2nd time to Bintan. Realize that things is getting quite expensive. Something that I do not like is that whenever you try to purchase food or even phone card and they know you are tourist, they will mark up the price which i find it quite disgusting even though some local in front of me bought the same thing as me.
Tanjung Pinang and Bintan attractions (like Nirwana, Trikora etc) is 1 hour apart. So don't get confused coz Tanjung Pinang is basically for mature adults who prefers spas and shop wheres Bintan are where 5 star hotels and blue beaches with attractions for children are.
good for golfers since there are 4 golf course within 30 mins drive. other than that it might be a little boring with nothing to do than just chill on the balcony or pool.
In Bintan, the primary forest cover was in a limited area on the hills. There was extensive deforestation done mostly for the cultivation of gambier (Uncaria gembieri).
The plantation size of each gambier plantation was 30 hectares (74 acres). For processing of gambier leaves firewood was essential.
As this is my first trip to Bintan Island and to Lagoi area I will want to travel to other parts of Bintan to see the whole of Bintan Island in the near future.
First trip is memorable one and I found the people in Bintan Island very helpful and friendly. Will definiately make a second trip to Lagoi in the year 2015.
Bintan Island is really an awesome place which close to Singapore and easy to access. People are nice and lots of outdoor activities and sightseeing spots.
I would recommend visitor to go the Katong Seafood Restaurant at evening. You must have an unforgettable memory with the beautiful sunset.
It recommeded to book your day tour there for a day and so that they can recommend you the attraction and bring you to their attractions with any hassel.
It is a good place for volation and relaxation but not a good place for shopping and dinning. The food is quite expensive at the resort area.
If you would like to try cheaper food, it is better to book hotel outside the main resort area. The SPA is very good!!
Bintan Resort centre contain some shops, bowling alley, food court and massage place. Short walk from Nirwana Gardens Hotel (5 mins).
Food is relatively cheaper than Nirwana Gardens Hotel.
acceassiblity wise they are working on it and they constructed roads for easy access:)and it takes shorter time to trave;l both ends
I have only visited Bintan twice. The resorts are definitely luxurious and it's a rewarding experience stay there for a few days.
I believe there isn't much to do on Bintan Island as a tourist, plenty of luxury resorts though. My first visit was several years ago so I don't remember much else, but that's a good reason to visit again!
Beautiful and peaceful island. Nice beaches around. Nature. Everything there are quite pricey especially around resort area.
It was my first time when I went over to Bintan. It is slightly still underdeveloped as compared to Batam which is great.
People are generally friendly. Interesting Islamic culture and history. Very limited shopping areas and varieties.
clean beaches, good weather. various resorts and spots to enjoy yourself. about an hour's ferry ride away from Singapore.
Very quiet and an appropriate place to just relax and enjoy the morning walk by the beach and dinner at seafood kelong.
Mangrove is highly recommended! also you may spend some time on the north or east coast beach and play some sea sports
Clean beaches, lots of nice resorts, good services. Everything that Bali can offer but less crowded and commercialized.
have no enough time to go diving and fishing, besides, it is a pity that I do not find the Batam Dolphin Lodge Tour.
One night is more than enough, nothing much you can do here, only go to beach and enjoy seafood and local food.
ok, beach quite good. activity wise ok-got beach activities. All beaches not very clean though. Bit touristy.
rich in culture. delicious and cheap local food. cheapest household products. lots of cheap imitation goods
Bintan Island is good for golf and high end resort. But Tanjung Pinag city is boring, not much thing to do.
nice place to stay. lucky to have upgrade rooms. food is great. want to come over again. i love the place.

Much of the activities available in Bintan is resort dependent. The city barely has proper shopping malls.
There is no cinema in Bintan. Water activities are much affected by the tide levels. The seafood in Bintan can be relatively cheap especially for eateries near the sea. Travelling around Bintan can be difficult without a driver as the roads have quite a lot of bends and hills, it takes about 50min to get from BBT Ferry Terminal to the city.
The disadvantage of this Island is, all of the places required minimum 45 mins - 1 hours driving duration.
But, the beach and the spa is really good and excellent. I remember the time I visited Bintan Spa & Massage in Tg. Pinang, Facial + Massage were only $58 for 2 persons. The next day before we were went back to Singapore, we visited again the spa.
If you are going to be staying at the Bintan Resort area, be prepared to spend a lot of money. I didn't.
Lived along Trikora beach. Quiter there, not much tourists'. I even made my way there on my own with a bike I rented from the Ferry terminal. You get to actually see what Bintan is really like. Feels just like Indonesia. I've heard all my friends tell me about how expensive Bintan is... But I didn't spend much. Ate local food by the street and seafood restaurants which are not very well lit, sand in your slippers and non air-conditioned, but the food was so gooooood. So worth it(cheap).
nothing much to see or do. if you just wanna a place to hang around and do nothing by the beach then ok.
Not much to really venture in Bintan, BAsically its a place for R&R... so beach, sand, and relaxation.
Bintan is something new to me, simple in everything. I appreciate its being unique among other places.
the houses in the water looks really amazing. Penyangat is my favorite of the islands I visit. Go for the local food outside the streets
