Nice room but the buffet was disappointed ”
the room is wide and enough to stay in family but I visited as a couple. The public bath is not that good from what I saw in the picture, also both in-door bath. The staff speak of broken English so there's not much we can communicate but during the night, I needed to eat my fruit and I called the staff and we cannot communicate of what I want( eventhough I use English-Japanese Dictionary to help) But overall it was one of a good places around there. But if you ask me if next visit I'm gonna be here again? I might not, unless the price is really persuative. By the way, dinner and breakfast are really suck there (hope is not too rude because it's bad bad badest I ever seen in all my travel.)
Good to have a free shuttle service between Sapporo station to hotel. The buffet for breakfast and dinner are pretty nice with many choices of food selection. Friendly Staff who speaks chinese. Enjoyable SPA facilities. But no in-room WIFI.
Great experience for red leaves and hot spring”
First, they organize a bingo event every night, which is very funny and all people are involved. Second, the hot springs are quite good, very clean and convenient. Third, they have shuttle from Sapporo JR station to the hotel, and the way back. This is extremely convenient for non-drivers and helps save a lot of transportation expense. Forth, the japanese rooms are with high quality. They will help arrange the tatami for the guests.
Comfortable and pleasant stay”
We enjoyed the buffet dinner. Was a bit crowded the first night, but the service staff did a good job managing the crowd. Food selection was good. Sighted some deer during breakfast just outside the dining area. We also enjoyed the onsen very much. Staff at front desk (though could not speak good english) were very friendly. We booked 2 modern twin rooms. Those are of good size for 2 pax. Could open 2 big luggage at the same time. The room is a little dated, but comfortable. But the hotel has smoking and non-smoking rooms all located on the same floor (for every floor). Thus, expect to get the 2nd hand smoke along the common walkway of the rooms, on the way to dining hall. The hotel is near Kuraodake ropeway but not exactly that near that one could walk in the cold, and up/down the windy road. The ropeway is just less than a minute drive. Overall, a pleasant stay for our family.
Good stay in Sounkyo”
The hotel provides big rooms, much bigger that most of JP hotels. The breakfast and dinner is also good. The onsen here is comfort, once change enjoy all the pools in the night and in the next morning. The view of national park is great!
-the hotel is big that is why crowded with other tour’s people -crowded during dinner time but the dinner variety was many. -the toilet bowl and bathtub we was stayed found not so clean
nicer hotel in this location”
This is one of the nice hotel in this location. It is right next to the ropeway. Big huge room by any standard, style is rather dated though. Hotel room is clean.
Great onsen and food”
Hotel provided a great onsen experience (especially the indoor onsen on level 2) with a spread of delicacies to boot during dinner and breakfast. Highly recommended.
Spacious room and comfy tatami. Staffs are very helpful. Food was only ok.
a spacial hotel”
A hotel with varaiety of Onsen pools with panoramic vue. the dinners are the best we experianced in our tour to Japan
Poor front desk services”
When we checked in, we found some passports had left in the last hotel (but still had passports for each room to check in). Since our children were very tired, we told the front desk to let us check in and we were willing to let the front desk to hold the passports until our friends came back with rest of the passport (takes two hours drive). However, the staffs rejected us to check in rudely and ignoring us. Our children were extremely tired, so I asked to see their manager which they didn't report it to their manager) just find another colleague to solve this problem. Eventually, they solve the problem by phoning our last hotel and MADE THEM OPEN MY BAG to check whether my bag contain the passport without my permission. Beside this is an old hotel with lots of big group from travel agents, the food was bad as well. I can't believe it cost us 43000 Yen (weekday rate) for this kind of bad services and bad food. One last thing, we made the reservation on non-smoking room, but they gave us a smoking room without noticed us. I am definitely not going back.
OK for a night or two”
At check-in you will be given the choice to have dinner here or in the sister hotel Choyo resort. Choose to go to the resort. The food here was the worst I have ever had in Japan. At the resort at least it is eatable. I was very annoyed by the smell of cigarette smoke coming from the other rooms (my room was no smoking). Would it be so complicated to have an entire floor only for non-smokers? The hotel has seven floors and we are in the 21st century.
Onsen & Food”
Nice onsen with 3 difference rooms. Variety of food for both breakfast & dinner. If you stay here for 2 nights, you could have a dinner at the sister hotel which has a big crab for dinner (no big crab at this hotel).
Well renovated hotel, service has room to improve”
Bad service: we arrived at around 5 pm, it was kinda dark and heavy rain. We asked if we can park the car at the parking lot at hotel entrance but was refused. Bell boy doesn't speak English and could not explain why we cannot park there. Instead he asked us to park at an outdoor parking which is 100 m away from hotel and it was late night and in heavy rain. How should we suppose to bring the luggages from the outdoor parking to the hotel under such bad weather. We complained and finally someone was sent to get our car parked ... At the entrance of the hotel!!!! We booked the room at Rera area which is supposed to be the higher grade of hotel rooms. The room was very well renovated and spacious yet the ventilation was
Nice onsen view , good spread of food buffet ”
the room was abit small , especially the bathroom . However , the view was great from my room over the mountains . Variety of food for dinner and breakfast was good . Onsen was really relaxing with great views from the top floor .
Decent place, but nothing to shout about”
Central location, close to the town center, easy access to the Mt Kurodake Ropeway. Food was decent only in our opinion. While we read raving reviews abt the buffet dinner here, we had much better ones at Shiretoko and Lake Toya. We had Jap style rooms and the rooms were clean and cosy.
Nice hotel with good dinner buffet”
The hotel is located in the countryside and it is not near the JR station. Although the place is inconvenient, the hotel provide a free shuttle bus transfer from Sapporo to the hotel. So you can save the traveling expenses to go there. Also the food in the buffet is good.
Great location with ”
The car park attendant was ready to greet us as we arrived in our car. He quickly checked his list of guest to note our arrival and proceeded to tell the counter who we are so that our check in was smooth. The onsen hot spring was also very nice. Dinner and breakfast was also yummy. The room was very pleasant. We chose the Japanese style room and truly enjoyed it. Definitely recommended!!
Located in a Quiet and Reflective Gorge ”
Great breakfast and dinner japanese buffet meals 3 onsens to choose from rooms are nice and can sleep up to 5 there is a small village about 100 metres down the road for ramen lunches nice park informaton centre in the village and a few short treks near hotel the 90 min climb up Mt Kurodate from the end of the ropeway is quite tough because it is steep and can have ice on the steps even in July!
