Given a room I did not book!! ”
On arrival at Cenang Rest Inn, I was told that there was no air-conditioning rooms available (even though I booked and payed for an air-conditioning room) Instead I was offered a fan room or to stay in another hotel also owned by same individual. However, this was not by the beach which is why I selected this hotel. After much negotiation and made to feel like I should ring Agoda and sort situation for myself, I bargained to stay two nights in fan room at no extra cost. The fan room was absoulutely disgusting. No towels, no toilet roll. When I asked management about toilet roll, he laughed and said he will go to shop tomorrow. My advice to other travellers is that although the location is good by the beach. It's just not worth the scam of booking a room and then being told it's not available. A dark and dreary room that hasn't been renovated in decades spoils the experience. Take my advice: STAY ELSEWHERE!

Need A LOT of improvement”
This hostel really needs to improve on a lot of things. Ambience: Corridor is creepy and gloomy. Poor lighting. Room was musty. Basic amenities: The thing that really annoyed me is the water supply. I've never stayed in a place where I have to complain about water disruption 6 to 7 times during a three days two nights stay. During one of our complaints, we were given a key to another room for us to shower. Aircond worked well. Water heater worked well - when there's water, obviously. Flush didn't work - we did it manually! Mattress creaked for every inch of movement - luckily we were dead tired both nights to be bothered by this :) Car Park: Not systematic. Can be overfilled. Lucky for us, we didn't face any problem. Overall: The only saving grace for this place is its prime location - it is fronting the Cenang Beach and along rows of shops and stall (there's an excellent grill-stall called Fishbone and a multi-language bookshop literally in front of this place), at an affordable price. That, and the reception is quite attentive (i.e. despite all the problems, they always found us a solution - like shower in another room) That said, there are hundreds of hostel along that beach, thus if you have time I'm sure you can find a better place at a similar price.

Good location but not clean”
It was not clean and some rooms smelt really bad. You also need to ask for towels and toilet papers. The location is good, 1 min away from the beach
