Great location ”
Great location for everything. Clean , water available. Great rooftop - need new chairs though! The only down side I would say was we didn’t get our deposit back for our keys as no one was on reception when we left and couldn’t wait as needed to get to the airport.
Clean, good location and amenities, friendly (but not the most polite) staff”
If you are backpackers (or even family but spend most of your daytime outside) who need just a place to sleep and recover, this place is comfortable enough regarding pillow, blanket, light, safe box, wifi, air conditioner, kitchen amenities. If you are tall and/or heavy (not very much of "Asian" size) you may find the bed not spacy enough for a good sleep. 2 things making us annoyed: our room is on 5th floor (hosts should consider installing at least an elevator for transporting bags/suitcases up and down), and STAFF INSPECTING OUR PERSONAL BELONGINGS AFTER MIDNIGHT. Although they have the policy to check anytime 24/7 for the number of guests per booked bed, they don't need to and don't have the right to OPEN my medical books page by page, manipulate my packed&sealed fruit bags... (why i know that? yeah becoz I was waken up by the sound and scared as hell, as we were 2 females booking 2 beds in a mixed 12-bed room, whose belongings being inspected at 2-3am by the 2 male hosts.)
the bed i marvelous ”
if youre staying for short while and only for bedtime, this place is splendid. the bed is spacious. but not so much on the room...and they dont provide slipper for bathroom despite asking everyone to take off the shoe at the front door. but the stay is good overall^^
Good location about 100m from bus stop and 500m from LRT station jln besar. Comfortable bed and AC. but don't forget to bring your own towel or else you will charge S$5 for the rent and $5 for deposit. Simple breakfast, fresh milk and bread & butter but not bad for the price.
The staff barely spoke any english but the girl who checked us in was really kind. She tried to upgrade our two single beds into a queen bed in a dorm room however, she discovered that she couldn’t do so without disrupting all the other bookings. So no upgrade for us which is fine because we appreciated the gesture. The room itself was fine but in my bed, I barely got any airflow since it was right infront of the main door and behind the AC unit. The crowd here was a mix of budget travelers that kept to themselves and families (including small children). The shared bathroom looked like it had seen better days a decade ago. I didn’t go up to the rooftop but my boyfriend said it’s nothing special. The whole building felt really grimey which for the price we paid, is expected. On our last full day in SG, we got back to the room and discovered that all my boyfriend’s stuff in his bed were gone and it had been cleaned out as if expecting a new guest. He had to go down 5 flights of stairs (there is no elevator) to speak to the front desk clerk. Problem was the clerk barely spoke english so they didn’t really understand each other. In the end, my boyfriend got his stuff back and the front desk clerk said that he could stay in his bed again. Really strange experience and seemed like they don’t really know what they’re doing here.
This is a red doors property, so don't be confused. staff are not the best, the place is dirty and messy, and the breakfast was bead and milk, they don't serve cooked food. better of going to any of the rice shops. good if your looking for cheap place to stay for one or two night otherwise pay a little more for a better place.
A Good Place To Stay”
I had 2 nights stay here. Overall, this hostel is a good place to stay. Cheap and affordable. Valuable for money. The room is okay and comfortable to sleep, even though the toilet is smelly and quite dirty because of the dirts made by other users. Close to the MRT Jalan Besar. Less than 10 minutes walk to Arab Street. Facilities provided are good. I want to give extra credit to the staffs. They’re so nice and friendly. They really help me a lot during my stay. I will stay here again if I come back to Singapore ;)
Ceiling water drip”
Over all still ok but not suitable for those with big luggage cause no lift and room a bit humid. The water drip from ceiling make our stuff wet.Hope they improve their facilities.
Short and Simple”
Good for few days stay. Room for improvement. Staffs are well trained. Air con in dorm rooms are open 24/7. High floor no lift, so must carry your luggage up the stairs. Large gathering area for socializing or simply chill. No fancy for an expensive city like Singapore.
Worst accommodation ever”
This has been the worst and dirtiest place I have ever stayed. I understand they need to keep the costs low but that doesn’t justify the lack of cleaning. Not even at very poor countries I have seen such a disgusting bathroom. The whole building smells bad and its kept in a very bad state. As for the breakfast you will only get toasts and butter. The don’t even have tea. Make yourself a favor and invest a little bit more on your accommodation and stay at a decent place.
There are better places than this one”
Maybe, years ago, when the pictures have been shot for the booking sites, this hostel WAS fresh and clean. Now Central 65 is old, dirty and old fashioned. The staff is very unfriendly, no help or advice what so ever. Breakfast has to be considered as NONE, a slice of bread and butter. I'm traveling for one year with my wife and 3 children and this hostel is our worst stay ever. Very disappointing in a beautiful and clean Singapore.
Really budget. Dirty and staff unfriendly. ”
Bathroom is the worst. I only use bathroom for shower purpose. I wouldn’t stay one more second inside the bathroom. I went to public toilet for 💩. By this you can determine the cleanliness. Bedroom wise, the floor are full with hair and dust. Not recommend if you’re traveling with elderly. Won’t give a second chance for this hostel anymore
So Bad Experience! A 5-floor-building with no lift No water dispenser No Shoes provided Own shoes were to take off Floor in my room was wet Air-conditioned totally not cold That my room was wet the whole night Barely breathable due to poor ventilation Bathroom cubicles were small and smelly, upside with windows opening so that outsiders can peek inside Poor Wifi Noisy Check out time at 11am which was earlier than major accommodations
Warnings and fines”
If you check out late there is a $20 fine, if you bring food to your room you get a fine, if you open the window you get a fine, if you are late to breakfast....you guessed it, fine! There are warnings EVERYWHERE, too many types of warning for me to talk about them all here. Honestly those warnings left me feeling more like an inmate than a guest. The bed is comfy, but its the smallest bunk by far I have seen (i have been to a lot of hostels).
Always room for Improvement”
If you just need a place to crash overnight, this is your place. Staff was decent enough to attend to all my concerns. PRO: FREE bread and coffee in the morning; CON: NOISE from other guests and Roof Deck was not accessible throughout my stay. Overall, my stay has been good and will consider this for my next trips.
The most dirty hostel ever”
The toilet is extremely dirty. Maggots are popping out on the floor and side corners. Very disgusting! The door lock is not functioning. Any existing tenants can simply enter other rooms or beds as they like. My bed has been intruded by unknown strangers for two times a row in 1 day. Will not stay here again! NEVER!
Very good service ”
Thanks to the staff
Very close to Jalan besar MRT. There are restaurants and minimarkets nearby. To enter room we need access card so it is safe. The toilet is shared (men and women). No towels are provided. Bring your own slippers because we need to take off our shoes outside. Room is capsule style and aisle in the room is pretty narrow. But to me it's okay because only 1 night.
The location is near Jalan Besar station. Each bed has blockout curtain and comfortable bed. It is also near Mustafa center and a famous Chinese restaurant. However, there is no near convenience store.
Pros : valued for money compare with its location and cleanlines. Located just 3 mins walk from Jalan Besar MRT Station and less than 6 mins from Rochor station. Both are in Downtown Line. Bathroom and bedroom were clean. Rooftop was awesome. Breakfast is just simple toast and cereals with milk. But you can enjoy free tea, coffee and ice cube all day long. Yup, ice cubes :D Cons : my cons is only the stairs. For me its not a big deal to go up to 3rd floor since i just bring small backpack. But it would be a problem for those who bring big suitcase. Overall i'll be back to this hostel for my next visit
