Exceptionally clean, updated, friendly boutique hotel in a superb location. Highly recommended!”
We booked last minute for 1 night. I wish I could have stayed here for our whole trip to Paris. The Caulaincourt Square Hostel is located on a picturesque tree-lined street in the heart of Montmarte. Close to cafes & shops and the Metro is just a 2 minute walk. We were greeted by a friendly desk staff who were eager to make sure we had everything we needed. They even called a local restaurant to make a dinner reservation for us! Both the lobby and our room were fresh and bright and very clean. Everything felt updated and new. Our room was up two floors, no lift, but the staircase was wide and well lit and not at all difficult to navigate, even with luggage. Our room was compact, but very comfortable with a desk area and large window that opened. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious and exceptionally clean. Breakfast was simple: croissant, cereals, coffee, juice. They even held our luggage in a dedicated locked closet for a few hours past checkout. Highly recommend! Would book again!
favorite hostel in paris!”
easily accessible by metro, in the beautiful neighborhood of montmartre away from the bigger hustle and bustle of central paris, fruit shops and many restaurants/cafes nearby, a stones throw from the moulin rouge... i book my stay exclusively here every time i come to paris. recent renovations have left the hostel fresh, sleek, contemporary, and inviting. great for solo travelers, a couple, best friends, or in a group! highly recommend. merci, caulaincourt!!
Everything touristy is more or less walking distance but the Lamarck metro is 2 mins away and provides a simple and very easy access to attractions. The area is a predominantly residential so you'll be getting the full local Parisian experience. There are little to no tourists which I enjoyed but there are loads of restaurants/cafes, laundromats, supermarkets, bakeries, etc. I absolutely loved this area and would definitely stay here again. A taxi ride to Gare du Nord is also only 10 mins away which cost me €4 (with a discount). Sacre Coeur is a 5 mins walk where there is also the Montmarte Village. Mind that these places are more expensive catering for tourists. To give an idea, it took about 1 hour to walk to the Eiffel Tower but absorbing the architecture and everyday way of life was made it seem miniscule. Also check out the very lively Rue Lepic, its 3 min walk away from the hotel. The hotel was recently renovated and is absolutely cute. The team was also very friendly. Thank you!
We absolutely love this hostel. It's a few mins walk to the metro station, and is located in the nice neighborhood of Montmartre. We got a private twin room with shower. The room was clean and small. it was nicely decorated, and it offered a wonderful view of the city. The beds were comfortable and the beddings were clean. Wifi was good. There was a television, but there was no fridge in the room. There was no a/c too but it gets cool at night and early morning so we didnt have any issue with it. Bathroom was small too but functional. The hostel didnt have an elevator, and the staircase was steep, but we were aware of it. It may be a challenge though to carry your luggages to and from the lobby. They also have a storage room where you can leave your luggages. Breakfast included croissant, baguette, butter/jam, coffee, juice, cereals. The dining area looked nice. We got in the hostel around 1PM and was told that check in time was at 4PM. We found it a little late however.
good value for money”
Room is small but Im already expecting it since this is Paris. My room only has a shower and there's a shared toilet nearby and it is kept clean. There's a free breakfast which consist of bread, cereal, coffee and juice. The location is good but be aware that there's a lot of stairs! So if you have a large baggage you'll have a hard time unless you a very fit. All in all I find this hostel ok, and will certainly go back given a chance.
Heart of Montmartre”
Great location close to the Sacre Coeur Cathedral and a short walk to Pigalle and the entertaining night life close to Moulin Rouge. Free Breakfast included which is always nice.
Good location ”
Was in Paris for Uefa Euro 2016. The hostel is located close to Moulin Rouge with many restaurants in walking distance. 3 minutes walk from the metro. The rooms are a little bit small but is okay for the price.
I would stay there again”
The hostel is located in a lovely area and easy to find. From what I saw the room was pretty clean to me. And I met some really cool people there. The included breakfast was good. So all in all, i would stay there again
Very nice hostel. The location is good and the breakfast was great. We had a private bathroom, and space inside the bathroom was very limited, but everything else was great. The wifi also worked great.
Great for a Hostel”
The location is about a 30 min metro ride from most tourist attractions and museums. It is perfect if you want the starving artist hostel in Montmartre experience. The Free Breakfast is just a croissant, bun, cereal, coffee and OJ. There is no protein offered. Also the hostel has no air conditioning, and is unclean. There was mold growing in our private bathroom. The WIFI is Perfect! The staff was great!
Clean Hostel and Courteous Staff at Caulaincourt”
We enjoyed our stay at the Caulaincort Hostel - the staff were courteous and helpful and even allowed us to have breakfast the morning we brought our bags to drop off before check in. The hostel and our room were both clean. The area is a quick walk to the metro but in a slightly sketchy part of town. We felt safe in our room but not as safe walking to and from the metro in the evenings. The rooms were a medium small size - bathrooms were quite small (no extra room for moving around unless you had the door open) but were clean and the shower and toilet were clean and functioning. We were glad that the room also included a lock box to help us feel secure leaving valuables! The spiral and steep stairways were a little difficult with bags and no elevators were available. We had some minor problems with noise - people talking loudly on cell phones in the hallway and noise outside the window late at night (around 2 am some nights).
The place is absolutely beautiful. I have never seen hostel like this. Very clean. But the only thing is about the stairs. If you bring few luggages, you’ll struggle with them
Very good Hostel”
I liked this Hostel very much, everything was perfect. Would go back any time, I recommend it others too. Super friendly staff. Clean.
No elevator, had to walk many stairs, but still a great hostel and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Very nice, well decorated hotel in a quiet Montmartre area at a correct price for a double room”
Pleasant hotel, in a very quiet area, easy to reach by metro with nice restaurants, shops around. Double room a bit small but for 4-5 days quite OK. Breakfast a bit limited but good quality. Would be nice to add some cheese and fruits for ex.
Nice people and nice place to stay”
I used it for one night transit flight in Paris. In overall it was good.
Old guy is unpleasant but hostel is clean.”
It was a nice stay as the beds and bathroom were all tidy except for the pantry which was a little mess. What gave me 3 stars for most of the categories is the attitude of the old guy from the reception. He's not friendly and seems a bit rude when I tried to explained that there was an early check-in (10-11 am) confirmation from the hostel via request made from Agoda. Regardless if I'm wrong or not the way he talked is unacceptable. Not sure if he is racist but he seems to like other nationalities as he made pleasantries with other people. Hell he gave me a look as if I'm not supposed to be there when I came back to check-in on time. He somehow tried to explained his side but my impression bout him doesnt change.
the location was ok.the staff was ok.didnt seem to be very special as a boutique hostel.Worth to stay if for short trip.
Decent hostel, nothing fancy. Breakfast alright with baguette, croisant and some cereal, friendly staff.
Filthy in-room bathrooms”
I stayed here two separate nights, once in a dorm, the other in a single. Both bathrooms were disgusting. I don’t think they’d ever been cleaned. Soap scum everywhere, hair, filthy toilet...just gross. The rooms are really small, and the dorm was just a tiny room they plopped 3 beds in. No lockers, no individual plugs...definitely not ideal. The single also reeked of cigarettes. I’m really not sure why this place is rated so well, except that hostels in Paris are generally lousy. The breakfast and location do help this one a bit.
