Peace of mind”

Professional and helping Staff, Comfortable Room, Ease of Access to major attraction in Shanghai
There should be muslim showers in the toilet.

In the heart of Shanghai, the Charms Hotel is located at an easily accessible hotel strip. Taxi's, Subway and Busses are easily available. The hotel is only 2 mins. walk away from East Nanjing Road famously known as Pedestrian Street and around 10 mins. walk away from Peoples Square. All types of Cuisines are located around the hotel. The Hotel also has a business center and an In house foreign Currency exchange counter dealing in major currencies of the world. Surrounded by all types of Fast Food and sophisticated Restaurants and around 20 mins. walk from The Bund, it is an ideal location to stay for business and for leisure both. There is an in house recreational area in the basement with few games and past times to keep you busy in the evening.

Shanghai Charms Hotel Revoew”

1. Great location, 2-minute walk to Nanjing East & 5 minute walk to People Square and subway station 2. Value for money, I got business room with breakfast for my holiday. Room is quite new without any cigarette smell (on 16th floor)
1. Rooms is not sound-proof, so still can hear the noise from the street (however, this is not much trouble under the fact that most of our times are outside the hotel anyway 2. Staff could not speak English that well 3. Hotel does not accept the luggage deposit during this Expo time so it causes us to pay one more half day for maintaining our room for our luggage

I enjoyed staying at Charms Hotel. The location of the hotel was great, closed to Nanjing Road, People Square and subway station - same location with other 5-start hotel. It was worth value for money, comparing the price, location while room facility was still new without any bad smells (non-smoking business room). I would consider to stay here again if I had a chance to come back to Shanghai.

Great location, overall good stay”

A few steps from Nanjing East pedestrian road and the sightseeing bus stop, safe location, good facillities

the hotel is literally a few steps from the nanjing pedestrian street which i think is the best feature of this hotel. that said, it is so far from pudong airport as everything is if you want to stay where all the action is. by taxi, it will cost you and we travelled late evening. we arrived past midnight and it took awhile to check in because they really checked in each and every guest in our group so this is a warning to big groups - get ready to wait. our rooms had a view of the interior of the hotel but that didn't bother us. the room is cozy for two with a bed with a firm mattress. extras in the room included foot pads, toiletry kits and even underwear. all come with a price tag of course. our rooms (we booked 3), all had a microwave, water heater and small fridge. the tv had cable but we only found 2 english channels - channel 40 something - cctv news and channel 73 - bloomberg. charms doesn't seem to be a cnn partner hotel. we didn't bring a laptop but it was only an itouch that was able to get wi-fi signal. our ipads couldn't get the signal unfortunately. now we come to the bathrooms. it was well lit with good exhaust. it had hot and cold water but you have to wait for the hot water to flow. one comment i have is that there isn't a rack to put your toiletries in the shower area. we were able to use the gym facilities. there were four treadmills and weight machines though some were not working in a space that took up about 3 hotel rooms. having only 1 breakfast per room, we had to find breakfast elsewhere and this was not hard to do since there are 2 24 hour convenience stores located behind the hotel and a small shop selling hot buns for breakfast right outside the back entrance of the hotel. oh, and there's a starbucks right across the front entrance of the hotel.:) according to my family members who ate breakfast, it was standard - bacon and eggs and not much to choose from but it was ok.

It was a very good experience, reception was fast”

I think the location is a bonus for those who come to Shanghai. I like the business rooms, they are new and very convenient
Breakfast is every day the same. May be some variety and more fruits. I think more types of cereals and yogurt may help

I was so glad in booking at CHARMS hotel. I have use the hotel in other occasions and I can see improvement. I think still can do better if they offer more information for Shanghai with maps and Metro Shanghai details. Water is so important so the side of bottle may be bigger and the the possibility of free Shuttle to the MegLev to the airport will be a plus. In general a very good hotel.

hotel wasn't the same building as the one shown in the advertisement on the net- a bit disconcerting when trying to find it

We found the hotel to be very well located- near Nanjing road, the Bund and the Metro at Peoples Square. The room was a good size and was very clean. The bathroom had lovely hot water and the western style toilet was appreciated. The conscierge was particularly pleasant and helpful. We thought it was good value for money and have already recommended it to friends.

Location. Cleanliness.

Charms Hotel was very nice. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was sufficient but had a glass wall that was a little akward. Service was very good. It was our first time in Shanghai and the location was very convenient. Short cab rides to get to major areas and within walking distance to many sights. Under the hotel is an internet cafe which is convenient however, the internet cafe is a standalone business and the people were not very friendly. All in all a nice stay.

Small room (good for a solo traveler, though).

this is a good hotel that accommodates the need of a single traveler. the currency exchange service is great. bellboys stays 24-7 and are helpful. the rate is also attractive and they did not charge too much on my friend's short-notice walk-in. wifi is free but cable internet is not. the bund area is packed with tourists due to shanghai expo. it is horrible inside the expo park. you may find some local restaurants nearby, but may need to spend some money at the bund area to have a decent (expensive) western style meal.

Very strategic location, Very quick response for room serivce, Very clean room
Washroom with wet floor all times after taking bath, maybe problem with its drainage system, so we placed towels on the washroom floor to avoid slippery when wet.

Charms hotel is located at a very strategic location, which we need only 5 minutes walk to reach People Square, Shanghai Subway Station. We took Shanghai Subway most of the times to reach our destination. Besides, it only required half a minute walk to the convenience store nearby. The hotels staffs are very friendly and helpful.

Old hotel but good location”

Hotel is located nearby People's Square Metro station. You may also walk to Nanjing East Road for some shopping. I even walk to The Bund (about 20 minutes walk). There are many convenient stores nearby, and also some restaurant and street food selling local cuisine. The hotel is rather old. Unlike the photo shows in Agoda, definitely edited and make it looks so bright, clean and new. In fact. the room light is quite dim for me. I turn on every lights in the room, but still quite dim, yellowish kind of lights. The facilities in the hotel, Gym room is just a small one with simple equipment. I wanted to try their massage, but when I see their place is like a haunted area. No maintenance at all and I feel it is quite dirty. So I choose to go some other massage parlour nearby. During night time, right outside the lobby area, There are some ladies offering massage, sex services and even door to door service. I believe they are scammer, please be aware.

Friendly and Courteous Hotel Staff, Clean Rooms

The hotel is located at the heart of Shanghai, just a few steps away from the key tourist attractions like the Nanjing East Road, People's Square and The Bund. The hotel has a classic Chinese touch. The rooms are clean, with all the necessary amenities; but standard rooms and business rooms do not have outside view. The only view from the room is the hallow chamber, which is like an isolation chamber. However, I rate this hotel satisfying enough.

Great location, small room, see-through bathroom”

Location

I chose this hotel because of the location. It is located only 1 block away from Nan Jing Road where we can do most shoppings and find many things to eat. 5-10 mins walk to Metro station to travel to other places. There are many other cheaper hotels around Shanghai but their location is not as good as this one. Most of them are located in a place with nothing around. I booked a Business Queen Room (no breakfast) and it is quite a small room, almost half of a standard hotel room. The only difference between Standard and Business rooms probably only that Business room has a table with free wired internet connection (which is quite fast). Room size-wise, maybe no difference. Solo or couple travelers could still live with the room size, however the only drawback of the room is that there is a big glass that separates bedroom and bathroom. With a little head turn to the left or right, added up with the small room size, people can see the bathroom very clearly from the bedroom. That is very uncomfortable, even for most couple travelers. I don't know whether there are other type of rooms without said glass. Overall, if you could live with the see-through bathroom, this hotel is the best choice around Nan Jing Road. I'd definitely choose this place if I ever visit Shanghai again in the future.
