One of the best hotels in Colombo for the overseas
Centrally located in Colombo, this hotel provides good value for money. Staff are polite and helpful. Good in house restaurants - we enjoyed the dinner buffet at Taprobane and the a la carte menu at Noodles.

Old Hotel
The hotel is quite dated and it needs a reno. That said everything works well and it is a reputable hotel with good service. Internet is good for biz use. There is nothing nearby though.

Good location
This hotel is big with 14 restaurants. We tried the LAGON seafood restaurant but the service was bad. We had to wait close to 40 minutes or our lunch, the waiters need to be hail to fill up your water every time, the managers are not helpful - a big let down. Breakfast was EXCELLENT - wide spread of food, the waiters are attentive. THE LONDON GRILL was good but they had a dress code. The GYM was excellent, you have PT around to help you and had many training equipment available.

Exceptional
Always great to come back to CG again. Stayed in the newer wing. Rooms were big and spacious, enjoyed the welcome fruit platter, chocolates & Tea, hotel boasts exceptional restaurants catering to all tastes, exceptional night life and entertainment and huge shopping mall next door. Can't wait to go back there on our next visit to Sri Lanka!

I am a frequent business traveller to Colombo(see my bookings history with this hotel) and always stayed at this hotel everytime I visit. For the last 2 visits, I was extremely disappointed with the services I have received, despite my frequent visits. First time, I have requested for a smoking room with 1 large bed. I was told that there is none left and they allocated a room with 2 single beds. I am a single traveller and they can easily tell this from my booking as I have booked for a room with single occupancy. Common sense would tell that why would a singe traveller need 2 beds??!! They have offered to change my room next day, but I'm only staying there for 2 nights, I didnt wanted the hassle and accepted the room. 2nd time, from my previous experience, I have specifically requested on my booking that I wanted a smoking room with 1 large bed. Upon check-in, I informed the staff about my requests, and they went ahead to process my check-in. They handed me the keys and I happily went to my room. To my horror, I saw 2 single beds again. I was very angry as the staf did not even mention anything on my check-in. Called the reception the first minute and again was told the same thing. Room not available, offer to change the next day. They knew I will not take the hassle as I am again staying for 2 nights. I again accepted the room. I arrived late in the midnight, and after shower, the hair dryer is so aged that the handle is so sticky as the plastic seems to have eroded over time. Electric kettle smelled so strong cinnamon that I have to call for a change the next day. There is not many business hotels options in Colombo last couple of years and I have tolerated these. Once the new hotels are up, I will definitely leave Cinnamon Grand for good.
