The perfect hotel, I would give it 10/10. Our room was excellent comfortable bed, large bathroom (tub and shower)with a private balcony overlooking the lake. As travelers it was located close to everything the boat wharf and the bus station. Outside are numerous places to eat and close to walking trails. The staff was extremely polite and helpful. The topping on this hotel is their morning breakfast, located on the top floor with an excellent buffet lots of seating however if you are lucky you can sit outside on one of their two balconies enjoying the fantastic view.

Comfortable and silent night”
Staff is kind and friendly. The location is very good which is just 2 minutes walking distance from the wharf and food store. However the operating hour of shops and stalls in this area is until around 7pm local time. Room facilities are well-equipped. Limited choice of breakfast (traditional Taiwanese dishes, bread/crossaint and beverage) but is good for me. I like the dumpling (抄手).

The hotel is very near to the Isao Pier, less than 100m. Very convenient location to access to the sites. Room is very spacious. I like the restaurant for breakfast, over looking at the lake in the morning, beautiful scenery. Breakfast was ok, with toast and porridge. To access to the hotel, take the boat and alight at Isao Pier then walk 100m, just in front of the pier

It’s a perfect combination to stay here. Owner and staff are superb. They help us a lot, taking to the best restautant in front of the hotel, made a car reservation. Even took us to the pier to show how to get to the boat. Breakfast was simple but nice. Rooms and the hotel was clean. Amenities were above avarage. Surounding the hotel are restaurants, food stall and 7-11 just 1 minute walk. It’s a primary choice if we visit Sun Moon Lake again.

It's near to the ferry pier, right in the middle of the snacks/ night market, very convenient to travel to the other side of the lake and to get food. The staff is very friendly, the boss is very involved in serving the guests and make us feel welcome. With a small child (1 year old) it's not easy to travel but they have made it easy for us, providing a playard bed and bath tube for using. I'd have brought coverings for the sides of the playard though as my baby was sucking the side a lot and it's not the newest set of bed. The jacuzzi tub was one of our highlights, with great view to the lake and the provided essential bath oil as well. The balcony was also great, enough space for both of us to hang out when baby is asleep. So relaxing for us parents! The breakfast was good and enough, although as we stayed 3 nights, we found the food to be a bit too repetitive. But also because we stayed for a few days, they helped us get discounted tickets/ offers for things to do, we were so happy.

Pro - location can’t be better, in the middle of the commercial area of Itasho & right by the lake & pier. Amazing view at breakfast, good spread of breakfast. Room is very clean & comfortable. I personally really appreciate the clean shower. Con - nothing worth mentioning here.

Not worth the money ”
The hotel may look nice in photos but is is not in reality. The room charges are very high for this facility, there is a stinking smell always on the lift and the rooms are not clean either. The bed is bad that we got back pain. The plus is it’s near to the pier

A Terrible experience. The first impression of the place was very old style deco with mainly wood and ratten. The room was big and bed was comfy too. Initially I was pleased with the hotel but I was bitten by some bugs middle of the night and can’t sleep due to itching. Ended up both of my legs were full of red blisters bitten by the bugs. I will never stay in this hotel again

Lovely small Hotel with large room”
We had a great stay at Cherng Yuan Hotel. It is located at Ito Thao pier. Once we stepped out from the pier, the hotel is easily spotted. The location is great. It is near to the pier as well as the bus station that you can take the "Around the lake" bus which take you to attraction spots around the lake. I need to point out that is is running til 5.30pm only. Anyway, the shops around the lake would close early at 7-8pm and it will be pretty dark at night so you shouldn't move around. At least, the FamilyMart (the 24/7 convenient store) is open all the time and near the hotel. The room is very large, clean and comfortable. We can look over the lake from the loft on 7th floor where the hotel serve breakfast. It is really relaxing on 7th floor. We also have a small glimpse of the lake from our room on 5th floor. The staffs are all very friendly and have good manner. We would love to stay at Cherng Yuan again.

Awesome Location, Awesome Hospitality! :) ”
The location of the hotel is VERY convenient. It is just less than 3 minutes walk from the Ita Thao Pier! :) The staffs are very attentive. My friend and I took a car from Cingjing to Cherng Yuan Hotel, before the car came to a full stop, the staffs were already coming out to assist with our luggages! :) While checking in, they assisted to bring our luggages up to our room and did a mini tour around the room. The hotel was however facing another hotel - hence there was a full view of other's room! (no big issue, just draw the curtain will do!) The breakfast view was REALLY AWESOME! :) You could see the sun moon lake. Overall, a great stay!

you really feel home when you stay in cherng yuan. the owner and the staff are very helpful and very friendly. the hotel is located right next to the lake and the pier. you can really enjoy great view especially when you have @ 7/f restaurant. definitely recommend to traveller who want to visit sun moon lake. the only thing which is not good is that it is located to the other side of sun moon lake. so when you arrive by public bus, you need to take one more ride to the other side to go to this hotel.

Cherng Yuan Hotel or what we call民宿 impress me with strong Chinese antique environment. It is very close to the Ita Shao pier where we would take the boat taxi across the Sun Moon Lake. The cable is just nearby to the Formosan Cultural Centre. Aboriginal welcome us, warm and hospitalitied, great! Nearby, a Tea House invites us to test and try t various Chinese Tea, Alishan Tea and Premium Tea, soooth and warm, just like them.....

We had a wonderful stay at Cherng Yuan Hotel. The lady owner is very helpful to provide us all sort of information to make us get into the place. The kids have a lot of fun and enjoy the jacuzzi in the room. While the adults enjoy the coffee corner in the room. The lake view is nice and cosy. We will sure come back to Cherng Yuan Hotel if we visit Nantou.
