We really loved Berlin. The sights are very interesting and the city wonderful. My husband had to work for 2 days of our trip, so I went around Berlin Alone, it was trouble free, and if I was in trouble with my underground map, somebody would come to help.
I was not worried traveling alone at any stage. I have been there in Summer and Winter time, next visit will be for the Christmas Markets for sure, until the next time.
There is such rich layers of history in the city of Berlin from WW2 to the Cold War-and much before and between! The city is very unique in how the past has been preserved yet merged with the very modern present day architecture.
Shopping, museums and wonderful restaurants guarantee much to do. We found the area to be very international due to the high volume of tourists as well as Embassy headquarters located there. Interaction with "locals" was not as frequent as expected.
Visit Reichstag's dome, museum island, Berlin wall, Jewish memorial etc. But would really recommend to take a short tour on one of the bike ride (can bike together up to 6 people with a guide).
It doesn't cost much at all. This is very fun experience and actually the hi-light of my trip. Well worth to do.
Even during the cold November month, we experienced friendly people, great historic sites, great meals and complete enjoyment when we were out visiting the city and the sights.
To make it even better, take a hop on hop off bus to obtain your bearings -- then everything becomes so much easier to enjoy - you need to become orientated to really enjoy the city.
Great busy city with lots to do for everyone whether it be sight seeing, shopping or enjoying the bars and restaurants it is definitely worth a visit and I shall return.
Very easy to get around using the many forms of public transport or the old fashioned way of walking
Berlin is a multi cultural mix. Something for everyone. So much history in such a small area. Cheap in comparison to other capital city's of the world like Paris or Rome.
Very easy to get around as well.
Full of history & culture and surprisingly green with fabulous autumn colours. The Insider/Berlin Walking Tour is excellent and not too tiring as the pace is relaxed.
It showed us sights we wouldn't have found ourselves. We were there for 5 days & got the 3 day Welcome Card with Museum Island pass which gives free public transport travel and free/reduced price access to all major sights.
history filled, like pages coming out of the storybooks. culture. culture. culture. Make sure to have cameras ready, and do you history reading before travelling.
Berlin really impressed me and my husband. We like activ trips and Berlin was the most interesting place we've ever seen! So young, strange, bright, conceptual.
.. If you are artistic person don't loose your chanse to visit this wonderful place.
Berlin is a city full of culture and you can see this in places like "Check-point Charlie". Berlin just says look at my history and fall in love with me.
Its a city that has gone through drastic changes from the cold war to unification and this shows. The people are warm and friendly and its a nice place to wonder around for a couple of days and get lost in the culture and history of the city. The city is also easy to get around via local transport so you always have a way to move about. The city has a array of food offerings from Asian, Italian, German. I would recommend anyone to come to Berlin and immerse themselves in a city full of life and history.
I love this gritty city. There is tremendous cultural energy in Berlin. The nightclubs are great and there are plenty of museums and cultural events.
Lots of free things to do as well. I took in the free concert the Berlin Philharmonic performs in the foyer of their Concert Hall every Tuesday at 1 pm. Nice way to spend 45 mins on Tuesday afternoon. The place was packed so you need to get there at around 11:30 to grab a viewing area. The Holocaust Memorial was also a very moving experience and is free although you have the option to donate money as you exit. You can also find interesting theatre in Berlin. And if you're interested in theatre I suggest checking out the Berliner Ensemble, even if you don't speak english this is a company one should see. Maxim Gorki theatre does some performances with English titles but don't expect traditional takes on the contemporary classics they produce. The Berlin Philharmonic is an exceptional evening as well. So many things to do, so many markets, so much shopping, so much culture, so much history. It's definitely a city to check out as it has something for every age.
Go for the free city walk and the concentration camp tour. Concerts were great as well. Lot of culture and history so it was a great place to visit.
Weather in April is quite changeable so bring a strong umbrella. (wind, sleet followed by sunshine was quite common)
Berlin is a wonderful city to visit which has a lot to offer, The city has a rich history and culture and for shopping it is a walhalla.
It is only a 6 1/2 hours drive from Netherlands or you have plenty of budget airlines that fly within an hour.
Though I only spent a night in Berlin, I am surprised that there is a ZOO in the city. The landscape design is well-organized.
Really hope that the government can pour some fund into the church building nearby ( It looks torn down.)
There are definitely lots of places to do shopping in berlin. Also, there are lots of attractions to visit in berlin as well.
absolutely in love with Berlin, sooo much history, art, good food, shopping centers, lovely people, simply the best vacation
This city is not safe for Asian people. The local people try to take advantage of us, such as beggars, street show and etc.
We even saw a German peeing on the street near Messe Berlin. The worst part is that i was pickpocketed near Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church around 9 pm. They came to greeted me, talked to me in Chinese and they tried to hug me for goodbye. After 1 minute, I just realized there's something wrong. Yes, my wallet was stolen.
The people in Berlin are extremely helpful and friendly. I would recommend Berlin to everyone to experience on their own.
The Mall of Berlin has over 300 shops and great restaurants too. There is something for everyone to do to include sight seeing, shopping, eating at great restaurants, or just relaxing.
Large historical city with a small population in comparison to other European capitals. Safe environment for tourists.
Interesting historical background covering a long timeframe.
Recall the History, it is a very worthwhile to visit Berlin to learn the History and feel the tragedy at that moment.
Clean, good transport system, lots of historical sites. Make sure you get a day pass for transport, so much easier.
I felt safe in this city and there were a number of things to do without having to spend money. Make sure you visit the Reichstad. It's free but you do have to reserve a time slot. Has a great view of Berlin from the dome. Make sure you take your passport. Well worth the visit.
Berlin is a big city and very complicated sunway and train line. Have to study before use it. We can buy day ticket.
its cheaper. We can see some German historical site of WWI and WWII . Its to remind us precious of peaceful and the terrible of war
Berlin has a lot of history to learn and visit. The city is so vibrant and the people are so friendly and helpful.
It is also very easy to walk to places of interest. I was there for 4 days and did not have time to explore the outskirts of Berlin like Potsdam, etc.
berlin is 3 day maximum stay. if you are interested in world war 2 and cold war era then this is a spot for you.
city has a strange historic warzone vibe. shopping malls are modern but not so really cheap. food is overpriced and almost without traditional dishes (at every corner you can eat turkish kebap and other "all over the world" dishes)
I regret staying only 5 nights in Berlin. Berlin is a city where attractions never run out for you to visit.
I am sure Germany reaping great benefits from tourism because of Berlin.
Wow not what I expected. Berlin is a wonderful city with the locals going out of their way to be helpful.
The transport is so easy to use if you need to, or walking is another easy option as the city has no hills. A relaxed city with a huge amount of greenery and it is open, with wide streets. The amount of history was amazing, especially coming from Australia.
Berlin is always my favorite place to visit. People here are very friendly and it is an organized city.
You will not be worried about safety or pic-pocket like Paris or other cities. A place that you really can relax and feel at ease.
Cosmopolitan, excellent river trip, Jewish museum a taxi ride, but a lot of sights can be done on foot.
Free open spaces, bicycles abound and good beer!
family friendly...travelled with three children and fare is so affordable, with discounts and freebies
Great mixture of everything. One downside is that it is so big and you are unable to walk everywhere.
