Quiet, comfortable, and well located.”
We really enjoyed our stay at Chana Place. It is in a quiet area of Chiang Mai's Old City, so we had access to many businesses without having to deal with much noise. The room we stayed in was very beautiful and clean, as it was serviced every day. There are very nice, cheap restaurants near by, however these do close very early. We had trouble finding dinner close by in the late evening, but there definitely is nightlife around if you're willing to walk for a bit. The staff was very helpful and kind. I highly recommend staying here.
Decent option away from the busier areas”
Chana Place is located in the South West corner of the Old City pretty much away from everything. We initially chose the hotel due to its 24 hour check in as we arrived on a late flight from Bangkok but the fact that it has its own bicycle hire for 50 baht per bike per day was also a plus. The room itself is good for the price point and although the morning staff are helpful, the evening staff could be a bit friendlier. The ease of hiring a bike means that getting around is not too bad. Although, when you do not have a bike, it does mean a 15+ minute walk to most night time attractions. We ended up staying in Chana Place for three nights, but then switched places to another hotel closer to Thapae Gate. However, if one is willing to rent a moped or bicycle every day or gets a tour to pick them up from the hotel, Chana Place is definitely a good choice to get away from the busier parts of town.
clean with all ammenities ”
Chana place is great value for the price. Clean hotel rooms, friendly staff, and lots of space in the room. Only complaint is no elevator - can be a hassle if you are lugging large bags. Also, overnight desk is manned by a security guard who isn't good at providing information - if you are checking in late it may be difficult. WiFi is strong throughout the building - which was a happy contrast to the spotty networks we saw everywhere else. Location is great, in a quiet area but also walking distance to anything you need.
Worth the $ for this 2star hotel”
overall is worth for the $ that we paid. One part where i wish they can do better in future is the cleanliness of the room. Location ok. If to travel Chiang Mai again, I think I will still prefer Chana Place. If to walk, is slightly far. If by motorbike is fine :)
I stayed at Chana place 3 years ago, and I was impressed at how close it is to tourist sites, markets and cafes. Now the cafes and food eateries have increased, but better than that is the improvements to Chana Place. What was an undercover bike parking area has been tiled and converted into a breakfast area, or some where to sit, chat and drink with friends. The rooms are always clean and ar spacious. Well worth a visit or return
Dear guest, Thank you for your comment. We really appreciated your positive comment. Please come back again. Best regards. Chana Place
Great Value and Location”
This was a legit hotel with the price of a hostel. Clean room, good location in the old town, good AC, big bed, towels good fridge. We were impressed, especially since our first two nights in Chiang Mai we stayed in a place WAY further out of the way for the same price and then found this place that was just such a HUGE improvement in everyway. We stayed again after touring around the north before we flew back and they kept our luggage and the room we got for the second stay was better than the first. I would stay again for the price.
Dear guest Thank you for your comment we re so glad to that and hope to see you next time Chanaplace
What you expect from a low-budget hotel”
It's nothing to write home about, but for its low price, Chana Place is everything you need if you plan to be out and about during most of your day anyway. The bed was big, there's even a TV, the bathroom was spacious for one person but I felt it was a little grimy, and they even have coin-operated washing machines. I would categorize it as a nice motel for backpackers kind of place.
Great location and good value for money”
This small 1 star hotel give you more than you expect from a 1 star. you get Air con., TV with international channels, private bathroom, clean and fresch relatively new furniture. Its located on the Old City, however not in the middle of all Noice... Its on a quite street and not many bars disturbing you in the area. 10 moniteus walk to the "back packer area". If you find a room cheaper than Chana Place in the packer area youwont have private bathroom, nor TV or air con... And it will probably be noicy too...
Good middle/budget priced hotel”
Located in the southern section of the old city gives this hotel easy access to most places in Chiang mai. They are renovating do only top 2 floors have available rooms. Good security with keycard access after 7pm, attendant/guard 24/7 by front door. Very friendly staff but have limited English skills. Short walk to Suan Prung gate on southern wall of city where many Red buses/taxis/tuk tuks are available. Some good restaurants in the area but the higher concentration of hotels/restaurants are in the eastern area of the old city so it's a bit more quiet here. No restaurant in this hotel.
Very good for a budget hotel”
This hotel is undergoing renovations at this time, when finished it will be a good improvement, however there is a lot of unavoidable construction noise during the day, internet is probably only a temporary installation because of the building but it was basically useless, when online login lasted at best most times only 30 seconds then login was required again, server problem, definitely needs to be upgraded or change server, when rebuilding is completed. Staff are very friendly and willing to help where ever they can. Hotel has no restaurant but there are several good cheap restaurants in the area, restaurant diagonally opposite makes the best iced coffee in Chiang mai.
Perfect cozy place we spend 1 night in Chiang Mai, the room was clean and the staff welcoming. We will easily recommend to our friends.
Thank you for your feedback. Glad you enjoy staying here.
Well located, Friendly staff, Locked night access ”
This hotel is located in the old city so is not far from anywhere in Chiang mai, it is at present undergoing renovations so only the 3rd and 4th floors have available rooms. Front door is locked after 7pm with card access only and 24/7 guard present at the door, therefore good security. Rooms average size but clean and comfortable, A/C and fan, large fridge (not bar fridge) cable TV and internet reasonably fast wifi which is a bit sporadic, works most of the time but can be troublesome. Some taxi drivers don't know where it is but just tell them 'Suan Prung gate' and hotel is 2 minutes walk from there. If you want to go somewhere the owner will write directions in Thai for taxi drivers. Generally good value hotel.
Nice stay but bad wifi”
My wife and I had a good stay at Chana. Can't complain at all besides the wifi didnt work! It ended up working randomly after hours later of trying. Clean and big rooms. Nice staff.
Great value for money ”
This place is walking distance from the Chang Mai highlights just inside the old city Wal. Staff was wonderfully and the room clean and simple. English language movies on loop on several channels and a fridge stocked with complementary water every day. No frills, all function.
Price was right for room type and location, which was quiet and near to the only decent green space in the city. The breakfast venue is very limited and not too many other places nearby. Most of the restaurants we wanted to eat in were in either the north or upper west side of the old town but very accessible by scooter. The A/C in the room was noisy but we didn’t need to use it anyway. Bed was comfortable if you’re used to the Thai craze for hard mattresses!
It's worth to stay there more than the price!!! ”
This place was surprised us after 2 places which made us disappointed little bit, when we arrived there, we do really want to lie down on the bed and enjoy the sunset!!! It's on the southwest of old town where is close to Sue Taa Temple! Shops and food are around it and easy to find it!!! You can borrow kettle and hair dryer at reception and the staff were really kind!!! There is security at downstairs who helped us to open the door when we were late back!!! Will stay there again if we are going again!
Very nice place to stay in Chiang Mai. The rooms are a bit old-school but cozy. It was a little dark though. Lamps and decoration were wrapped in plastic, which seemed a little bit weird. The internet did not work for us. Bathrooms are big, clean and nice. Only funny part about it is an ever-flushing toilet that with time becomes kind of annoying.
Thank you for your review. We will develop and improve.
Great location in Old City”
We stayed here for 4 nights and loved the location, it was right in the centre of the old city just minutes walk from the walking street and the beautiful Buak Hard public park. The staff were very nice and helpful and assisted us when we needed them. Room was clean, however the bathroom had many ants around the sink area.. But the shower was amazing, powerful and hot! The air conditioning was loud through the night and was leaking water one night. Apart from that we really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely would stay again.
We are sorry for the mistake. Thank you for your review. We will be used to improve.
Probably the last time”
It was for years a decent choice in chiang mai but losing fast. Often no internet in rooms and if it's there its weak and patchy. Even it looks like they are well organized with all their batches and a lot of staff running around it seems not efficient. I had for 2 days long black hair in my room until I told room service to clean. Fridge and freezer compartment dirty with hairs in the freezer. Bath room smell of urine. Maybe make guest still not sit and it's all on the walls and shower curtain? Disgusting. No English TV channels. All in all I know better guesthouses around. This place needs a good brush and change of attitude. And please remove the shower curtain it is anyway useless other than catching urine spritzer of your guest who reject to sit while on toilet. This said - popular with Chinese.
value for money”
peacefully situated in the alley behind the busy road, it is very near to the South Gate. What we enjoyed the most is the eating street near the South Gate that offered wide selection of local foods. We had noodle soup every night as we just couldn't resist the good taste. The small stall in front of the hotel also offered very good noodle. Good start as breakfast. Most attractions are within walking distance (10-20min) in the old city. Night bazaar is a bit too far but fine to take song taew. Another good thing is the hotel is 10min away (by foot) from Saturday Walking street. Good choice to avoid the traffics. Overall stay is good.
