Where to stay in Bilbao
Bilbao hotels & accommodations

We only had one night in Bilbao and this is really a great choice for our booking. The hotel is easy to get to from the train station by taking the Metro. The airport bus is also just a 5mins walk away. It's about 15mins walk away from the Bilbao Guggenheim Museum and if you walk further towards the river, one will reach the Old Town. I love the spacious room and the...

I like hotel that doesn't use carpet and has simple design. This hotel fits the bill. Staff was nice. Since my booking didn't include breakfast, the check-in staff promptly asked me if I want to include breakfast for a discounted amount. Bilbao is not a big city and I just walked everywhere. Post office is right on the next block on the right. A few blocks down on the ...

Excellent. The room was spotlessly clean and well appointed. Very comfortable beds and loads of room in modern bathroom. Our only issues were we found the hotel was overheated and there was little room to get around in the bedroom. However these were minor issues which we dealt with. Staff were very efficient, friendly and helpful. In fact Bilbao as a whole was a great...

Jon and Sebastián at guest services went above and beyond to make our trip memorable. We were in the Basque region for a gastronomy tour and needed assistant getting to some of the restaurants. They arranged a mix of transportation modes from buses to drivers to minimize cost but maximize our comfort. They even dropped off different little gifts with each note of our r...

The hotel is very pleasant with good modern facilities and very well situated for main Bilbao attractions. Staff delightful and helpful. However, next time I would insist on a room not facing the street. We discovered on our last night, a Thursday, that across the road is a huge music club - noisy large crowds on the road until 4 am and relief that we weren't staying ...

My family had a really good stay in this hotel (2 rooms). Staff was lovely and helpful. One night we asked by phone for a wine opener and we got it in less than 2 minutes. The waiter didn't accept any tip at all. Little things that speak themselves about the hotel and staff quality. The hotel is 10 mins walking to the Gugenhaim musseum, 20 mins walking to the old ...

This is a large, modern hotel well placed in the city centre for exploring Bilbao on foot. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in the area and much to see and do nearby. It is, however, quite impersonal and we thought more suited to business or conference guests. We would describe Reception staff as efficient rather than friendly. Our room, although clean and w...

Everything was perfect. At the check-in we got a perfect introduction of the city of Bilbao. Then we entered into our room which was quite and very clean. In the bathroom there was all the necessities (shampoo, tooth brash, shaver, etc.). And the breakfast was extraordinary. We never had a rich buffet like this. And what we also estimated very much that this hotel gav...

The Hotel Zenit Bilbao was easy to find via car. We were a little annoyed when we arrived as we has specifically requested a car space on our reservation and the car park was full so we had to park our hire car had to be parked on the street for the first night we stayed. We obtained a car space the second night we stayed and it cost us for the night, we thought this ...

Artistic decorations in a prime location. Very clean facilities with a helpful manager. Just beware that it doesn't have a 24 -hour receptionist. You need to have a telephone to call them upon arrival to be let in (problematic for foreign tourists whose phones don't work in Spain). You are given a door code to let yourself in the building.

The hotel is a little bit outside the old city, however has very good value for money. The rooms were nice, clean and very comfortable beds. It is possible to find free street parking near the hotel. I stayed two nights and would stay again if in Bilbao.

Not quite a hostel but not quite a hotel. Staff was amazing. Rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. However, the walls are pretty thin. There are quite a few bars nearby (awesome) but I was kept up by a mass exodus of people leaving the bars around 1-2 during the weekdays I was there- bring earplugs and you're golden.

This place gets the highest rating of any place I have ever stayed at. 10/10 for everything. 1. Right in the centre of town. Good views from the balcony. 10 mins walk to Guggenheim. 15 mins walk to train station. Small supermarket just down the road. 2. Apartments on 6th floor so above street noise when you are out on the balcony. 3. Fully outfitted kitchenette with mi...

Bilbao turns out to be not such a big city, it was easy to walk from the hotel to the old part across the bridge as well as to the Guggenheim museum. The funicular north of the river is a must also. It was a bit of a disappointment that all bars close at 11pm in Bilbao. The room was clean and staff was friendly. Make sure to come with a small car if you intend to use t...

All day facing a Noisy street. At 12midnite --3 different kinds of rubbish truck will come to collect rubbish. There will be loud noises from the restaurant/bar and people disposing glass btles into the bins . Room was hot -- no air conditioning for the whole apartment, we had to request for a fan & its only available the next day . But The fan was not arrive as promis...

We have recently retuned from a weekend break at this hotel and would have no problem recommending it to others. It is well located for all Bilbao has to offer.Appropriately priced for the facilities available,it is clean and well maintained throught out. The proximity to the river and the board walks to the old town and the Gugg are a welcome benefit for a stay here....

Walkable to most places; Guggenheim, old town and shopping areas. Though the street is quiet, within 1 minute, you can reach the essential tourist areas; eateries, shops, supermarket, grocers and train station. Room is spacious; no nasty noises at night. Bed is super comfortable. I managed to park my car at a public lot like 70m from the hotel. In August, all street pa...

I would never stay this hotel again or recommend anybody to stay in this hotel This is not due to hotel itself but due to frustrating staff We arrived in the hotel and rang the bell to ask staff open the door for us Even though we gave them booking number and my name, they said it is not important At the same time they said they could not do anything for unless we tol...

This is a very functional, anonymous room for the night. The only reason I chose it is because it's not TOO expensive and it's 2 stops on the train from the Autobus terminal. I can't think of any other reason to recommend it. The wifi barely works except in the hallway by reception. There are no common areas so it's claim to wifi is tenuous at best.

Pension Manoli was fairly average for budget accommodation. Couldn't ask for a better location (basically next door to Plaza Nueva) but an uncomfortable bed (gave my partner a back ache), loud neighbours and an overall feeling of shadiness (we had to pay in cash, hostel isn't advertised outside on the street) somewhat upset the experience. The lady who took care of u...

Basque Boutique was the best hotel we stayed in during our 2 weeks in Spain. Our room was styled based on Picasso's Gernika, and a pleasure to spend time in. While not a large room, it lacked nothing and has a small balccony that looks out onto the street below, Pilota Kalea. Located in the old town, Casco Viejo, it is noisy and lively into the early hours, but we we...
Cheap places to stay in Bilbao

i took a bus(ALSA) from Barcelona to Bilbao, but it arrived at 0600. i send email to check whether they allow me have a late check out( as i just need to have a shower and sleep a while). Finally, they allow me early check-in at 0700 so that i can have a good sleep .

Simple but we had a good stay here. Would recommend to any unfussy traveller! Room was clean and comfortable, shared bathroom not quite so clean, some hairs in the plug hole etc. Fantastic location right in the Old Town and good value for money. Walls very thin!

Owner is a bit of a jobsworth (or maybe just incredibly frank, either way he came across as rude at times) but the hostal is fine and clean. Bathroom needed some attention (tissue on floor, wet tiles from previous user - their laziness, not the owners) but otherwise fine.

Bilbao is a vibrant city. Judging from the street scene, the happiness index of the city should be high.
The city is great, I would always recommend taking the city tourist bus as it gives a good oversite to all there is to see in and around the city.
I hadn't expected Bilbao to be such a beautiful city. It was so easy to walk around, very pedestrian friendly.
Nice transportation hub to Rioja wine region. You just needed 1 hour to travel to Haro or Logrono. The Guggenheim museum is very nice.
Lovely little city with enough to see and do to fill up 1-2 days. the city is flat and easy to walk around - there is a tram and metro network but we walked everywhere so cant comment on that.
