Traveling to Cambodia? Find Battambang hotels

my friend and i were travelling in cambodia and we had arrived in battambang after a remarkable 10 hour river trip from siem reap. we were exhausted from the boat trip and our previous punishing schedule round angkor wat temples. we had booked a night at another hotel in battambang from where we had planned to continue to the thai border. having spent one night at the other hotel, we decided that we needed to spend a further night to recoup and nurse the colds we had brought with us from the uk. unfortunately the first hotel was fully booked. it didn't take minutes to access the agoda website, find the sanctuary and book i2 rooms. 30 minutes later we were scooped up by a tuk tuk and delivered to this delightful, calm oasis. we had a huge room each - dark wood and white furnishings - a truly chilled out experience. we ate at the sanctuary and were a little surprised to find that the prices in the restaurant were akin to uk rates - something we hadn't found elsewhere.

This hotel was a gem and excellent value for money. Stayed here 1 night while on business in Battambang. Hotel staff were attentive, the free dessert/bananas was a nice touch and the pool was clean and refreshing! Rooms were clean and spacious. Internet reliable and fairly fast. Food was fairly standard fare and cheap, nothing too exciting, but was ok for a one night stay. The surrounding tropical vegetation gave the hotel a "retreat"-like feel, even though it was fairly well located and not far from the centre of Battambang.

As a resident of Battambang, I can honestly say that the BTB resort is the best hotel in the city - by far. The pool view bungalows are huge and come with a private patio. The breakfast buffet offers a good variety of choices. Pool is large and clean, which is usually and issue in other places. To some people, the location might be too far from city centre, yet to me it is an advantage since it is quite unlike many other hotels in downtown Battambang, where you will be woken up at 6a.m. by traffic noise or outdoor weddings. Staff is extraordinary helpful and trained, which again is unusual for Cambodian hotels/guesthouses where owners normally employ their family members who are clueless what 'service' really means. Reminder: this is Cambodia, don't expect perfection. If you want quality and you are willing to pay for it: book at the Battambang resort. Otherwise stay at one of the crappy Cambodian hotels next to the Sangker river.

Senghout Hotel was a wonderful find and the pool was an amazing addition. We stayed in the newly remodeled part of the hotel which was actually in a separate building from the original hotel, so we did have to walk over to use the pool which is on the 3rd floor and gives a nice view of the city, but even better is climbing up to the 5th floor lounge area where you get a 360 degree view of Battambang. The hotel was very clean and the staff helpful in getting us around... Initially we didn't think there was much to see here, but there is much to see if you only look - the local art scene is vibrant with very interesting work. Don't miss Kinsei coffee and juice shop just through the market on 1.5 street.

My wife and I have stayed at Phka villa four times now and in her opinion cannot be beaten for a truly wonderful experience that all weary travellers should not pass up."the best place to stay in Cambodia" Run as a family owned hotel with service not matched anywhere else. Setting is very relaxing with ten ground level well sheltered very private bungalows surrounding a large pool, all with private alcove accessed from your well appointed room: LCD TV(CNN/BBC/Discovery/Animal planet/plus 70 more channels)in room safe/fridge/hair drier/cold A/C/and hot shower. Full Bar and restaurant serves fine food at reasonable prices,cocktails served to order and a happy hour. Located walking distance from the center of Battambang, it is far enough away to make it a real paradise The "jewel in the crown" is not the hotel itself but the family and staff that will be looking after you on your stay, as a family business it is run with a true Khmer welcoming feel 25 hours a day. You will be welcomed into the family as you enjoy the tranquil surroundings, you will come away feeling like most of the guest's we have spoken to.(I wish I could have stayed longer) All of your travel can be arranged at reception:tuk tuk/bike/ bus/boat. when you arrive in Battambang you will be greeted buy a smiling man at the bus/boat to take you to your room. how they know where to pick you up I will leave up to you to figure out. It will be the little things that will impress you about this place. There was an issue a week before we arrived at our last stay with a non family staff member that was swiftly addressed, so they are very aware of guest comfort and safety. The down side of giving a good review of this place, as we have found in the past is booking a room in the future :-/ I know the staff read the reviews. The Maisons Wat Kor resort is a short distance outside of Battambang (about $3 by tuk tuk). There are 8 rooms in a very "green" environment with bushes, trees and a large pond, in addition to the pool. The staff could not have been more helpful. During our 4 night stay, we had breakfast every day and dinner on 3 nights. The food, both in taste and presentation, together with service was excellent and we saw no reason to go outside to eat. We noticed that some ingredients were taken from their own gardens. Most days we had the Khmer breakfast (ordered the night before) rather than the Continental / American breakfast. The only minor bugbear was that despite having a good Internet connection in the reception / restaurant area, in our room coverage was very hit and miss. Considering the size and the layout of the site, it would not be difficult to provide decent coverage in the rooms. If for any reason we returned to Battambang, we would stay in this hotel again without hesitation.

Thoroughly enoyed my stay at Sangker Villa. The room was spacious and cool and bathroom spacious with a good shower. The Villa location was perfect for me, not right in the heart of the town but a leisurely stroll away. The homemade rolls and jam at breakfast were lovely. One of the best places I have stayed in Cambodia. Staff were all very helpful and friendly and arranged tours with reliable tuk tuk drivers. One of the best places I have stayed in Cambodia and would definitely go back if I visit the area again.

It was a good two nights in Jasmine Hotel in Battambang. The hotel is situated just outside the central area of the old city adjoining the railway line. It is an easy walk into the city with many restaurants in the area and the rive is just a few hundred meters away. The hotel itself is clean, the rooms large and simple, but adequately equipped. The rooftop bar is a good place for a quiet late night drink... All in all a good hotel to use as a base to explore Battambang are surrounding areas.

The Hotel is near the night market and riverside. The Break fast is ok. Room and bed is huge. And wide balcony. You will not regret staying in this hotel.. We had a tour the next day, and i have to commend our tuktuk driver. he is on tripadvisor Chhika on battambang tour, he is a good tour guide and driver I recommend everyone to request him if our going on a tour in Battambang. He can explain you everything to the best that he can He is student so he knows.. Everything here is very nice and friendly even the staff.. Can't say anything bad. I enjoyed my stay here..

My second stay in Battambang, and we stayed in the top two rooms with the vaulted ceilings. The hotel has a beautiful Indichinese French Colonial style that sort of takes you back to the 1950’s with it’s dining room details and and the staff is so helpful and dinner options are high quality. I would highly recommend this hotel. If you are looking for a beautiful, low key hotel with only 7 rooms, in a great location then this is your place. Menu is French options with a few Khmer items. Their tagine braised beef is fabulous. My father had the New Zealand filet mignon and after 2 weeks of Khmer food, we were very hungry for something different. Great place and worth every bit the expense.

We initially intended to spend one night in Battambang but liked this hotel so much we decided to stay a second night. It is beautifully designed strikes a really good balance between being modern but having a distinct traditional charm. The floor tiling is really beautiful, Franco-Cambodian style. The rooms are well appointed, and bathroom seriously spacious. The pool is lovely and perfectly clean. Food was very tasty, and breakfast substantial with plenty of options. Coffee was very nice too. Staff are excellent, helped us on numerous occasions booking transport and tickets etc. English perfect and very friendly. The own John was very friendly when we introduced ourselves, and I got the feeling that the staff enjoy working here. We paid around £45 a night inc breakfast, a very good price for a hotel of this quality. The hotel is a little walk from the centre, put perfectly accessible and $1 tuk-tuk if you don't fancy the 10 minute walk. All in all, although it's a little more expensive than some of the other places we looked at in Battambang, this place is a cut above the rest and well worth the extra few dollars. A great value for money hotel that you'll remember for a long time.

Only good things to say about this hotel. It's clean, comfortable and the staff are so friendly and helpful. Less than 10mins walk to Street 1, 2 and 3 where the cafes are. If you arrive late Sunrise cafe is just around the corner. You can arrange for a tuk-tuk with the hotel. Only US$5 return trip to the nori/bamboo train which is a must do. It's about 15mins away. Also catch the local circus Phare for US$14 - cheaper than in Siem Reap. A fantastic show with very skilled performers ( no animals used). You can buy tickets at the hotel. The circus is about 10 minutes away by tuk-tuk (US$5 return). They arrange bus tickets as well. So convenient and at standard rates - US$6 to Siem Reap by Mekong Express mini bus which I recommend. I enjoyed my stay at Holiday Hotel Battambang. It's one of the few tall buildings around. So you can get somewhat of a view of the town if you're on the 7th or 6th floor. I'll definitely book with them again.

We spent 3 nights in Battambang, which is probably all you need if you are travelling Cambodia. The room was great, huuuuge bed which was comfortable and working fridge/aircon. Curtains let quite a bit of light in. We were on 4th flood and there is no lift so please bare that in mind if you struggle climbing stairs. Had ants in the bathroom one morning but when came back on evening was fine. Staff were ok, didn’t interact with them much. The breakfast in the dodger hotel (where the pool is) is great value for money at $4 for lots. The only day we went to the pool it was a bit murky (I sat on side and dipped my legs) and after about 2 hours they had closed it off. But good value for money!

Excellent! We got our room upgraded on the first night at no extra cost, moving to the room we booked the next day wasnt a problem as the room standards were very high! The bed was the most comfortable bed we have slept in through out asia! The rooms were very clean and new! Bathroom was spotless, really powerfull shower! Close to the night market and a short walk over the bridge to town! Only down side was the the laundry was very expensive in terms of Cambodia standards! We loved it here so much we booked an extra night!! Best hotel for our budget $10-$20 per night!

The Ramchang is in a quiet location about two kilometers from central Battambang. This was not a problem for us since we had our own transportation, but if you are touring the Battambang Region you may have to pay considerably extra transportation costs. This can probably be significantly avoided if you book tours that INCLUDE transportation to/from the hotel. If you enjoy walking around the cities you visit, just be aware that the 1st km. toward town is a muddy, potholed road. Okay, after saying that I want to say that I really enjoyed our stay at Ramchang Guesthouse. It was quiet, our room was very nice except there is no place to hang clothing and there are no handholds in the shower (I'm 72 and handholds come in handy on a slippery floor). My mattress was quite firm which was great for my back. The small pool was kept clean and looked inviting. The grounds had interesting plantings. Breakfast was not included and was ordered off an extensive menu. We had an Asian breakfast of Big Noodles with Pork and Vegetables, Coffee and shared a Baguette with Jam for a total of $7.00. The noodle soup was the best I've had in 4 years in Cambodia. The staff were friendly and efficient. The AC in the room worked fine, but the TV reception was TERRIBLE. WiFi worked well. We will definitely return to Ramchang Guesthouse on future visits to Battambang.

We stayed in a double room with our 2 kids. The location is good and you can walk to many places in town (bus station, riverside, supermarket, restaurants). This hostel is clean and surprisingly quiet for its size (it’s quite big). The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a pool but is was closed when we were there. Our room and very big. The wet room was fine. We had a balcony where we leave our clothes to dry. The room didn’t have air conditioning : only one fan on the wall. It was boiling hot in attambang when we were there and even hotter in our 3rd floor room. Even our kids couldn’t sleep because it was too hot. We ended up leaving Battambang a couple of days early and the gave us our money back for the 2 last nights. Nevertheless, we recommend this hostel as it was clean and very cheap, but make sure you get AC if the weather is hot!

Battambang is a sleepy town with plenty to see if you do your research. This hotel was very well priced, opposite local food markets Only downsides were demolition going on next door, music from market pumping til late and leaking air con (had to place a bin underneath to catch the drips), and breakfast cafe options nearby were minimal & pricey These are only very minor grievances, you're travelling, you should be up nice and early seeing this great city!

This was one of the best hotel deals I've ever had. The room I had was very spacious with a jacuzzi in the bathroom and two balconies. The room was clean and all the bed linen and towels were very clean, I was happily surprised to see this level of cleanliness in a 3-star hotel, especially in Cambodia. The hotel doesn't offer breakfast, but there's a restaurant just next to the hotel, but it's a bit pricey compared to what you can get in the city centre, which is just a short walk away. I would surely stay in this hotel again if I come back to Battambang.

Pomme Hostel is one of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed at. Owners and staff are great - more personable than any staff I’ve met in Cambodia. Had a great few evenings chatting (and drinking) with them into the night. The bar is one of the “places to be” in Battambang (live music, trivia, daily happy hour, a selection of beers on tap including Cambodian craft beer), but it doesnt stay loud too late in the evening. The rooms are basic and small and get a little warm, but they’re also incredible value for the money. They offer tours (highly recommended - we did the full day and the cooking class with Smokin Pot) and will book your travel. Put simply, we loved this place and you will too.

We loved our beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean room with high ceilings and large window at theThe Asia Hotel . The staff went out of their way to make us feel relaxed and af home. During quiet moments the lovely manager was happy to describe the current conditions in Cambodia, which was greatly appreciated. The fairly standard but tasty breakfast was accompanied by the best espresso coffee had so far in Cambodia. The staff were very helpful, efficient and happy while attending to our request to purchase boat tickets to Siem Reap and tickets for the circus - two "must-do" things while in Battambang. The hotel's reccommended tuk tuk driver Mr Ya Ya and his father Mr Phi Lay provided great guided tours around the town and surrounding countryside.

The guesthouse is in a great location, right next to a delicious restaurant where you can also take a cooking class. You are about 3 minutes away from the market and some other great cafes and restaurants. The room was extremely clean and the bathroom was well kept. Would highly recommend. Staff was also very kind! PS. Not apart of the room but we had an amazing tuk-tuk driver who gave us a tour around the city, he was so helpful and informative, we started with one day and ended up hanging out with him for two days! If anyone wants a driver who is authentic and not trying to hassle you for every penny along with someone to just really help show you Battambang, his name is Mr. Sophat 085-651-731 or 031 4 137 137.

Let's start with the good things about this place... Centralized and accessible to all parts of Battambang. Walking distance to restaurants, shops.. it's right next to the market... what more can you ask for. Rooms are big. Staff are friendly and efficient. Despite being near the market, it's wonderfully quiet at night. Safe too. There's a security guard who stands watch outside (he used to be in the military). .... and now the okay stuff Water sometimes goes from hot to cold... but given the heat of the day it's a welcome blessing. Summary It's worth what you pay for and it's a great place to stay.
