"This hotel boasts being around for 100 years and judging by the hair-dryers this seem true. The hotel is a basic hotel with staff who try very hard in a Fawlty Towers kind of way. Information provided by reception staff about the local area were inevitably wrong and the little guy who runs around doing anything that crops up will remind you of Manuel. The rooms do not have security boxes although they may be available at reception. There are a couple of passable restaurants in the near vicinity. Don't be talked into going on the bus to the beach south of the town. The lilos and umbrellas are booked out for the season and even though there may be 100 empty chairs because they are booked you will not be allowed to use them. The beach consists of big white rocks that you cannot sit on and the thin strip of public beach area would not accommodate a small dog. The city is off the tourist trail except for ferries linking Greece and Italy."

"I booked this hotel while in transit as we needed a hotel for the evening close to the ferry in Ancona . i had never been to Ancona before and was not aware of the hotel choices available. When I checked in, I was told right from the start that I booked the hotel for 1 person. I have been traveling for 24 days as a couple and I know I did a search for 2 persons. I was charged an additional 15 euros for an additional person. I could have booked the same reservation through other sites at a lowere rate. This did not make for a great start at the NH Hotel. This hotel was not a 4 star hotel, I would have reviewed is as a 3 star hotel. It appears to need some upgrades . The look and feel in the hotel was that it was grand in it's day but quite antiquated today, it needs to be more inviting. My room was very dusty to the touch. it appears to not get a lot of activity, when they book a room, they should refresh the rooms. The rug and walls were in need of repair, replacement. The staff was helpful in our car return and taxi reservations. We dined in the restaurant as we were too tired to venture out on foot. the food was good but the whole atmosphere had an eary vibe."

"The hotel is fantastically located on topo of a cliff overlooking the Adriatic Sea and beautiful beaches. however, the room and especially bath room was tiny and did not offer much comfort, especially when consdiering the not so quaint room rate. The dinner experience was below par what the service is concerned, the food, though, was excellent, but that the first four choices of wine that we tried to select were "out of stock" puts a question mark on the wine list and the sommeliers plannning. there were other loopholes in the service as well which should not happen at this level.
