A great bargain just off the beach”
The hotel is about 150m behind the beach which means it is quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of Jomtien Beach. The hotel has limited dining facilities and a very small pool which is in the lobby/dining/bar area. The room was excellent, large, clean and with a huge balcony. Being down a side street the view isn't exactly great but it was peaceful and an excellent place to enjoy the free morning coffee. The staff were always seemed happy to assist and made the stay a pleasure. The hotel is very competitively priced and well worth the money. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is staying in Jomtien/Pattaya. I would also recommend the blind massage centre opposite the hotel. Jomtien Beach is very brash (but not as much as Pattaya) and if that's your thing then fine. If you’re looking for something with style then this is not your resort. About the nicest part of the beach is to the north where the road separates from the beach. The hotel is about 10 minutes leisurely walk from this area. In the opposite direction, about five minutes walk is the night (tat) market.
Small but charming hotel”
if you can deal with the small pool, the lack of a breakfast buffet, and the 100 meter walk from the jomtien beach road past deserted villas, you will find a small (20 rooms only) and charming hotel, where the staff always greets you with a smile and bring out your door key without you need to ask. the cleaning standard is very high, and house keeping never bothers you in the morning as the front desk informs them on who is still in. this was my first stay, and i will return. by the way, many of the big hotels make a fortune on wifi coupons - here wifi is free. note: hotel is located in soi 8 by jomtien beach, a couple of kilometers south of pattaya beach. 10 minutes and baths on a tuctuc will get you to 2nd road in pattaya (if that is your desire).
Fantastic welcome and quality room.”
Chang Charlie`s is located on Soi 8, Jomtien. When we arrived we were pleased with the quaint look of the hotel, the warm welcome and easy check-in. On reaching our room we were very pleased with the size of the room the cleanliness and all new and matching furnishings. The hotel is close to the beach and other facilities. We will definitely be returning to Chang Charlies.Breakfast is not supplied, but morning coffee or tea is.
Amazingly quiet and relaxed stay in Jomtien beach”
A great little hotel tucked away off the main beach drag, the staff and lady who runs the show were charming, extremely friendly and relaxed. The room was good sized, bed great and air con cool. The way the building was situated allowed for plenty of the cooling sea breezes so very pleasant mornings and evenings. Massive plus is the location, several blocks off the beach road in a quiet soi, very little traffic and only the odd distant thump of a passing car stereo, so really relaxing and calm. I had the best sleeps there... There is a lap pool I didn't try but stuck my foot in there and it was surprisingly cool, being in the shade all day, be great for a morning wake up splash. The staff were so friendly, the lady who managed the place was friendly and nothing was a issue to her. The hotel itself might be a little old school to some, no lifts or fancy buffet breakfasts, but for a funky, quiet, relaxing and excellent value, you can't go past Chang Charlie, guarantee I'll be back there at some point!
Great value hotel, very clean and new.”
a very good value hotel. there are lots of other hotels in this area that are the same price or cheaper, but most are dirtier and not as nice. you might get lucky and find somewhere else which is as nice chang charlie. the rooms have lcd tv, shower, fridge and a large balcony which is good to dry out your swimming clothes on, after a day on the beach. this hotel is perfect for a family that wish to spend the day on jomtien beach, there are some nice restaurants and a family mart close by. we spent 6 days here without getting bored, if it rains you can use the pool, which is rarely used by anyone else.
A perfect little hideaway in Jomtien”
i thoroughly enjoyed my stay. in fact, chang charlie exceeded my expectations. everything was perfect, it was clean, large room, the staff was exceptional. very friendly and helpful. and the price was extremely modest.
Beutiful small hotel”
We stay here for two weeks and i have my best stay ever in Thailand.Perfect swimmingpool for small children. The staff are helpful and friendly, location very quiet and good for relaxing.Walking distance to a lot of resturants in Jomtien ore two minute walk to the Bath bus going to pattaya that takes 10 minute. The only minus is there are no breakfast but again short walk to danish hotel that have wonderful breakfast buffet. We will come back for sure.
Nice Hotel”
What an absolute delight to stay at this hotel ! They have the friendliest staff and the deluxe room on the 1st floor was outstanding. Food was soooo good here too. Will be staying at Chang Charlies again for sure, I miss the staff already
Nice decoration but some issues”
Not far from the average beaches of Jomtien this guesthouse is on a quiet soi. The Deluxe rooms and common areas are decorated nicely. The shower had good power along with the AC. The issues are the front facing balcony Deluxe rooms are on a large but not private terrace. There is a small wall that goes only 1/2 way thus making it not private or intimate. Unfortunately when I was there some very loud people were occupying the other rooms. So keep that in mind. The other issue is when booking it seems the guesthouse has different criteria on what it a standard or deluxe room. A friend joined me and paid for a Deluxe room but got a Standard room. The staff girls were rather rude telling me that I didn't pay extra for Deluxe...despite the booking confirmation showing I did indeed. Overall good location but be prepared for some issues with room designation and other loud guests. No manager/owner was on duty the 3 nights I spent there.
great location big rooms friendly staff”
On first arrival the staff were lovely and friendly but the small pool was in reception area which was outside so first thought was that we had made a mistake. Then we were shown the room and all thoughts disappeared as the rooms are huge, clean and with a king size bed which was really comfortable. In room safe, TV, WiFi, Fridge, toiletries etc. Small shower room/toilet but of course this not a problem and if it was bigger then the room would be smaller. There was no coffee/tea facilities but when we asked at reception the lovely staff said we could have a kettle and within the hour a kettle and cups/saucers appeared so we only had to pop down the road for tea/coffee and milk. Also along with other things we borrowed an Iron and Ironing board as well so really helpful. Another first was even though we were not right on the beach it was only a hundred yards away but we were given beach towels as well so all in all a great place to stay. The only downside is the small pool, only 2 people could swim and then it was full because it was not very wide but not too bad length.
Very happy with this place”
my girlfriend and he daughter stayed here for a few days and although not 4 star, it was; for the price very good. When my Thai girlfriend needed food, they provided a nearby restaurant, we did not have to leave the room, we were able to eat in our room, which was important because we had a 2 year old with us. If you want an economical place to stay in Jomtien, I recommend it.
Excellent staff - friendly & helpful”
Good value. No food except instant coffee & donuts but good breakfast at hotel restaurant on corner of beach road. good wifi but tv screen small & too far from bed for easy viewing. Night market a few blocks away with good variety of street food. Regular cheap pick-up buses to Pattaya & back for high end shopping & dining and the infamous night life.
Very nice hotel ”
Very nice hotel, great location on Jomtien beach. Would definitely recommend.
Good location, large rooms, friendly staff”
Really nice place, lovely staff and the rooms were huge with lovely large bed. Although there was no tea coffee facilities we asked about a kettle and were given one within the hour with cups so only had to get our own coffee and tea. We also got given an iron and ironing board when needed and beach towels were provided so really lovely stay. The only downside was the pool was really small and if you wanted a swim there only enough room for 2 people but while we were there noone used it so not a problem.
Quiet, great location.”
Located on a quiet street just a few hundred feet from the beach. Plenty of restaurants and other businesses in the area. The rooms were large, clean and well furnished. The staff was very helpful. The main street on the beach had plenty of transportation available for trips to other areas.
Quiet location”
chose this hotel for it's location, away from the busy bar streets. i wanted to have a relaxing week and got that. not much to complain about except for the mosquitoes. there was a big gap at the bottom of the door and i guess that's the way they got in. my first night i woke up from being bitten but used repellent thereafter and no problem. the gap could be easily fixed. i don't know if it's the same at the other rooms. staff was very friendly and helpful and also gave me some tips about markets and so on. it was a pleasant stay although everything is a bit more expensive in jomtien compared to pattay, including hotel rates, but a overall nicer place to stay at. the only thing that was missing was a swimming pool, the one they have couldn't be called a swimming pool. good rate for renting motorbike and bicycle.
Nice beach hotel, but not as shown on map”
i found this hotel through trip advisor and booked through agoda. i was shown the hotel to be in pattaya beach on the map on trip advisor, but the hotel is actually in jontien beach - this is a good 5-6 miles away and a taxi ride of around 30 minutes on the pattaya taxis. so advice, next time dont trust where they show the hotel to be, and check the soi address to confirm exact location. the hotel was simple - nothing fancy about it. room was small, bathroom very small with shower on top of flush area. there were small ants in the bathroom and room, which i think shouldn't be there. the hotel is walking distance to the beach (2 minutes), so from that aspect good if you want to go to the beach daily. its next to a big empty field and the street is a bit deserted - specially at night. its in the part of jontien beach where it starts to get very quite and not that many buildings. the price in my view was high! baht is too much for a room like this. you can easily get similar quality in jontien and pattaya for around baht. my suggestion would be to only book 1 night online, and then hunt for a place on foot once you are down there - see the place and price and then select. finally, the pool is not really a pool. its 1 meter x 3 meters. the local shopping mall water fountain has more water :)
A Gem i”
it is my second stay at this hotel. Over the year it has improved with a food service and a small bar in the lobby. The rooms are clean and roomy. I prefer the rooms on floor 2 which have a large outdoor terrace. This stay I got a room on floor 3 which had a balcony which was considerably smaller. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in Jomtemn
Service was fine until things stopped working”
we stayed at chang charlie's for 6 days. the first 4 were fine, although the air conditioner was not able to keep up until i reversed the ceiling fan that was pushing the cool air into the 3 meter elevated ceiling instead of towards the floor where we just happened to be. on our last night we came back from the beach, hot, sweaty, sandy and ready to shower only to find that the water was not working. the night staff didn't have anyone there to fix it and after 30 minutes they allowed us to walk down the hall to shower in another room. about an hour later the water came back on and we thought all was well only to discover that it would quit when you needed it most. we had thought about staying another night due to a flight change, but after talking to the morning receptionist, we had to leave as she was very rude. she asked if we would like a free night and when i said yes, she laughed and said "no way!". okay fine, you give us a room with a barely adequate air conditioner and a room without water for one night and this person (mai, i believe) acts as though we were a burden to her. i must admit that she did offer us a larger room at 50 baht more per night, but both my thai gf (who works for a travel agency in chiang mai and knows the meaning of customer service) thought this absurdly unsatisfactory. it's unfortunate but because of this morning desk person's attitude, neither of us recommend this hotel.
Clean quiet”
Quiet street no far from Beach Rd. Friendly staff.
