Wonderful Location”

You can't beat the location of the Champasak Grand Hotel (not to be confused with the Champasak Palace Hotel). On the riverside next to the Japan-Lao Friendship Bridge, there are rooms with lovely views across the Mekhong to the hills on the other side. Staff were very friendly, with the exception of a couple of the front desk staff who seemed reluctant to deal with foreigners (most of the guests are Thai, Chinese or European). A coffee shop that is open for breakfast and lunch, a Chinese restaurant for dinner and a nice restaurant in an out-building on the riverbank that is open only in the evenings. We would definitely return.

Very comfortable stay - great room ”

Had a comfortable stay in a one bedroom suite, which is more reasonably priced than anything similar you'll find elsewhere in the region. Stayed 3 nights here, after having to stay an unexpected extra night from my originally booked 2 nights. Breakfast was quite good, could have slightly more western choices but it was still very acceptable. Also, proper Lao coffee like Latte or Mocha would have been nice, given Pakse is the gateway to the Bolaven plateau, Laos' main coffee producing region. No time to swim at the pool, instead on the one and only non-business related day I had, went down to the Cambodian border and swam in the Mekong there and also spotted the 3 Irrawaddy dolphins still said to be living on the Lao side. Nice excursion to the Cambodian bank to see the waterfalls from that side too. Nice dim sum dinner at the hotel's Chinese restaurant. Note that unlike Savannakhet, Pakse no longer seems to have any French restaurants. The one mentioned in the LP guidebook is gone.

Sunsets and more”

Locaton, decor, pool

Right on the river and you can watch the passing parade of odd vehicles as they cross the bridge over the Mekong. Luxury cars, tourists coaches and tractors, you can see them all. Lovely view of sunsets from the room. Pools are large and no one in them. Breakfast was good with may selections but coffee is not first rate. It really is quite stylish, well kept and feels luxurious, making it real value for money. You are 2 minutes walk to the huge markets complex and a minute fromthe biggest suoermarket in Pakse. Recommended.

Nice Location ”

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. We needed to get to the airport immediately after breakfast and the hotel had a complimentary offer to drop us at the airport free of charge. The reception staff had difficulty understanding English. But the manager came and spoke to us and it felt so good to speak with her. The hotel organized a Van and a driver to take us to the Golden Buddha on the Mountain. We had a great view of the Mekong River and could see the SUnset from the room. Gym facilities are good enough. The Chinese restaurant was good. We dined once on the Christmas eve the serves were big..

Best Hotel in Pakse ”

This hotel is the nicest hotel in Pakse, by a large margin. I'll preface this by saying I've stayed here several times but only in the "1 bedroom suite" room. Very comfortable bed and linens. Well maintained and clean. Serviceable internet, 2-3mbps which isn't insane but will be quite sufficient for emails and some video streaming. I've not swam in the pool but it looks clean and well maintained. The staff are very pleasant and eager to assist. Free shuttle to and from airport, which is a nice large airconditioned van. There are much cheaper options in Pakse but this is the "fancy" hotel in the region.

Relaxind days in Pakse”

Nice hotel, clean room, nice swimming pool, location at the mekong river, outdoor restaurant with view to Mecong River. Good breakfast with homemade bakery, both asian and continental breakfast. good parking facilities for the car. the only down ting was the wifi in the room, it tends to get on and off all the time, I stayed on the 10th floor, maybe the wifi is better on some other floors. I would stay there again, next time I go to Laos.

Comfortable Hotel”

We had a very pleasant two day stay here in one of the standard rooms with wood flooring. The room was well appointed, great A/C and a great view of the Mekong. The breakfast buffet was really good with many choices. The restaurant outside down by the river was excellent and there was live music. The only negative was the bathroom seat and floor were not clean. I stayed at another hotel in Pakse last year but the CG Hotel was a good choice this time, ten times better and will be where I stay next time in Pakse.

It is an impressive hotel overlooking the Mekong.”

Nice Hotel near the Mekong River

You can enjoy the incredible sunsets over the Mekong from your own room (assuming you have the west facing rooms). The staff are very good. In particular I must mention Ran who is the front desk manager. She went out of her way to help us on many occasions and made our stay enjoyable. Cons The rooms are good to average for a high class hotel. The bathrooms look dated and generally need updating. The breakfast is adequate and could be better. Hardly any fruit in the morning buffet. The restaurant staff are very good but the restaurant itself is let down by a boring menu and lack of explanation of the various Lao dishes. When we tried the restaurant the food was less than impressive. During our stay at the hotel, my wife accidentally cut her finger, and when i asked the hotel if there was a first aid kit to treat a minor cut I was told that there was none. Parts of the hotel are undergoing renovation although this is not obvious from the outside.

Very big hotel”

good breakfast, superb vieuw over mekong

This hotel is situated along the Mekong, and our room had a direct view over the river (room 603): magnificent sunset to watch right from your bed! All the comfort you need is present: 2 restaurants, a gigantic swimmingpool ( with 2 children pools), a decent breakfast (buffet with some eggs and mostly asian food, but the same the 3 mornings we had breakfast). Staff very helpfull ( but this is a general constatation for Laos, everybody is soooo nice!!!). This hotel is not a cosy, family run hotel, but a very good value. Pakse is not very large, but you will need a taxi or tuk tuk to go to the city center.

Size of rooms, service, aspect and facilities

This appeared to be the best quality hotel in the town, it suits business and holiday makers. Large rooms , great views of the Mekong.  It might be a little bit far from what is said to be the city centre, but is very close to the market and riverfront cafes. Tuk tuks are available just outside the hotel.  Service was excellent, breakfast in the cafe extensive, and a lovely restaurant overlooking the Mekong for dinner.  Every thing about our 3 night stay was excellent.

Rooms are clean and comfortable Staff are helpful - however, they do have limited English Breakfast is fine Rooms are large, clean and comfortable. The pool is very nice (very oddly shaped) - with 2 smaller pools attached, one of a warmer temperature. Room service food is fabulous - the best food I ate in Pakse (and not very expensive). I would recommend this place for sure. There's also a large supermarket around the corner so all in one, probably the best place to stay in Pakse!

Comfortable room but location too far from town”

Large comfortable room, small side windows actually opened.

This is a very large hotel that is located some distance from the main central part of Pakse. Our room (Deluxe, located onn floors 8-10) was very comfortable, spacious and easily cooled. We were so pleased to find theat the smaller windows on both sides of the large panoramic window were able to be opened to let in fresh air. Our room smelt of cigarette smoke when we arrived and opening these side windows helped clear the air. The view over the Mekong was absolutely superb. We enjoyed the choice of food available in the breakfast buffet, but were not so impressed with the range of offerings on the a la carte dinner menu. The pool was a good size, but unused due to having absolutely NO SHADE available. We left this hotel after two days solely due to it being so far from the centre and tuk tuks were not easily available. We ended up at a less comfortable, but central, hotel. There is room for improvement at Champasak Grand. First priority could be to widen the choice of food for dinner. Second would definitely be to provide more sun beds and some umbrellas or other shade by the pool.

Champasak Grand is sitting on the river with great views. It is at the entrance to town and close to the New Market which is huge. The hotel has a small fitness center, a nice spa, a nice pool, good but limited breakfast buffet a nice restaurant on a deck overlooking the river. The room is nice, the bed is comfortable, a small coffee table with two chairs, a bath. Next door is a small supermarket. The rate is quite reasonable. I would stay again and have no problem recommending it to others.

Located on the bend of the mekong, you dont get better views of the river. Rooms are basic, but clean. TV is Thai mostly, with one or two English channels. Booking said free airport transfers, but when I arrived at Pakse airport there was noone from the hotel. Had to phone them and their shuttle arrived about 15 minutes later. Limited English at front desk, and in dining room and cafe. Breakfast included in the price, and was great.
