"You are about to read the most glowing review I have ever written. We had left our previous city a night early because of a horrible hotel experience, so we needed a place for one night before we moved to our already booked Mandalay hotel. Even though Link 78 only had 4 reviews, we figured: "It's just one night. It has to be better than the place we just left. Let's risk it." And that risk paid off! Link 78 was so nice that after that one night, we paid the Agoda cancellation fee for our other hotel and extended our stay here for 3 more nights! The staff is friendly to a fault and all of them speak sufficient English. The breakfast buffet is a great mix of western and asian options. It's in a great location less than a block from the railway station. The room is well designed, from the blackout curtains that actually overlap in the middle to the carpeted floors. (Walking barefoot on a nice carpet isn't something one gets to do very often when living in SE Asia.) My only possible caution is that about half the outlets in the room are the Myanmar-standard multi-format (which can accepts UK, EU, and US plug types), but the other half are UK-only. You might end up charging your phone in the bathroom. Given the number of reviews and how few taxi and trishaw drivers knew the hotel in Dec '16, I'm guessing that we lucked into a new hotel that's going to get known (and correspondingly pricey) very soon. Take advantage now."

"Although the rooms may feel a little small, our room had a working aircon, TV and fridge along with hair dryer and bathrobes and all amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Love the fact that there is a kettle so you can get yourself a hot cuppa when you want. The guys in reception were super helpful, booked us boat tickets to Bagan, sorted out the transfer to the pier as well as a little packed breakfast on departure. The breakfast is substantial with really helpful staff as well. All in all, a great experience, especially as our first 3 star Mandalay hotel was a bit of a disaster! "

"I was in Mandalay for around 4 days. This place is really nice place to stay and very near to Mandalay Palace. You also can walk to Mandalay hill for morning exrcise around 45-60 mins. The staff is very friendly and helpful especially Matt (Italian staff). He will make sure your stay is comfortable. I think he is the most favorite staff that you can ask everything. The place is very clean, and nice bed and locker. In mandalay you can walk or rent motorbike taxi. In front of hostel many motorbike taxi but they offered you very high price. So I suggest you to contact Coco (09761352706). He can speak English and helpful his price for one day trip (Min Gun, Sagaing, Inwa City, Amarapura (U bein bridge and monks breakfast) and some place in city for 20,000 kyatt) for waterfall and all day in the mandalay city for 12,000 kyatt You will regret if contact him. You also can get free water, coffee, tea. They have good rooftiop. Near this place there is ABB food centre which provide food aroun 1500-2000 kyatt."

"We stayed in Mandalay to take a day trip to Amarapura and the surrounding old cities. There was a travel agency in the hotel and they were able to make bookings for you (although we didn't use them for the day trip we did book a ferry trip with them). The staff were very friendly and helpful and made an effort to say hello and chat to you, especially in the restaurant. The room was great, very clean and spacious with a fridge and kettle. The hotel was at the very top of our price range but we felt it was worth it."

"We did not have high expectations of Mandalay but in the end of 4 days, expectations well and truly surpassed and partly due to having a very good place to stay. One of the best places we stayed in even though price was less than other hotels in Myammar. Staff helped us with local transport and finding a motorbike to rent at a reasonable rate to visit Sagieng and Ubin Bridge and places outside Mandalay city. We used the free bikes provided by the hotel 2 days to get around the city. They told us prices to expect to be charged for distances travelled. Breakfast was good with a range of Asian and Western food and fruit. Better than most places we stayed in in Myanmar. Very close to Nepali restaurant called Thinns (no name outside) on 28th between 79th and 80th which had delicious briyanis till sold out and in the evenings has prathas and chapatis for a minuscule price. Lots of local people eating there and drinking tea after about 7pm till late. It would not be an ideal location if you wanted to eat at the more tourist-friendly restaurants on about 77th St unless you were willing to walk or ride bikes. On arrival, hotel provided a pickup service where the Air Asia bus arrived-which was great to avoid being hassled by the Air Asia agent on the bus who kept offering overpriced taxis run by his friends/relatives or when you get off the bus. Hotel booked a bus for us for our next destination which picked us up at the hotel and delivered us to our hotel in Bagan. Very satisfied with stay. "
