This ancient city in the center of Myanmar has perhaps the highest number of Buddhist temples, stupas, and pagodas than any other place in the world. It’s safe to say that Bagan is overflowing with very important spiritual sites, and it’s often busy with not only tourists vying for a photo, but also those who are on a spiritual journey.

The city is served by two airports, Pakhokku and Nyaung U airports. Hotels near Nyaung U Airport are conveniently located in the historic district with easy access to the airport as well as the city center. This airport serves as the most popular and busiest travel hub for much of the regional airlines, making it the perfect access into the city.

Bagan’s holiest place, Ananda Temple is said to have been built sometime during the year 1091. As important religious sites go, this is surely the most important one in Bagan, and is usually very crowded with pilgrims and international tourists. There is a wide range of hotels near Ananda Temple in the Old Bagan district, making it easy to find the right accommodation to fit any travel needs.

Being a city of so much history, Bagan’s Archaeological Museum is not a destination to be missed.
