Reykjavik hotels & places to stay

We stayed for 4 nights in July 2011. The hotel was so new that the airport transportation delivered us to a different hotel - it was just round the corner. We arrived on a Sunday morning, and they had an early checkout so they prepared our room and let us in after 45 minutes - about 10 am. We were given a room on the 5th floor, and it had access to a shared balcony. We asked for - and received - a key so that we could lock the door to the balcony. The lift/elevator is not completed to consumer standards, but it works and is safe. It only goes to the 5th floor, so people on the 6th floor have to walk up one floor. Twice, while we were there, it did not respond to our calls, so we had to take the stairs. I suspect it was due to the doors not being closed correctly on some floor. The room was good, clean and with hardwood type floors. The coffee/tea facilities - basically a kettle and cups - were really useful in expensive Reykjavik; We had to ask for extra supplies as they were not automatically restocked daily. This is probably just a teething problem. Whenever we made a request (supplies, balcony key) they responded very quickly. The mini-bar fridge was useful for our milk and our own beers. Wi-fi worked well, the room was pleasant, the bathroom had a particularly good shower, but no bath. Hairdryer included. Staff were friendly. The newness of the hotel caused minor difficulties. It is on a street with limited vehicular access, so the guy collecting us for a tour was wandering up and down shouting our name, rather than going in to the lobby. They will learn. Definitely recommended. There are minor disadvantages by being new. They were not important to us and will eventually disappear. The plus points were the coffee/tea facilities, a fridge, helpful staff, a great location and an introductory rate.

We loved our stay at Oddsson, we had a private room with an en suite which was very comfortable and clean. Highlight was the kitchen facilities, it was great to be able to go across the road to the supermarket (there are two in the vicinity) and buy food to cook rather than eat out which is pretty expensive in Reykjavik. It wasn't too far to walk into the centre, we enjoyed the walk anyway. We had breakfast included which we didn't realise so that was great to have each morning to set us on our way. Teamed up with the free yoga classes and the hot tub on the roof I couldn't recommend it more...not sure I would stay in a dorm but would definitely stay there again in a private room.

Capital Inn is located a short distance by car from downtown Reykjavik-for that matter everything is! Within two miles or so from a large mall, has abundant parking. My room which shares a central living space, kitchen and bathroom with two other rooms was spotless, I would even go ahead and state that it was an example of Nordic chic! One enters the apartment through a door which opens into the kitchen, of the kitchen three rooms marked A-B-C represent the individual rooms which are private and are lockable. The bathroom and shower was fine, the kitchen area with all conveniences microwave, refrigerator, stove? But the star was the room itself, regular size, not huge but clean lines, bright white decoration and light wood decor and floor. The Wifi was good speed. The included breakfast was excellent value considering the horrendously high food prices, it included coffee, tea, juice, eggs, cereal, toast, milk, eggs, fruit salad, sausages and some sort of Icelandic pate which

Easy self-check in, they gave us a very informative email few days before we arrived. There were well equipped small kitchen in the room. And free wifi too! They provides free parking, which is a big plus. We met the owner and had a nice chat with him, super friendly guy. The only problem was the shower drain didn't work properly, so it was a bit hassle. But it's not a big problem. We have booked for one more night for our last day in reykjavik before heading back home

location is easy, just a few minutes from the downtown area and just off the main highway with public transit out front. Libby is clean and modern, with a computer for guest to use, pamphlets and drinks at the bar. adjacent is the breakfast area. out room was on the 5th floor with a balcony and view of the harbour. beds were very comfortable, 2 pillows and individual quilts. lots if English channels if you're looking for tv entertainment. bathrooms we're well equipped - shower was roomy with shampoo and soap and large towels on the warmer! best hotel hairdryer I used in my 2 week trip 😁 breakfast was pretty good - oatmeal, fruit, skyr, Icelandic fish dishes, cold meat and cheese, hard boiled eggs and a toaster with 5 or 6 different kinds of breads, delicious warm pastries and juices! very good hotel with helpful staff 😊

Everything was amazing in this Hotel, best location surrounded with restaurants, 5 minutes walk to the sea , very professional and helpful staff, they actually go out of their way to help you in anything you need, spacious room with fully equipped kitchenette, nice amenities and mini bar items, complimentary Juice, milk, coffee, tea, corn flex & one bottle of mineral water, very comfortable bed, I highly recommend this Hotel to Families and Solo travellers, If I come back to Reykjavik again I will definitely stay in this Hotel only. I checked out early in the morning as I had to catch a early flight and I didn’t get chance to Thank you all for making my stay amazing at Reykjavik. this is a 2 star hotel/hostel only 10mins away on foot from the bsi bus station. also it is only 5mins away from halgrimskirkja church and 15mins from the city centre. so it has excellent location and the price is fine when you have in mind the price of accommodation in reykjavik. beds were comfortable, it was warm, clean and the breakfast was also ok. would stay there again.

We loved Canopy by Hilton in Reykjavik city center. The location was truly perfect. It was my second time to Reykjavik and my husband’s first. We both agreed the location was fantastic- easy walk to the best shopping and dining in Reykjavik (and, of course the church, Harpa and the Old Harbor) Parking in the garage across the street was very reasonable and convenient. We arrived very early and were able to get into our room by noon. Checkout time was also noon, which was very helpful on our last day. The room was extremely comfortable and beautifully decorated. Free breakfast far exceeded expectations - generous warm and cold buffet in a gorgeous restaurant. We would highly recommend canopy to other visitors and will definitely return!

This was the 2nd leg of our honeymoon (stayed at the south), and it was a great idea to stay at this hotel. It was at the centre of everything - within walking distance to "all things must-do" in the Reykjavik. It was across a grocery store and across this food hall. You will never go hungry! Make sure that you get a room with a balcony. On our last night in Iceland, chilling with a beer, the Northern Lights appeared before us! It was perfect! :)

This is an excellent choice for Reykjavik. The location cannot get more central than Radisson 1919. The rooms were smart and functional, the service was friendly and prompt. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. But attention to detail was lacking on two counts - the shower head and shower area could have been cleaned more thoroughly. Same thing with some of the tables during breakfast time.

Certainly great for a stay of a few days. But 8 days felt a bit too long to be climbing up out of what is basically a space-theme-like futon-box with a built-in media center, mirror, and blue lights. Mattress was a bit too hard for my personal liking, but for a short stay should pose no problems to the younger generations. Staff was awesome, able to help and set up everything from breakfast waffles to VR game time. Cleaning people were on point everyday, so the hostel never felt like a hostel but more like a decent hotel. A little pricey, but generally good value for your money as long as you find your food and drink elsewhere. It's outside the downtown area, so you gotta walk quite a ways or take a bus to get to anywhere important. That bothered me, but then again, I'm an old man! :) Will definitely stay there again in the future and would recommend the experience to anyone curious.

Excellent. The hotel was as I expected (stylish, clean, great Aveda bath products, new, cute trendy cafe for breakfasts, near the lake and downtown). Love the bright airy rooms and we were upgraded for our wedding stay. Our family had a great time. This is exactly what I wanted. The only odd thing is there are no phones in the rooms to contact reception and the towel cart stayed in the guest elevator all day.

The water in the apartment tasted and smelled of sulfur. Our phones did not work in Iceland, therefor contacting someone for help was nearly impossible. There is no concierge, or equivalent, at the location. We were on our own. Two big negatives for us. But the apartment was clean and well equipped, spacious enough with a pleasant character. The hotel is well located in downtown Reykjavik. The staff was courteous and helpful. Our room was large and clean. There was an noticeable sulfur smell when using the hot water, but that's to be expected with geothermally heated water. The breakfast offerings were the best among other guesthouses and hotels we have visited in Iceland. Overall a good, albeit expensive, hotel experience. While prices are much higher in Iceland, we prefer the warmth and cultural experience of (cheaper) guesthouses to hotel rooms.

The location of Hotel Reykjavik Centrum could not be any more central. It is within walking distance of all the major sights of Reykjavik. The rooms are well-designed by Icelandic standards. clean and comfortable. The hotel has a fine restaurant that is considered among the best in the city, and rightly so. What I did not like about the hotel is the nickel-and-diming: in this day and age we should not have to pay for internet in the room. Also, the room rate quoted usually does not include breakfast. All in all, I was very pleased with my stay at Reykjavik Centrum. It has become my preferred hotel in Iceland's capital.

Location is good and within town and walking distance to most eateries, clean and sufficiently equipped for cooking and relaxing. Not a hotel but more like a apartment we felt it was a better choice while staying in Reykjavik especially since we brought two large cargo bags for the excursion and sight seeing we had planned. Staff was helpful and we only meet once when we first arrived, and checking out was easy. Overall a well recommended apartment.
