Staying at the City Lodge Sukhumvit 9 Hotel made my stay in Bangkok very easy as the main trouble with Bangkok is getting around the city. Having the sky train right at your door step meant for as little as 4 aust dollars a day you could assess the main areas of the city in fact I found it easer to get round Bangkok then Brisbane. You all so have all the food and night life right at your door step and safe assess to banks and ATMs. When back in back Bangkok will be staying at City Lodge Sukhumvit 9 Hotel clean safe place to stay.
Gracious, Helpful & Clean”
Our stay (3-persons / 3-rooms) at the City Lodge (Soi 9) was excellent, & we will be there again 10-13 May. I have stayed on Sukhumvit Soi sip et (11) for 30+ years, so this was a major change. The hotel was excellent in all respects, though the 'traffic-noises' can be a little loud on the 'Sukhumvit-side' of the hotel. Also, it's very-easy to 'miss/walk-by' the hotel-entrance, as the front is 'dark' & relatively non-descript. Also, the 'entrance-steps' are a bit short & steep. So... when walking along Sukhumvit... it may help to be "looking-up"... to notice the blue-&-white City Lodge sign.
Readers of this hotel's reviews must think I virtually live at the city lodge in soi 9. It has to be said I have now lost count of the amount of times I have stayed here, but obviously that must be for positive reasons. This hotel for me still easily represents the best value of all the hotels in the Sukhumvit area of Bangkok. The staff are great, travel links,ie sky train are excellent and the rooms are clean and roomy, but above all the price is great value for money. Yet again we have had a very satisfactory stay at this hotel.
Fantastic location with comfortable rooms.”
City Lodge Sukhumvit 9 Hotel is a small hotel with a location that is second to none in Bangkok. The BTS (above ground rail system) station is just outside the front door. The MRT (underground rail system) is a very short walk away. If you prefer a taxi, they know that you have other options and will give you a much better price because of it. There are many restaurants, coffee shops and fast food places around the area including Starbucks, McDonalds, Burger King and Subway. Mediterranean / Arabic food is a speciality of the area with many great restaurants to choose from. The whole area has many shops and the sidewalks are lined with small stalls that sell a very wide variety of souvenirs, clothes, toys, etc. Siam Plaza with all of its features is 3 stops away on the BTS. If you are interested in going out at night, the area is one of the best in Bangkok. Many night clubs, GoGo clubs, etc within a short walk and the sidewalk bars are open until daylight. The Sukhumvit area is the biggest adult party area in Bangkok. Be very aware that many of the beautiful girls standing on the street corners are not girls at all.
Nice Hotel in a Great Location in Central Bangkok”
City Lodge 9 is a very good hotel. Clean rooms though simple with a nice decent bathroom. Hotel staff here are very friendly and professional. They spoke a good amount of English too so they can point you out to places to eat and have fun. The plus points for this hotel is the price. It's very affordable and the rooms are clean. So City Lodge 9 is a very good value and highly recommended.
easy airport access + nana fun”
i was in town for less than 24 hours, so decided to try city lodge. i wanted to be right in the middle of things, with easy access to the skytrain, and reliable email. this was great for all three (internet included with the room). i'm usually not looking for a budget hotel, but i really only needed a room as a place to drop my bags, take showers, and so on. the staff was very friendly and pleasant, and i was pleasantly surprised by accommodations. the room was clean, and everything worked - except i think for the safe i would have needed to get a lock from the front desk or something like that. the best part is that i was able to take the airtrain from the airport to phaya thai station, where it is very easy to transfer to skytrain. from there, a few stops to nana station and i'm on the hotel's doorstep. unless you are traveling with a lot of luggage, this way is much more reliable way to get to the airport on time - avoiding the bkk traffic! i now feel comfortable with city hotel and look forward to a return stay - only for longer this next time.
Had booked for 3 rooms in City Lodge Soi 9 but upon checked in, was told that we had been upgraded to Amari at Soi 5. At Amari, we were further told that we were upgraded to Deluxe room from the initial booking. Very pleasantly surprised, great hotel location opposite 24 hour supermarket that serves fantastic meals along Sukhumvit Road. Staff were great, friendly and ever to assist.
Very Honest staff”
I have stayed at City Lodge Soi 9 on several occassions, mostly for its location and value. Each time the staff have been very friendly and courteous. On this most recent stay, I checked and feeling just a bit to relaxed, forgot to take may passport, credit cards and substantial amount of cash behind in the unlocked room safe (I returned safe key to reception on checking out) I realised approx. one hour after checking out that I had left valuables in unlocked rood safe and following a phone call, the receptionist had the staff check the safe unlocked safe and to my relief all the valuables were still there. I returned two hours later and picked up my valuables. Thank you again to the honest staff at City Lodge :-)
value! value! value!”
yet again another pleasnt stay in City Lodge, this is probably my eighth or ninth stay in this hotel and for me for the price is ideal. Staff are attentive with good English, only to be expected from Amari employees.Right on Sukhumvit and sky train is quite literally on your doorstep, so very easy to get around Bangkok.Top value but be warned there are no extra luxuries but rooms are clean and of a good size.
Stayed for one weekend while in Bangkok, always staying in City Lodge thanks to it's great location next to BTS Nana. Very convenient access to all over Sukhumvit. Had a superior room on the quiet side of the hotel and no noise during night time (which can be quite loud on the street-side). Elevator was also fixed since my last stay and had no problems like before. Also was given free Wireless internet which was a superb surprise!
I stay at a lot of hotels in Bangkok for short business and travel trips and i really was impressed with City Lodge. Great location, room size, facilities etc for a very good price. I look forward to staying with them again.
This might be my 5th time here.”
Ok. 5th time here. Again the usual things I love. 1. Location. Right next to BTS. Its not noisy but keep your windows closed or you might be peeking right into the station. 2. Clean room. Comfortable bed. 3. Staff are friendly. This trip I was here for business but I brought my elderly mother for the first 3 nights. She was well taken cared for and the staff were polite to her. 4. Not much facilities but good wifi in room. I'm gonna add on a little. As I mentioned I was here for work. So during the weekend I was with my mother but once my boss arrived on Sunday I checked out and moved to Amdassador (company was paying). I must say that was the lousiest decision I could have made. I should have just told my boss to book this hotel instead. Thank you City Lodge you're clearly the best in my mind.
what a good surprise!”
The City Lodge is the perfect solution if you want to be at center of the action but still in a quite and clean place (and cheap!). The rooms are not big but in very good condition and the most importanr, really clean, specially the bathroom. What surprised me the most was the fact that even if the hotel face the BTS skytrain and the road under it in the rooms there was almost no noise at all. The staff was very polite and helpful. I checked in at 7am and with my surprise they gave me room and i didn't had to wait the usual 11 or 12am like other places. A very good stay for me and a sure repeat.
very good location”
City lodge is a very nice and clean hotel. I stayed at the 6th floor, but no problem they have elevator. The hotel is right next to BTS station, very convenient, but still the room was absolutely quiet. No problem to sleep.Reception staff was very friendly and helpful. I think it's very good value for money. The best thing must be the location, it's a walking distance to many good bars, restaurants, and shopping. If you need to go further BTS is right there. I can recommend this hotel
Clean Business Hotel”
I've stayed at the City Lodge Soi 9 four times starting in 2004. Each time I've been met with an attentive staff and a room that's clean and a bed that's comfortable. It is close to reasonable eating establishments and is right on the SkyTrain system. You get off the train at the Nana station and you are literally staring into the 3rd floor windows of the hotel. Walk down the stairs and you're virtually at the front door.
Amari's best kept secret”
I have stayed in the rooms facing back but this time my room faced the skytrain. There are wall to wall curtains which I drew back and closed again in shock. People were at eye level,10 metres away standing waiting for trains. Certainly a room facing back is better, however the corner facing forwards is still a nice room. There are no facilities but the bathroom is adequately equiped with basic Amari freebees. No coffee making facility or DVD, for these go to Soi 19 City Lodge.
A handy little spot in the chaos”
City Lodge is a regular option on which I rely in Bangkok. It's usually offered at a great price on Agoda, and the location can't be beat. Right in the middle of Sukhumvit and just outside the BTS entrance. Also, it's only a short walk to the MRT. The staff is always nice and helpful when they can be, and the rooms are large (though a tad dark). It's worth the extra few dollars for the superior, or your window will be facing (and letting in the sound of) the BTS tracks. So happy to see they have free WiFi now.
I book for City Lodge Sukhumvit 9, but due to Air Cond problem, they have upgrade us to City Lodge Sukhumvit 19 which is next to the Terminal 21 Shopping Mall.It is 5 minits walk to Asoke BTS station.Opposite Robison Store & Westin Hotel . My review is all for City Lodge Sukhumvit 19 Hotel.
yet again a great stay at my favourite hotel in bkk. great value and has to be the best location in the city. staff as always were great and so friendly to myself and my girlfriend. they went out of there way to help me in my extended stay due to the delays caused by the volcano in iceland. as i have said many times in reviewing this hotel for price there is little to fault city lodge on soi 9, no doubt i will be back again soon.
OK So the views not great but”
OK so the views not great but it's a pretty nice hotel and ideally situated. I usually stay at City Lodge Soi 19 but it's being renovated so City Lodge 9 was the obvious alternative. So the only negatives I have are that the BTS station is right outside the window and the pop up street bars that often open till 5am are right outside the window and a little noisy if you are on a low floor
