nice and quiet ”
+ if you are a tourist , this hotel has perfect location + staff are very nice and helpful + simple yet good breakfast + 2min walk from Tram + wide windown in room and nice design of hotel - No hot water boiler in rooms , cant make my own hot drinks - No complementary water - TV channels are worst thing here , not important for me yet i must mention this
Good location to explore the old city Helpful staff, even though there was a misunderstanding they were able to hear us out and ensure that all issues were resolved. Breakfast was average Rooms are small but as expected for the old city Good management and staff who could communicate well in English
Great location and staff”
We stayed at Celal Sultan twice - once for 4 nights on the way into Turkey to see Istanbul, and another night on the way out. Staff were very nice and accommodating, and helped us with getting tickets to local areas of interest. Went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable, and very service oriented. The breakfasts were great, and the location of the hotel is perfect. Looking out our window every night and seeing Hagia Sofia lit up was a special treat. Will definitely go back and recommend to our friends traveling to Istanbul!
The Celal Sultan Hotel is a great choice to stay in Istanbul. It is a nice, small, intimate hotel with good amenities, a friendly and helpful staff and a great location for seeing all of the sights in Istanbul. The price I obtained through Agoda was excellent and much better than comparable properties. If I return to Istanbul I will definitely book this hotel again.
Amazing location and value’s worth”
Pros: location, friendly staff, upgraded to superior room Cons: air condition unit was in foyer and was not working too well in the summer heat, breakfast spread is sufficient but could be improved, sink had some stains
Great location ”
If you care about location go for this hotel. Literally one block away from hagia Sofia. Clean rooms and size is basic. It has all you need if you don’t plan to spend much time in the hotel. Recommend it
Think twice before boooking this hotel. Staff is great but Management Problems! ”
We book the triple room. They place us at the old wing. However, when we entered the room, the room condition was really bad! Falling pieces from the ceiling. Crack ceiling. Dirty toilets. Unsafe(broken) toilet door knobs. Room was in dirty condition. We took some pictures and show it to Mr Aziz the receptionist. After few arguments, he changed our room to the new room at the new wings. . I was disappointed as this hotel was rated 8.3 at booking.com & 8.4 at agoda. How the management can rent out this room when the room's condition is very bad. Not safe to stay at this particular room. I found later that they have some management issue. . Other that this issue, the staff are really friendly especially the bell boy, the restaurant staff, & others. I personally think this hotel need a new management and upgrade their facilities.
A great LOCATION to stay”
The hotel is situated at an ideal location, right in the middle of all the attractions i.e. Hagia Sophia museum, Topkapi Museum and Blue Mosque. Considering the price I got around US$ 35 per day , this was a great value for money hotel. The breakfast was also very good especially those french fries and chicken sausages :) Overall a good stay !!!
Lovely Sultanahamet hotel”
The hotel is already rather old, but it has retained its charm. The rooms it seem have been refurbished. The bathroom was large which we really liked. Towels were rather worn out. Breakfast not good at all. Service from front office staff, just acceptable. Night staff much better. Location just perfect. Wouldn't mind staying here again ...
Very Convenient location”
We didn't make a mistake choosing to stay at sultanahamet area over Taksim sqaure hotels. The charm of the old city is disarming. This hotel is in the heart of the old town, most of the attractions are just walking distance. It is also located in a very quiet neighborhood. The breakfast was not that great though. Front office staff, service could be improved. Overall, lovely comfortable stay
Good location hotel”
We stayed two nights here. It's in a very good location in the old town sultanahamet. The square and the blue mosque is a 10 minute walk, very convenient. Trams Are walking distance as well. We liked our room, it was clean and had a spacious bathroom. Breakfast was not good though. Staff was OK. Night staff better than the morning ones.
This hotel is at a good location in Sultanahamet. It's very close to the blue mosque and the square. About 5 to 10 minute walk to the attractions in the area. Our room was fine, although we didn't have a view from our window because we booked a standard room. Breakfast was not so good. Could be improved. Price was great though. Overall, an OK stay.
Friendly hotel, ideally situated”
Ideally situated within easy strolling distance of the major attractions and a host of excellent restaurants. It is also very close to the tram line, so it is easy to get to anywhere. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were delicious with a very good choice. Being a Muslim country there was no bacon for breakfast, but just about everything else was available. We were upgraded to a larger room which was a good size. We did not see the basic rooms.
Great stay at the Celal Sultan, Istanbul”
After a very long plane trip (38 hours) it was good to be meet by the hotel staff, offered a room upgrade with a view of Hagia Sophia museum which was fantastic. The hotel has a rooftop where you can also view the Blue Mosque. Location wise, this hotel is very close to these ancient landmarks, a 5 minute walk. Pity we only had 1 night stay booked at this time.
Great Hotel, Great Location”
I will surely stay here again. Celal Sultan is within walking distance of everything you want to see in the Old City of Istanbul. The staff are friendly and generous with their advice and directions. I had a view of the Hagia Sofia from my room that was wonderful day and night. Can't recommend this hotel high enough.
Excellent Location and Great Staff”
This hotel was the perfect location in Sultanahmet. All the major sites (Blue Mosque, Aya Sofya, Basilica Cistern, Topkapi Palace, Hippodrome) were all within walking distance. The Grand Bazaar and Spice Bazaar were also nearby. The hotel is pretty basic but very clean. The staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The breakfast had a pretty good selection.
Great Boutique Hotel in the Centre of Istanbul”
I stayed in the hotel for 2 nights in August 2014. Since it was my first visit to the city, I chose to stay in the very center, and I believe, in this case, location justifies the price. The room was ok and quite comfortable, though there're not enough electric sockets - and I had my phone, a camera, an iPad and an MP3-player to re-charge. The hotel staff was attentive and polite. They even bought me a Museum Card in advance at my request, so I didn't spend time in standing lines. The only thing I didn't like was breakfast. Selection was not great and fruit were unripe.
A great trip with good food, sightseeing, sunshine”
We enjoyed it very much. The staff there was always helpful to explain and give advice on our enquiries. Also, it is a must to go to their roof-top area at night for a drink or just for chatting with friends - accompanied by the Hagia Sophie in the dark.
Great location, large rooms”
Perfect for sightseeing, dining, exploring. The hotel was recommended by a friend as a good stay. We found it as well. The dining was fine, the view from the roof was great. Could see so much. Easy walking to so many of the historical sites, plus great shopping. The staff could have been a bit more pleasant.
Neat hotel with professional staff”
We very much enjoyed our three nights stay at Celal Sultan. Room was clean comfortable with air conditioning. There was very noisy guest right next door, shouting and screaming 2am and we couldn't sleep at all on our first night. But when we told this to the staff, they quickly moved us to another room and we had very pleasant rest of 2 nights. The staff always remembered our room number and handed the room key to us without having to tell them which room we were staying, which I thought was very professional. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.
