Excellent location, right in the heart of Plaka”
We stayed at the Central Athens Hotel in Dec'14, and was initially skeptical of the place. It was a 10 min walk from the train station, and the exterior was unassuming. However, once we entered into the hotel, the place was clean and inviting. The rooms were cosy, and well maintained. The best parts of the hotel are the rooftop terrace, which has a splendid unobstructed view of the Acropolis, and the location. We were literally 3 turns away from the heart of Plaka. 2 things that were a let down though... The lift was tiny, and frequently broke down, and the breakfast was normal.
Fantasic location, fantastic hotel...”
This hotel is located in the excellent Plaka area (old town) of Athens, very near to Syntagma Square. The rooms are nice and the staff are friendly, but the best bit about this hotel is the roof bar with incredible views of the Acropolis. Watching the sun set over Athens from the rooftop Jacuzzi is also a great way to start your evening off.
Located within minutes of the Acropolis.”
This hotel is located downtown Athens within walking distance to everything. You can be at the Acropolis in a 10 minute walk and you can be in plaka in 5 minutes and there are tons of restaurants and shops in the area. From our room we could see the Acropolis and there's also a rooftop bar and restaurant that has an amazing view of the Acropolis especially at night when it's all lit up. Very beautiful and very romantic and I highly recommend this hotel.
Good location with good services”
I stayed in Central Athens hotel during winter, room is quite good, clean and warm (I love the heater working good during cool time) The staff very helpful, the have information regarding Athens and Grece, train schedule, taxi, and how to reach tourist area. Absolutely recommended hotel in Athens
Good, simple and basic hotel”
The hotel is located in the heart of Plaka, convenient to many of the Athens attractions. Breakfast is included and there is a beautiful rooftop bar/restaurant. Room facilities are rather basic tho, as expected for the price you pay
Great stay”
The location of Central Athens Hotel was indeed 'central'. It was close to the Acropolis, shopping areas and restaurants. The staff were friendly. There is an excellent view of the Acropolis from the terrace during the night. As we do not drink alcohol, the staff in the rooftop bar were happy to make coffee for us just the way we wanted it. We had a comfortable stay.
Excellent location”
We were there only one night but it was great! We had arranged airport transfer and we walked out and our taxi driver was there waiting. Check in was easy and we went out to the Hope on, Hope off bus line, few minutes from hotel and did all the major site seeing and spent evening shopping in the Plaka area where hotel is located. Sat on the roof top restaurant and watched Athens and Acropolis all lit up!! Had a comfortable night, ate a good breakfast and our prearranged taxi took us to the port and we boarded our Cruise liner!!! All painless!!
Great Hotel in great location”
Very enjoyable stay in this clean, modern and friendly hotel. It's located in a fantastic position, walking distance to Syntagma Square, Plaka, Acropolis, and lots of restaurants and shopping. The terrace bar has fantastic views of the Acropolis. I would definitely stay here again if returning to Athens. The only negative thing would be the extremely small elevator - you may end up waiting for some time if there is a queue of people ahead of you, but you can always take the stairs!!
Good choice”
Location--central: near Syntagma Square, city center, and airport drop off. Fantastic view of Acropolis. Less than 5 minutes' walk to Plaka Cleanliness and comfort --spotless and new. Though the hotel decided on whether the airconditioning or heater was to be used, you could adjust it. Had bathroom amenities Wifi--good reception in our room (511) Breakfast -- many choices, hot, cold; yummy Greek yogurt! Staff--polite and helpful Felt like a 4-star hotel compared to other 3-star hotels we stayed at in Munich and Florence
Good Location hotel with Acropolis View garden!”
This was first time to visit Athen, this hotel is based in very central of Athens and good for shopping and close to all the Heritage. You can see Acropolis from the restaurant at the garden at 7th floor at night and Acropolis is nicely light up price is very cheap and highly recommended
Great Location, modern and clean”
We stayed at Central Athens Hotel for a night before flying home to Australia. It was in a great location - we loved central Athens and could walk to the Parthenon and back before our flight in the afternoon. Very happy with our stay here, will recommend.
great hotel central to the Plaka”
You really don't need anything other than your feet to go anywhere in the Plaka if you stay at the Central Hotel. The only thing I would suggest is that you request a room on the 4th or 5th floors with a view of the Acropolis. The first 2 nights we had a room on the 2nd floor with a view of another window. When we returned, we had a 5th floor room which had stunning day and night views of the Acropolis! The staff at the hotel was phenomenal!!!
Chantel from South Africa”
Totally impressed with Central Athens Hotel. It was a pleasant stay, the location was amazing, the view of the Acropolis from our room was spectacular, the food was great. And the staff were fantastic!
Amazing Athens ”
The hotel is very clean and in an excellent location. The staff are super friendly and very helpful. They got us up early when we had to be back at the airport, ordered a taxi, and provided a bag breakfast for us to take. The restaurant and patio on the rooftop are amazing. Wonderful views - very nice. The breakfast was fabulous as well. Our room was small for American standards but for Europe was just right. We had the less expensive room so no view but we just went to the roof. Athens was amazing - view of Acropolis from the hotel rooftop.
Escape the city streets in comfortable hotel”
We arrived to Central hotel after flying on a very hot day and the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooftop bar is a lovely place to unwind and spend an evening. The breakfast area and room is very nice and the food was excellent. The cons: air conditioning was noisy in room and not sufficient for the 44C heat of that day. The bathroom in hotel rooms had little privacy, no proper door and every sound could be heard from bedroom. Overall a good trip in lovely Athens and I would stay here again
Location Location Location”
Best area to stay, central, comfortable rooms, lift is very small. Breakfast was good, Rooftop has the best views of Acropolis. Beds could be more comfortable, rooms had noice of running water in ceiling. Other than that a great place to stay in Athens.
Nice stay in center of Athens”
Loved the hotel, the location, the service and helpfulness of the staff, but found that the room is not well soundproofed at all...could hear my neighbours talking etc and school bell ringing. This is a pity as the standard of the hotel itself is really very good and much better compared to other 3-star hotels in Athens. Will however come back again!!! ;)
Very tin walls ”
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable but the walls were paper tin. I could here everything that was going on in the rooms next to me. so much so that I could not get a sleep .it was so bad that I could here the people snoring all night. I had to turn the TV on to drowned out the sounds. The people next to me on the other side where having sex all night. please don't get me wrong I understand what goes on in hotels but this was very loud. I loved the people from Athens so warm and friendly and I enjoyed walking around the City but I am afraid to say that I didn't get much of a rest in this hotel because of the noise. Thanks Gordon
Excellent location, fabtastic rooftop bar.”
The hotel itself is clean and comfortable, if lacking any real character, but the location is perfect, just a few minutes from Syntagma Square, the Plaka and the district of Monastiraki. Once you're settled in you can walk comfortably to virtually every main site in the city. The staff on reception were rather dour, but the bar staff on the terrace are very friendly and hospitable - the roof top is great place for a drink before heading out for the evening, and for a night cap on return.
Cute small hotel”
The central athens hotel is situated at Plaka area, which is a vibrant place. There are lot of bar restaurants arround of different cuisine foods. The restaurants remain open till midnight. The main walking street Emrou is nearby. Shopping is just fun there. The hotel has a cute small bar on the top floor. The service excellent. You can have your drink in the Jacuzzi too. The acropolis view from the bar side is excellent.
