Worth the money”
The contact-less checkin was a new experience for us, but we found the support to be very responsive. They were most responsive to texts, so give that a try. The rooms and shared bathrooms were very clean. Definitely worth the money for the location.

Best of the boutiques! ”
I love the Chelsea inn! From the solid, pre-war, Georgian architecture to the modern heating and cooling system with a thermostat in each room, this is my current favorite NYC hotel. I can't say enough good things about the charming and super-helpful staff here. Kudos 👍! A note: If you like a lot of attention from hotel staff, this may not be the best for you. However, if you value privacy, peace and quiet in a fantastic downtown location for a good price, this one can't be beat!

Recommended with a few caveats”
The location is peerless, my tiny room was spotless & the custodial staff was lovely (even if they did remove--& I am assuming accidentally--about $150 of my cosmetics, hair care products, and toothbrush from the shared suite bathroom when my neighbors across the hall checked out.) Just a few surprises if you book a 5th floor room: • You will shlep your luggage up 5 flights of stairs. • There is no closet, no hangers, and no hooks. • There was no heat. I called the phone number given and never received a response. After 2 nights in the 40s (no extra blankets) I asked the nice cleaning staff if they could help me alert someone who could turn in on, which they did. These might be adventures wrongly considered if you're not 70, but I am. World of Wonder Bookstore directly next door definitely helped.

Great for the money”
Clean, modern, ideal location, great price. Couldn’t ask for better.

Tight, clean room and bathroom”
Tight little room and cozy shower - good TV and somewhat shaky WiFi - but great deal for the money if all you're looking for is a rest pit for the night - quiet and clean.

Great Experience ! ”
I was amazed by this place, the room had the essentials I needed for the trip, usually for this price you don’t find a room that offers you a fridge and a microwave. I though the shared bathroom was a public space for the building but it was a shared bathroom for two rooms, which almost felt private. The building has been recently renovated and they keep it clean and neat. I had a great time and will come back whenever I’m in NYC.

Five star, but…….”
First of all it is in a great central location which is safe. The value was amazing. Here are the things that could easily be improved on…. We were in room 104 that has its own bathroom. My issue was with the layout of the room. I’m mostly writing this in the hopes that management reads this. If they were to change just a few things they could get way more money. …so they have the full length mirror hung in the hallway which is only big enough for one person to be in. It is also the only place to do makeup if someone was in the bathroom. The small bottle neck hallway is between the bedroom and the bathroom so everyone must pass that area. There is a nice desk area that has NO mirror. All they have to do is move the full length mirror and put it on top of the desk. Also they should swap the tv to the opposite wall and the futon (which is on the same side as the bottle neck hallway). The pillows were really really bad. They need to change pillows. Also, the mattress was horrible. My husband and I were smashed next to each other because it was so saggy. We had our 12 year old with us who slept on the futon. Totally doable in the space if it were laid out properly. Another Extra would be a makeup mirror. There was some kind of courtyard out our back window but the noise didn’t bother us as we are in the city. And around 3-5 don’t know the exact time someone was constantly using an ice machine. Didn’t bother us though. Oh and there is NO staff which was fine except that we had nowhere to put our bags. We would have gladly paid $15 bucks a bag to not have to figure out where to store them. Seems like that money wouid be worth having at least one employee on hand. The keyless entry to the building and the room was awesome. Torn if I wouid stay here again.

Chelsea Inn”
Both the bed room and the bathroom were very clean. Very secure locking systems. Ac runs well and keeps you nice and cool. Great location, a 20min walk to great restaurants and nightlife.

Exceptional”
The rooms are really cute! Yes very small but you’re in New York... why stay inside? Well situated, I’d go back anytime

Excellent”
The room is quite small but reasonable price for NYC hotel. The staff (esp. Pedro the bell boy) are nice and friendly. Even it doesn't have elevator but the staff were very helpful to carry all the luggages for us. The location is close to many shops and nice restaurant. should go to the Udon place on 16th street is so nice.

Value for money”
I needed a place to sleep that was affordable for two weeks. The Chelsea Inn was just that. The location was perfect for me. It was very clean and has been renovated. There is a diner near by for breakfast. The hotel provides a microwave, a coffee machine and a refrigerator. I felt without a chair or table one would hardly eat in the room. The Wi-Fi is bad. There were days when it was none existing in the time I was at the hotel. For me it is essential to have a working Wi-Fi. In all I can recommend the Chelsea Inn because the price is right for what you get.

Excellent for the Price”
Great place to stay if you book the right type of room and aren’t looking for luxury. I’ve now stayed here twice this summer, both with relatively last-minute bookings so I got it pretty cheap. Very happy with what I got for what I paid. Very clean for the most part, 1 of 3 towels was stained the last time but everything else was great. Hotel is “contactless” and not staffed so make sure you fill out their forms somewhat in advance to get access codes. I had zero problems with this. It seems a lot of negative reviews about this place are about the rooms with shared bathrooms - they also have many rooms with private bathrooms! Just make sure you book one of those and you’ll be good. Definitely not luxurious, but good enough if you just want the basics.

Great affordable option”
If you’re staying in NYC and need a private, clean place to sleep but don’t plan to be in the hotel much, this is a great option. Not a huge, luxurious room by any means but it was clean, private, and centrally located. Would stay here again

Do not stay in room one hundred.”
The walls are paper thin, the bunk bed is scary! Every time the main hotel door opens, you get a loud report of the keypad entry, the door opening noisily then closing with a bone jarring report; all this 8 feet from your pillow. I listened through the other wall beside my bed, to boisterous conversations in the bar next door. And meanwhile, the window above my pillow played the soundtrack of NYC Street life, raw and unfiltered, 10 feet from my pillow. A real and full New York experience!

Basic hotel in great location”
Chelsea Inn was in a convenient location and a good price. The rooms are small but cute. A few downsides: - The street can be very noisy. A dump truck spent 30 min noisily loading big dumpsters at 4am - The internet was extremely slow and sometimes completely non functional. I ended up having to use my phone as a hotspot for my entire stay.

Underwhelmed”
My husband and I stayed for one night midweek. The self check in instructions for our room were wrong. Both the room number and the pin code were incorrect so we stood in the hallway trying to figure out where to go and could tell the walls were particularly thin. First time staying in a room without a window so waking up not being to see outside was not ideal. All around, good value for the location if staying for more than one night. The cleaning fees made the stay underwhelming, especially with mold in the shared shower.

Budget Friendly”
Great room sizes and budget friendly for solo travelling- however there are no elevators and so you should be prepared to climb lots of stairs if you're placed on a higher floor. In addition, guests were really noisy at night (not really the hotels fault I guess...). On my last night I had rainwater start to drip into my room, which was un-ideal. Because of the covid protocols it was hard to get ahold of staff, however they were really friendly and helpful when I did bump into them.

Cheap place to stay”
It's all about price here, low cost for a no thrills experience. The wifi is basically unusable and the facilities are very basic its understandable for the relatively low cost for the area.

It’s nothing special”
It is the definition of a two star hotel. It’s not the worst accommodations you will stay in, but certainly not the best either. The sheets and towels were clean but other than that it looked like the room hadn’t been cleaned in quite some time. Specifically the floors, they were pretty disgusting. The self check in with no staff is an interesting concept, and it does work as long as you don’t have any issues during the stay. Would not recommend, but would stay in again if the budget demanded it.
