Best hotels & accommodations in Chaloklum

malibu beach bungalows looked just like in the pictures, maybe even better! the place was just gorgeous! staff was really helpful and nice, allways smiling. breakfast was really good. beach was just quiet as we hoped and sand was really white. if you want big parties, other beaches might be better for you. if you just want to lay on the beach and eat well, this is your...

We stayed here for 12 nights over Christmas and New Years, and would go back in a heart beat. It offers great (non-inflated) value. The staff were passive yet friendly. The classic family bungalow has the best location right on the sea with a nice porch with two hammocks. The location of the resort is the best of Chaloklum; this opinion was substantiated by the locals...

After check-in the wow-factor starts: a welcome with a fresh coconut. The next thing you see is an astonishing view at the Chaloklum bay. Rooms have a bubble bath and a very luxurious look, with an overwhelming amount of beautiful flowers to make sure this blows you of your feet also. The hotel offers extras, such as a DVD player in every room (free DVD's for rent). Th...

This hostel has a few shared rooms and private rooms in a large house. It's located a little bit outside of the main Chaloklum village so you need to walk about 10 minutes to reach the main street with the restaurants. But it's really worth it! It's super quiet and submerged in nature with only a few village houses around and lots of palm trees. I stayed there for a fe...

We spent 2 days of our honeymoon at Buritara resort, and we were overall quite happy with the hotel. We stayed in a seafront villa, which was really inexpensive compared to most other hotels. The first impression was not the best, since the staff did not understand english very well, and there was no restaurant at the hotel. But the manager drove us to the nearby town ...

we were 2 friends staying there. we went at the end of aug, and it was almost empty. at night everything was closed at 9pm and it's 20min walking to the town (chaloklum). they didn't do the room any day, and the aacc didn't cool enough. the waiter in the restaurant was very nice and always with a smile. they can arrange a taxi to thong sala, so when we arrive we ca...

Pros: it's a good european standard hotel. Clean, new, pleasant, not damp or smelly. I really don't understand those complaining. Location is very good in the middle of Chaloklum. The beach where it locates is not for swimming but all the nice beaches like Malibu beach, Haad Khom, Haad Salad are within 5 minutes on motorbike and a 7/11 within 2 minutes walk. So if yo...

More about Chaloklum
Cheap Thai restaurants serve delicious local seafood, and some funkier bars and restaurants have recently opened on the seafront. Most bars are simple and rustic, frequented mostly by locals and fishermen, but several of the beachfront bungalow operators provide good drinks in a relaxed atmosphere.
From the village, it's possible to reach the main port, Thong Sala, by walking, rented motorcycle or shared taxi, although Chaloklum has its own mini-market, several Thai markets, a 7-11 and a selection of ATMs.
Just to the south of the village, close to an elephant trekking camp, is a Chinese Temple situated on a hillside with views over the bay, where visitors go to make wishes.
There are also a few good waterfalls nearby including Phaeng, Wang Sai and Paradise, all with marked trails and easily reached from Chaloklum Bay.
Fishing and diving trips are easy to take from here, as is exploring the surrounding beaches by boat. At Koh Ma National Marine Park, less than three kilometers away, where visitors have the chance to swim with turtles and other marine life.
There is plenty of tree cover bordering the sandy western beach. The east beach is even better, and here you will find the majority of Chaloklum's guesthouses and beach bungalows. From backpacker beachfront bungalows to boutique hotels, accommodation options are plentiful and suit most budgets.
Some resorts can help arrange activities, such as jet skiing, windsurfing and wave boarding. A cooking school is also available just outside the village.
