the way to the resort reception and finally seeing the all hotel, It is purely beautiful. The hotel private beach is a WOW about the scenery. The rooms are very nice and the service is also very good. If you want to spend a nice relaxing beach holiday with a great view, it is highly recommended The hotel also owns a nice pool bar, i would defiantly liked it better than the other Cat Ba bars.

Nice Old School Resort on Rapidly Changing Island”
Catba Sunrise is good for those wanting an old school chinese colonial style resort. Beautiful setting on the best beach on Catba Island. The buffet breakfast is excellent, and listening to the waves crash on the shore at night in the outdoor bar is a plus. My only complaint has nothing to do with Catba Sunrise but with Catba Island and Halong Bay as a whole. Come to Catba and take a one day cruise of the bays, but unfortunately, due to industrialization of the ports to the north and east of Halong Bay, the water is not really for swimming. And Catba Island like all of Vietnam is in the middle of a crazy buildking and industrialization boom. Great for Vietnamese people, but not so great for tourism. However, if you come to Halong Bay pay the premium to stay at Catba Sunrise, enjoy the nice pool, listen to the waves crash. Also, please note; since there are really only three good beaches on Catba Island everyone comes to beach during day, but beach is your private beach at night.

A little paradise ”
This is the most beautiful hotel on all of Cat Ba Island. The rooms are spacious, clean and charming. The location is amazing. The beach with the bay and lime stones are right outside your window. Be sure to take a morning or early afternoon swim to avoid the crowds. The hotel pool is very nice as well. Breakfast was also very good for Asian standards.

Lovely setting”
Very nice. The resort helped us book a driver to and from Hanoi, set up tours for us, etc. When our driver's car broke down on the way back to Hanoi, he put us in a taxi. He must have told the resort, because they called the next day to see if we wanted some money back! We didn't; we had made it too Hanoi, and the car trouble wasn't anyone's fault. Very nice service from Cat Ba Sunrise.

A bit expensive ”
It's a bit expensive,the best hotel as well.It's only 1kilometer from the wharf to Haiphong.And the hotel offers the pick up and drop off service.The staffs are kind,enthusiastic and speak fluently English.Compared with the room charge,the food of the restaurant is really cheap and so delicious.It possesses its own beach.and we can walk through the mountain for reaching cat ba 2 beach.What a beautiful scenery!But we are in off season.The weather is a bit cold.we need to use air conditioning for heating.Anyway,the beach is amazing but a few people.
