GREAT PLACE AND PEOPLE”
Our overall stay was very great. Rooms are spacious and clean... It looks like its my home in Puerto. You will definitely feel at home. The owner is friendly and cool. She even drove us to the airport. Staffs are friendly. One thing that I definitely miss is the bed. It is really huge and comfy. You will definitely be relaxed after a day of tours. Thank you so much ! Hope we can go back again :)
Wonderful Stay in a Cozy and Lovely BnB!”
One of the best BnB to stay in Puerto Princesa where the owner is very accommodating and very friendly to all their guests. The place is very good and secured with CCTV and Security. They also provide scooters for you to roam around the city. We really appreciate the time staying here and the stories shared to us and making us feel at home. Thanks to Maam Citadel and the family! Cheers! :)
Poor wifi signal in big rooms”
We stayed here for 4 days and we enjoyed their pool which is cleaned everyday. Quiet hotel Location but a bit far from the city proper (not as I imagined when I read the description of distance from Puerto Princesa city). Great massage service (but needs to be arranged a day prior). Bigger rooms for larger group bookings will stay at the back of hotel (very poor WIFI signal inside room) you need to go out near the pool to browse the net. Laundry service is a bit pricey at 50pesos per Kilo and they will charge rounding up numbers (half kilo is considered 1kg). Check you booking if breakfast is included (one thing that I was not able to double check) -no booking is breakfast inclusive. Breakfast is 180 per head (not so generous serving) although nicely cooked Filipino meal with 3 in 1 coffee (not real brew). Convinient rental of snorkling shoes and some gears offered (cheaper than other Snorkling gear rental shops). They have 2 maids/staff who are very accomodating and willing to relay messages/requests to their boss. Airconditioning also might need servicing due to slow cooling. Very expensive pricing of coffee and snacks offered inside the room (35pesos for 1 3in1 Kopiko coffee ). Also has poor mobile phone reception inside rooms which maybe the reason why the hotel reception phone number could not be reached most of the time. Smoking area is squeezed in adjacent to the pool area which will negatively affect non-smokers who are enjoying their time in the pool due to smoke circulating in the pool area. Nice heated pool though.
Good room in terrible location”
+ great sized room, clean, nice furnishings, kitchenette, kettle, fridge etc shower good, aircon good. Pool. Wifi ok. - Nothing nearby must get trycicle to nearby mall for food. Ignored during checkin until i prompted staff hello! Can i check in??!! Bed big but mattress old and uncomfortable. Huge deposit taken double the daily price of room, for each day. Cheap attitude of owners who attempt to grab tourist dollars at every chance, wayyy above local pricing standards..
This is about the sixth time we have stayed here. The setting is fantastic and a really nice pool. Friendly staff and management. Taking into account its location (out of the city proper) I believe its is the best hotel in Puerto. If you could transport the whole complex into the city area double the price at least.
Great hotel, nice rooms, well managed”
A highly recommended "getaway" mini-resort. Very pleasant and efficient layout, clearly this hotel is managed by owners passionate about providing their guests with a nice and relaxing stay. Sporting only a limited number of rooms, it has a very nice atmosphere and is very well managed. The pool is great and they will (generously) let you swim until 11 pm. One of the hotel walls is being used a giant screen, where music videos etc are being projected in the eveings while you swim. A simple but genius added value to you night swims. Try it, you WILL like it!
clean, saving budget , nice staff. !”
little far form downtown. but resonable saving budget and very clean large room. new build. very kind staff and owner. i love swimming pool its very affordable. ~! quiet place. its very good relax.
Great customer service”
The best owner-guest interaction i've had so far! Ms. Citadel made sure that guests enjoy their stay. She's even the one picking up the guests at the airport. They also allowed us to have 2 servings of bfast on the 2nd morning since we were not able to take the 1st one because of our early tour. They allowed us to take a shower even after our check out time since our fIight was still in the evening. Upon going home, she called her receptionist to make sure we're ok before leaving the hotel. Exceptional i can say! A good hotel doesn't need the most expensive facilities; good working facilities, clean place and accommodating owner and staff will make your vacation unforgettable.
Brand new hotel with excellent service”
the hotel is practically brand new and everything from the a/c to the water pressure and temperature was the best i have come across anywhere. but the service is what truly set this place apart. i had booked citadel mainly because it had a pool and all i really wanted to do was spend some time relaxing before my flight back to manilla. however, i was treated so well that i will make a point of coming back to puerto princessa purely because of the great service i received here. everybody from the owners and joanne (who appeared to be there 24 hours a day) to the pool attendants and front desk staff etc. seemed to be genuinely concerned with the guests' satisfaction. i will definitely stay here again and recommend the place to anybody interested in hanging out in puerto princessa or using the town as a base for further exploration1
love it a great deal for the price
We stayed 9 nights and loved it.”
This is a family-run and very well organised B&B hotel. 1km distance to Robinsons Mall and ATM's. With free WIFI, AIRCON, comfortable bed, hot-water kettle, small fridge, table and chairs, swimming pool (cleaned daily), nightly projected music videos, gym, smoking areas, free breakfast, big meals from restaurant, we were VERY impressed. I'm trying hard to find a criticism - maybe the Pork Steak meal was a bit salty? We were dropped off to the airport by Citadel herself. Would recommend to every friend and family member. Brilliant value for money. A great week we had there.
Value for money on a tight budget”
PRO: Room was big for less than 1,000PHP/night. Bed was so soft that my friend and I had a really great sleep! Pool at night was amazing with all the lights. There's a carenderia right beside the hotel for cheap and delicious food. CON: Expensive hotel food. Wish the TV would actually work. I suggest to provide a TV with USB slots that could actually read them. CONCLUSIONS: I recommend this place for business travelers, solo travelers, and even couples! Place is within the city so accessible to public tranpo. I suggest hiring a van instead of taking tricycle. It would cost you minimun of 500PHP for a place that's 15mins away. But overall, GREAT PLACE!
Such a great place to stay ”
Awesome... 2nd time i check in to this hotel i feel like a family...the owner citadel shes very friendly.. And all staff as well.........definitely if i thinking palawan i thinking citadel to stay..........keep up the good work...... See you again soon........
Staff are accomodating; room is clean and spacious; pool area is well-maintained plus it has a cool ambiance at night; and location is not too far from the airport, and near Robinsons. All in all, we had a great stay.
Comfort, Quality, and Low Cost”
Our last stop in Palawan was the bustling city (by Palawan standards) of Puerto Princesa. We decided to book a tour for the famous Underground River (now one of the new 7 natural wonders of the world) and stayed two nights in the city before departing for Visayas. After a long bout of web research I found Citadel B&B at a great price on agoda.com. We couldn’t have been happier with our stay there. After a long ride from Port Barton to the hotel we were quickly ushered into our room even though we arrived two hours before check-in time. The room itself was very clean and had something we had not experienced since our time in Manila - air conditioning!! Thick-blooded midwesterners need the AC in high humidity environments where temperatures readily climb into the 80’s F (high 20’s low 30’s C). The staff and owner made sure every need was seen to. Your comfort is of the most importance to them. There is also a lovely pool that sits adjacent to the restaurant and bar of the hotel. The hotel is also less than 3km to the Robinson Mall of Palawan. The mall, though a mall with all things a mall represents, is a good place to cool off, grab a real cup of brewed coffee, and enjoy a consistent wi-fi signal. Avoid dining at the mall since all options consist of fast food that doesn’t hold a candle to any decent Filipino street food vendor. We chose to take a tricycle to the mall, though we felt as if we were overcharged due to our “tourist identity.” Our first full day at Citadel we arranged a tour (previously online) for the Underground River. The staff made sure we knew what time to expect our pick up and even expedited our breakfast order to accommodate the pickup time. After our tour we once again went to the mall though opted for the short walk instead to save almost 100 pisos. Along the way you can stop at street vendors for snacks, beverages, and meals if so inclined. The location of the Citadel and the mall to the bank and a local internet cafe where y
Best stay for the money.”
My wife and I enjoyed this B&B very much. Forthe money I believe you would be hard pressed to find a better value considering the accommodations made available. We simply have no negatives to say about our stay there. We will be going back.
Great Value Place to Stay”
This is my second review as the first one disappeared in space! So I will try to recreate the same review in case the original appears! Citadel B&B is a very clean and comfortable place to stay, it is not the Ritz nor is the price point. The value for money spent is well worth it. It is set away from City proper enough that one doesn't listen to traffic all night long but the Robison mall/Town is a short walk/trike ride away. On the flip side it does have dogs and chickens etc nearby as it is "country"(Philippines folks). The rooms are spacious and clean, Air con/small fridge/hot shower. Beds are comfortable - stayed in a few different rooms as Citadel herself found space for us as our plans changed daily (thank you!).The pool was clean and a great place to relax and talk with Citadel and the other guests. The food was freshly prepared, good tasting, and reasonably priced. We rented a motorcycle from in town and the staff gave us all kinds of places to explore on our own, they also booked tours for us to be picked up at the B&B. Citadel stored our excess bags as we traveled around the Island and made sure we had a room to come back to. Johanna and Faye are two awesome girls, they work tirelessly to keep us and all the guests happy with all they do! Ray kept the pool clean and the daily maintenance performed. Overall very satisfied with Citadel B&B!
Great place just to get away and relax. Excellent”
We had a great time and would truly recommend all our family , friends and fellow travellers that this is the place to be if you want to relax or going on the tours which are easily organised by our host. The underground river was a site to see and truly amazing. Unfortunately our flight to Puerto Princesa was delayed a day so we were only there for 3 nights but we still had a great time. The Citadel b&b is only 15 minutes sexy walk to Robinsons Mall or 5 minutes by bike. A little far from the town centre however we felt the mall covered all our needs nicely. Even went to the movies for 150 pesos each about $3.50 Australian AWESOME ☺. AAA+ Rating and should be a 3 to 3.5 star hotel rating due to its welcoming friendly team! Loved it
Best value ever”
We couldn't believe how great the Citadel was when we arrived. You will get more than what you paid. The food wasn't the best in the restaurant.(Unfortunately it was pretty bad but that's the only drawback) Breakfast was simple but good. All the staff including the owner are very friendly. 20mins walking to Robinson (or 40pesos with the tricycle, if the road is muddy I reccommend to get a tricycle as it is quite slippery), Spacious room, King size bed, balcony, Swimming pool, free WiFi and breakfast. Free airport shuttle. Very clean and quiet. I'd rather stay here than in the middle of the town. The town center is polluted and quite noisy but this citadel area is very quiet and the tricycle will take you everywhere under 75 pesos. They have a music video showing at night time at swimming pool area. It was quite nice. Overall, staying at Citadel was great and best value I've ever spent!
Private but fairly remote”
The room could have been "good enough" if not for the toilet that had poor flushing. The pool was clean and it was a nice place to stay but it wouldn't take up too much of your time. It's also fairly remote; rare local transportation from the B&B.
