Friendly receptionists and value for money rooms ”

The receptionists made us feel at home

after coming back from chiang rai, we checked in city home guest house again.this time around, there was no room for us though we had reserved two rooms. we were tired after travelling here and there with our bags. to make up for their mistake, they gave us d most expensive rooms they had n helped to carry all our bags.when one of my friends complained, she was actually being naughty but d receptionists really showed that they prioritise their facebook guests. thumbs up for city home!

Best Value for nice clean no frills Guesthouse Chiang Rai city center”

I stayed here two different periods of time during November, December 2016 and January 2017. I love finding places to stay that reflect the people and culture of where I'm staying so I'm not patron of 4-5 star establishments. I like to get out and meet the locals and build relationships and feel a sense of the neighborhood and the people who live and work there. This place, for me, is perfect. Super friendly and helpful staff and, the manager, Meaw, is the most amazing and efficient and friendly lady I've ever met in my travels. Excellent location with pretty much anything you need within walking distance... If you want sightseeing they can help you book a day trip or get you to the places in town you want to go. Restaurants, pharmacy, 7-11, massage, Chiang Rai Night Bazaar / Market, Saturday Night Walking Street... and more! All my requests were handled quickly and always with a smile and kindness. I highly recommend this Guesthouse to you for your stay in Chiang Rai city center :-)

Great Location, good size rooms!”

in the middle of Chiang Rai, bus stop not far (walking distance)

a friend and i were shocked at first at how big our room actually was for the price. we only stayed here two nights but all staff were very helpful and informed us of the local town and events. we had already booked our tour before arriving at the guest house but they have wide extensive range of tours available. chiang rai is a fairly small town so it doesn't take that long to get around and the guest house is perfectly situated just of a main road in the heart of the city. great value for money, great place for a short stay.

Close To The Bus Station & Night Market”

Location, Price, Location

I chose the City Home Guest House primarily as a stop over and for its location close to the Bus Station. It was very close to the bus station and the night market which is one of if not the main night time tourist attractions in Chiang Rai. The room was basic but serviceable, and i had very little interaction with the staff, which was fine as i did not require their assistance. The room was noisy at night because of the night market, but i did not mind that, and the noise would of finished by 11pm i'd say. All in all it did the job that was required of it.

Great location, great staff, comfortable bed!”

this hostel was right in the heart of chiang rai, the rooms were reasonably priced and there were dorm beds for anyone on tighter budget. the beds were definitely the most comfortable that i've slept in in thailand. right near the night bazaar, bus station, shopping, great bars, etc. the staff was super helpful, let us store our things, check in super early (6am) and even let us come back an use the showers a day after we checked out.

Centrally located, helpful owner/staff”

Great value rooms, near night market and bus terminal 1

arrived in cr at past 10pm from a delayed flight from bkk. most of suburbs of chiangrai have fallen in deep slumber but since city home is centrally located, along the main phahonyothin road, there's still activity at the nearby night bazaar. it's a great place to base yourself when traveling around cr because of its proximity to the bus terminal, just at the back of the hotel after the night bazaar. there are 24 hour convenience stores everywhere (7-11, tesco-lotus, family mart), and atms in every half block. the lady at the counter was surprised about my agoda booking. since a double room wasn't available, i was readily upgraded to the family room at the 3rd floor; a huge room with ac and bath (though didn't use the ac as it was chilly). great room actually, with cable and tables; clean and dry shower room. it has big, screened windows. problem was, i couldn't shut the curtains so i felt like i was in an aquarium for anyone to see from the outside. fortunately, i was the only soul staying at the 3rd floor (which has 3 or 4 more rooms). no restaurant in the gh. the lady owner helped me get a 20b songthaew ride to the white temple (wat rong khun, because it's situated in the village of rong khun). i tried getting a ride but i was charged 300b to 600b for return trips, which i think was too much. she hailed the songthaew for me. there's free internet - for 10 minutes - at the lobby. after 10 minutes, the computer stalls. great value and friendly, accommodating service for backpackers.

Stayed at City Home many times. Do not be put off by down market exterior. Some of the rooms are very big, good desk space, the property is right beside the Night Bazaar with many eating options. Staff are friendly and efficient. Very good value for money. On previuos visits the internet was very good, this time not so good, changed rooms which helped a bit.

A nice hotel of good location”

Good location, good wi-fi, reasonable room rate

City Home locates near the bus station 1 (old one). It is good if you travelled to Chiang Rai by bus. Night Bazaar/Market is just behind the hotel that provides a convenient spot for entertainment, dinner and shopping. The bazaar is just behind the hotel and fortunately our room did not face it otherwise it might be quite noisy. The room is all right and the only complaint was that the water heater gave us only lukewarm water. Chiang Rai is not too cold even in winter time. So it was unsatisfactory but yet not a big problem.

Lovely guesthouse with an excellent location.”

It's located only a few meters from the night bazaar, surrounded by shops, restaurants, ATMs, massage parlours. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was quite spacious and clean.

Me and my friend really enjoyed our stay in City Home as it was very near the night bazaar and relatively close to the places of interest. The staff were friendly and helpful. My mattress was so hard that I asked a staff to change it and she even offered me to switch to another room, but I only needed a better mattress so she swapped it. The location's superb you can walk to the Clock Tower and Wat Phra Kaeow. In front of the guesthouse there's a restaurant which sells noodle and rice with chicken, duck, or pork. We had our breakfast there every morning, it's just so delicious. Would recommend the guesthouse to friends.

Great location for the money.”

location,

Stayed at City Home for 4 nights, the most important factors in choosing City Home was location and to a lesser extent price. Only a 5 minute walk to Night Bazaar and Clock Tower and less than 10 minutes walk to Saturday Night Walking Street. The room is basic (Superior Room) with air condition and hot shower. Also satellite TV is provided (only Asian channels - no English channels). Room was a bit noisy as is next to the Night Bazaar, but after midnight it is quiet.

Great Location, good rooms”

Location - right in the centre of town, and next to scooter rental and tours

Hotel is right in the centre of the town, and just round the corner from the scooter rental and tour guide places. It seems to be on the tourist stretch which i thought was the nicest bit, it has nice resturants and cafes - most of chiang rai as a town is not that great (its not like chiang mai), i stayed there to get myself on a scooter and get out into the countryside and surrounding sites - for which this hotel is a great base. The hotel is also right next to the night bazaar, which is nice to go and visit after a day sightseeing, although it you can hear the music from the bazaar up till midnight. The hotel and rooms are basic, but you can easily get food and anything else you need metres away. Perfect base. the staff are also really nice and helpful.

Location

Having read about the place, we decided to book one night at City Home in Chiang Rai. The plan was to stay longer if we liked it there, but we did not. Location is good, and the staff can help you organise trekking, if you're up for it, but other than that... Bugs all over the bathroom, dirty linens, and lots of noise from the street and the nearby nightmarket contributed to us not wanting to stay there for longer. The hotel is ok if you're on a budget and you don't expect much, but honestly - there are so many nicer places to stay in Chiang Rai.

Broken windows in rooms give access to balcony door locks. Sink almost fell off pedestal. Easy access to balcony doors from sitting areas that can lead to increased theft.
