Cant fault the shopping or the Mangrove Hotel for food drinks friendly service views and relaxation and Son Ming chinese in the town centre although there is no eftpos it is not expensive but it is good
When I arrived I knew absolutely nothing about Broome, but left loving the place. Broome is underrated, almost like a great untold story waiting to be discovered.
I will definitely be back. Beautiful beaches, unique activities, great food, friendly locals, rich in history. Just pricey, so save up and spoil yourself.
Broome is a beautiful area to visit in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Highly recommend it for a place to visit with a family or a group of friends.
Nice warm weather. Beautiful sunsets over Cable Beach. Well worth a look.
Only visit June - Sept as it is very hot and humid/wet at other times and prone to cyclones. There is enough to see and do for a couple of days.
Only stay longer if you want to relax on the beach, in which case stay out a Cable Beach. The main shopping attraction is pearls
broome is an interesting place to visit, clean beaches, many interesting places to visit and the food is excellent in the resturants.
There are limited things to see and do in Broome but what is there is interesting - such as the Chinese buildings and cementary.
The shops close early on a Saturday and are not open Sunday so if you go for the weekend only - the shops are not open long. Food is expensive.
For this trip we did the kayaking tour which was brilliant. We also went whale watching and saw a huge amount of whales.
We took the Willie Creek Pearl farm tour and while we were there took a short helicopter ride. We fished and enjoyed Cable Beach and the beautiful sunsets. We were lucky enough to be there while the Stairway to the Moon event was happening as well.
Great spot, so much history, weather superb, loved the camel ride and the tours available, the beaches are just magic.
The only down side is the isolation of Broome to the Eastern States, travel time is so long and it is expensive staying there!
The architecture is different from most other towns/cities. Wide footpaths make pedestrian traffic move freely.
Very good range of shopping. Super cheap 'stuff' to a number of boutique style stores. Many, many pearl stores and of course the argyle diamonds which you certainly don't see very often. Have found the shopkeepers very friendly. The longer you stay, or the more you go back there are always new attractions that you find. The Astro Tours are very affordable and extremely interesting. There are not a huge number of places where you can travel a short distance at night look through lots of telescopes and have someone explain the night sky you are looking at in a simple and exciting way.
Very relaxed, laid back town leading to the excitement of the Kimberley. The pearl stores are a wonderland.
Broome is easy to get around the local bus service is the best way or to go further a hire car is essential
A place that grows on you - the longer you stay, the more you like it. Need to get into "Broome time".
Not for people who want to be entertained all day, every day. Need to just relax and appreciate the colours (sea, rocks, sunsets, markets, horseracing), history, beaches, cafes, restaurants, friendly people. Broome is very isolated, so quite expensive to travel away from the town, though most tours worth the money. A day trip to Horizontal Falls is magnificent. However, Broome has pearling history, camel rides, hovercraft, bus and bike tours, unique Japanese cemetery, flights, kayaking, very interesting museum, plane rides. Excellent Visitor Centre.
