Warm and kind arrangement ”
Due to quite a number of baggages, we requested to move to lower floor if possible. It’s not confirmed immediately but reception said would help to arrange, finally we could get the room on the ground floor. We were so happy!! And we reached the hotel in the early morning, it’s really kind of hotel staff asked us to go to the lounge room for a nap. Coffee, tea, water, etc are available, we had a good time there to take some more rest before going out for shopping :) Chelsea Inn is a cool hotel to stay in NYC!

Very goof”
I travelled to NY with my boyfriend and we stayed for 8 days. First of all: we were very satisfied and glad we booked this hotel! The staff was always friendly and helpful. The room was small - as we expected for this price - but clean. We wish we had a windown but to come to a conclusion we would absolutely stay there again.

The rooms are really cute! Yes very small but you’re in New York... why stay inside? Well situated, I’d go back anytime

There isn't an elevator so you have to be willing to go up and down the stairs. I was on the fifth floor and didn't mind but it is something to keep in mind.. The inn was recently renovated and it shows. The room I stayed in was big enough for one person, had a comfortable bed and the bathroom was clean and pleasent.
Clean and Comfortable room”
Pros: Very clean and comfortable room. The bathroom was very functionaly laid out with a big shower & plenty of light as well as a huge mirrored medicine cabinet with lotts of storage space. The bed was VERY comfortable and clean with 2 different pillow choices. AC/heat in room worked very well ad it even had a ceiling fan! Very nice & helpful staff. Cons: no elevator & very narrow staircase. Bring earplugs. The window in the room, though closed completely, had NO soundproofing. The street the hotel is on has trash pick up, street coeaning, etc quite regularly & you can hear everything. The only other thing is that google maps shows the location on 16th, instead of 17th- so make sure your uber driver takes thr right street
Lost and found”
I was pleasantly surprised by the room because from all the reviews I didn't know what to expect, but the room was as shown in the photos, which I think is a good sign since that is basically what you are paying for. I only needed to stay there one night for personal reasons, since I live in the city, but what I can say is that the area is good and quiet for any of those who are travelling. The main concern was that I checked out around 9:30am and at around 1pm I realized that I had left my headphones in the hotel room. I had used them in the room the night I was staying there so I know that they would be there. The manager said he'd look for them and had no luck. He was nice about it, but then it must have been the cleaning staff that must have taken my headphones. I think they should educate their people about lost and found because what if something more valuable had been left behind? Managers should be more aware of their staff and have a lost & found system in place.

The room is quite small but reasonable price for NYC hotel. The staff (esp. Pedro the bell boy) are nice and friendly. Even it doesn't have elevator but the staff were very helpful to carry all the luggages for us. The location is close to many shops and nice restaurant. should go to the Udon place on 16th street is so nice.
Going for boutique hotel vibe, but...”
Room had recently been completely remodeled and upgraded to a boutique hotel vibe. Nice wood floors, new walls, modern window and upscale blinds, large flat screen, good bed and bedding. Bathroom (shared) had new tile and fixtures. They were doing finish work on hallways (walls and paint) when I was there, but were not going to be able to completely camouflage the age and history of the place with its narrow halls and ancient staircases. No elevator, street noise was loud through the night (I was in street facing room), and shared bathroom was inconvenience.

Best quality you can get in New York City on a budget!!”
Very friendly staff, they made sure we were having a good stay. I had a shared room, which just meant that I shared a bathroom with another guest, which was across our private/shared hallway. Our room was not too big or too small, just perfect. They don’t have any elevators, just stairs, which was no problem for me. The stairs gives it a homey atmosphere. The location is perfect, in the city but not in the tourist area (more like around it). I will be definitely booking a room here when I come back.

Exceptional”
Dynamite location! Wonderfully friendly staff and clean rooms. We had our own bathroom which was spotless, the towels were super soft, and the tub had jets. They provided complimentary water, coffee, snacks, etc. in a central hospitality room. Only issue was the hospitality room was next to ours so it could get a tad noisy. That's the only downside. I would certainly stay there again, just on a different floor.

We were out exploring most of the time but what little time we actually spent in the hotel I enjoyed even though the room was pretty small. I'd definitely stay there again.

Decent hotel for value in NYC”
The lack of elevator if you are on the fifth floor is challenging, though staff were very helpful with luggage. Some of the rooms have no window, which was a surprise. Flag your own taxis as hotel calls a car company which was considerably more expensive.

Great location”
Great location , relatively clean ( still under renovation). No elevator . I'd stay again - there are no amenities i.e. Coffee maker , couldn't find alarm clock & the safe didn't work . Staff changed my 5th floor to 3rd floor during check in & carried my suitcase - much appreciated . A restaurant right next store for am coffee.

continuing delay in refunding security USD150 and concealment of important facts while booking ”
The hotel conceals that there is no elevator even to reach level 5 and one has to go through narrow staircase, and also that there is a hefty security deposit of 150 USD. My deposit of USD 150 has not yet come back to me despite chasing, after payment through my debit card for they stay on 16-Sep-2018 night

Once you check out and there are no damages found the release of this pending transaction is processed. The pending falls off the account as if it never happened. As long as there is no longer a pending amount held on your account your security deposit of $150 was released in to your account. If after the period of 5-7 business days has passed and your funds have not been fully released please contact your bank in order to have them release the hold from your account.

They didn't mention there was no parking, the was really small and a little dirty. There were junkies sitting on the front stoop into the hotel. The manager only communicated poorly through text and didn't realize the paperwork he sent was already completed even I though I told him it was. He didn't provide any details the only way to check in is through text.

Desk clerk was rude; tried to change my credit card a $150 security authorization for a single night stay before I threatened to cancel. Was not even going to mention the amount before I specifically asked.
Please be advised that the sign in sheet that you signed stipulated that we require a deposit to protect our property. We apologize that you were unhappy with having to leave a deposit. We are however happy that the clerk was able to come to a compromise with you so you could enjoy your stay with us.
