Where to stay in Ballarat
Ballarat hotels & accommodations

Enjoyed our stay at the Mercure Ballarat Hotel very much. Everything was very satisfactory and room was clean. One thing I do not like and that is the shower over the bath. It is difficult to get in and out, especially if one is a senior. The towels have seen better days too. Otherwise all was good and the bush setting with the pond is lovely.

we stayed in best western ballarat suites for a night in dec 2011. the location is close to sovereign hill, less than 5mins walk. the room is huge with clean comfortable king size bed, big lcd tv, huge toilet with double sinks. it is definitely my choice of stay if i ever get to visit ballarat.

we extended our stay on the fly during out visit to ballarat and hotel is 1 of the deciding factor. 1. the staff are professional. good knowledge of area, directions and suggestions. 2. Location is walking distance to 2 big supermarket and major shopping belt, and on the main road toward the major attractions (Sovereign Hill and wildlife park). 3. Room size is very spa...

My partner and I stay in Ballarat often, and would normally stay at one of the hotels on Lydiard St. This place has a distinct 70’s vibe (which we loved, and could easily be a selling point), but the room was significantly larger than we’re used to in the ‘rat, the bed was extra comfy, the heating excellent (not always guaranteed in Ballarat) and the TV was huge. The s...

The location of this hotel is great with several eateries / restaurants easily accessible right across the street. Room is big, comfortable bed and pillow. Parking space allocated by room. The only down thing is that they have a Key Down for guests who required early check out before reception opens. Will definitely be back if we get to visit Ballarat again.

Host was really nice n friendly. Provided us with dinner suggestions and helped me get a room on the ground floor for my parents. Rooms are clean n nice. Best thing is there's a heater in the bathroom so it's not too chilly when taking a shower. Thumbs up!

Definitely just looking for a bed for the night, located close to Sovereign Hill for their Christmas in July, Winter lights. Found this Motel on Agoda, last minute and got what I considered a great price for a bed for one night. This Budget chain motel room, was dated in decor and the motel room is a little bit tired. However, the lady at reception was welcoming and...

Walking distance to the station and main street was great. Booking and arrival were absolutely hassle free. Arrived to a beautifully clean room, airconditioner on for our arrival and a supply of tea, coffee and cookies! Pretty interesting building converted into individual apartments

Old, traditional, authentic Australian Hotel/Pub. The rooms had been recently renovated and where very comfortable and clean. Although there was no breakfast option available, next door in the same complex was a beautiful cafe serving anything you could require for breakfast. The location was right in the middle of Ballarat amongst the many restaurants and bars. We h...

I was in Ballarat for a short getaway and all I needed was a bed. The free WiFi and tv were a plus. Next to a restaurant and also a pizza shop, so dinner options are sorted. Walking distance to Sovereign Hill (about 20mins) and nearby shopping centre (about 15 mins). I knew what I was in for and I knew this wasn’t a high end hotel. It was a private room with shared fac...

We stayed here as a halfway stop on our way to the Grampians. As it was just out of the main CBD of Ballarat, in the Avenue of Honour, it was perfect for a fast early departure. The rooms are not fancy, but clean and comfortable. The internet access is fast and free. The staff is friendly, as is their beautiful dog, who made friends with us in the car park. It is in ...

Thank you to all the staff at The Alfred Motor Inn Ballarat. We enjoyed our stay and the rooms were exceptionally clean an older motel. The price was perfect for what we wanted to spend for one night. We walked across the road to the Golf Club for a pleasant meal. Bed was super comfortable and the sheets were crisp and clean. The shower had great pressure and the towe...

It was great..we were glad we booked Goldfields. We wanted to be near soveriegn hills, and we didn't drive. It was jus a 5mins walk to Sovereign hills and to a street lined with a pharmacy, food, convenience store and petrol station. The bus stop is jus outside the park and easily accessible to town. The cabins are VERY VERY clean, the toilets were gleaming with cl...

We stayed 3 nights at Ballarat Apartments and loved it. We booked one of the larger rooms with a separate (technically the same room but in an L shape) kitchen. Apparently is was originally a doctors home and went through sever iterations before the latest renovation. True old school large (very large) house with ceilings that must have been all of 20ft in our room. Ex...

A couple of teething issues on check in (waiting for notification on how to check in - no reception; access code sent my text message and access to laundry room) but otherwise would recommend and happily stay again. Some noise from road and potentially from pub but pub was quiet during my 8 day stay. I personally didn't find the bed very comfortable. Walking distance ...

we had a great stay at this hotel. the location was perfect - across the road from many restaurants and one block from the mall and shopping area. the hotel is right on the street but very quiet. it was extremely hot(rare for ballarat!) and the air-conditioner was on when we arrived hot from a long drive. staff were helpful and pleasant. breakfasts were ordered and ext...

Absolutely stunning property full of beautiful artwork and character. Wonderfully appointed and supplied with everything you could possibly need for a stay. Our only regret was that our s...

Comfort Inn Sovereign Hill is located in a quiet attractive tree garden setting on the outskirts of Ballarat. There is plenty of free off street parking and the reception was inviting and efficient. It is reasonably priced, clean, and comfortable. Staff were friendly and the buffet breakfast dainty and delicious. Our double room was spacious, well furnished and had...

Very handy to Kryal Castle which we were visiting for a weekend festival. If your visit was to central Ballarat this is a little further away but the value for money might offset that. The manager was very cheerful and helpful and our room was fine with everything comfy and working well.

The location is good. It is in the centre of the town. You can start your city walk from the hotel. The staff is good. We really felt welcomed in this hotel...not easy to have such feeling in Australia. The room is good. Spacious, clean, with good kitchen and air conditioner.

Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. We were visiting friends for the weekend so didn't spend much time in the cabin. It was totally adequate for our needs and so nice and clean. 5 minutes drive into town, and free entry for the pool next door, they even provided pool towels. We are both smokers so it was great to have the little deck with a table and chairs...

We stayed an extra night because we enjoyed Ballarat so much. Our room at Quality Inn & Suites The Menzies was clean and quiet and the reverse cycle air conditioning worked well. There was a range of teas, microwave, kettle, toaster and crockery. Wifi better in some rooms.

A beautiful hotel in a beautiful town of Ballarat! We enjoyed our stay very much! The room is very spacious and very well decorated. Well equipped kitchen. Feels like home. There's a dozen books in the bookshelf, which I like very much. Beautiful and quite surroundings. The apartment is 5 minutes walk from Lake Wendouree. Very good place for relaxation and some light...

The outside appearance may look like a 1960's 6 pack of units but inside is totally modern with new kitchen bathrooms and switching. Like an airb apartment with amenities. Great location stones throw from beautiful lake and can walk to botanical gardens if you wished. Lake AREA best location in Ballarat. My opinion.

Ballarat is a wonderful place for children , they love to visit wildlife park to take a photo with koala
Lake Wendouree with the parks and gardens are a 'must see' one can drive around the Lake or walk part or all the distance around it.
So much of Ballarat is preserved as it was in the 1870s. Architecturally it is a lot of fun and never stops being interesting.
When you take the train from southern cross station to ballast at night, you will need to take a taxi to your hotel.
Actually I just staying there one day. ..a lot of places at ballarat nvr visit just visit two places.
Historical city. Sovereign hills is a must but tickets bit expensive. City it self will take you back to gold rush era
Ballarat is a wonderful city with a very colourful History, the City was "built" upon the Goldrush in Australia, and there are many old, interesting, historical Buildings.
A quiet and friendly town with rich historical background. Visit the lake for relaxation and picnic. Visit the sovereign hill for the town's history in gold finding.
