"Absolutely amazing hotel and staff!! We had to extend our stay because it was so hard to leave. From what was meant to be a 2 night stay turned into 5!! The service was out of this world!! Now I know why they call it the President hotel:)!"

Victoria and Alfred Hotel
V & A Waterfront,Cape Town - View on map
"I had an excellent stay at the V&A. It has a very nice atmosphere, great food in the waterfront restaurant, fast internet, modern rooms, plus views over the mountain and waterfront if you are on the right side. Best of all is the location on the waterfront near the various free music events, the massive mall and loads of excellent restaurants. I've stayed in around 5 hotels in Cape Town on recent visits and this one is probably now my favourite for the rate. The spa is also worth a visit, though more expensive than others, they are obviously well trained and very professional."

Cape Town Lodge Hotel
Cape Town City Center,Cape Town - View on map
"The hotel is located a few blocks from Bo-Kaap, near a hop on/off bus stop going to Table mountain and the other direction takes you to the waterfront. The staff and facilities were absolutely wonderful. The biggest surprise (we booked the suite) was the 3-level loft with full kitchen/ living room/ dining (level 1), the master bedroom (level 2) with larger closet area & master bathroom and then an absolutely beautiful balcony view. The loft (level 3) was a complete working office and sitting room with big leather chairs - awesome. Lastly the restaurant server most likely the best steaks in Cape Town - a must try for meat lovers..."

The Verge Aparthotel

"Great one bedroom hotel room - lot of space and had a washer/dryer. Centrally located in Cape Town, only two blocks from the promenade a couple of blocks away from restaurants a bars. The only downside was it had did not have air conditioning (they provide a fan - but it was still a bit hot), and there are no outlets in the bathroom (what about hair dryers and irons?? i had to do my hair in the bedroom with an extension cord to reach the mirror). Taj Cape Town
Cape Town City Center,Cape Town - View on map
"From the time that your reservation is confirmed the Taj experience begins. Before arrival you're greeted with a very Taj welcome message and the option to personalize your stay. Upon arrival you're greeted with friendly helpful faces willing to take your luggage and park your vehicle. The check-in process was seamless and painless. The staff go out of their way to assist and accommodate guests in ways that far exceed the hotels official offerings. Night manager, Giovani was a pleasure to deal with and made the experience at the Taj all the more worthwhile by opening the gym and pool areas long after closing time just so I could get a decent workout and swim in before checking out. The room was immaculate and offered stunning views of Cape Town. The room was also very well equipped with cables for connecting to a wired network, speakers in the bathroom and a large screen TV. The turn down service was prompt and easy to request. All in all a wonderful experience and I would definitely visit again."

"We celebrated our wedding anniversary and stayed for 2 nights. Everything was above expectation - not to mention the magnificent sea view from our room! Thanks to everyone who made our stay so so special. We got surprised with bubbly and rose petals on our bed. So special - thank you again. Hope to see you soon again. "

City Lodge Hotel V&A Waterfront Cape Town
V & A Waterfront,Cape Town - View on map
"We stayed here for 4 nights in December 2018. We were with my in-laws and all of us were very satisfied. My in laws arrived a few days earlier than we did, and they felt that the hotel staff were very helpful in getting them situated in CapeTown. I will say though, that the hotel did not respond to my emails about booking a car to pick us up from the airport, but once we phoned them it was sorted out very quickly. The location is very good, only 10 minutes to the heart of the Waterfront. They have a big parking lot, which was convenient as we had a rental for most of our stay. I didn't eat any of the food because there are so many great restaurants near by! Our room was a good size, modern, and clean. I would happily stay here again on my next visit to Cape Town!"

Traveler impressions of Cape Town

More about Cape Town

Cape Town has quickly become one of Africa's most sought-after travel destinations by boasting excellent museums, Dutch colonial architecture, and great outdoor activities, including rock climbing, mountain biking, surfing, and wildlife-spotting at Table Mountain.

Cape Town is famous for its selection of affordable guesthouses, but luxury hotels and cozy bed and breakfasts are also in full supply. Cape Town’s city center, known locally as the City Bowl, is shaped like an amphitheater and holds prominent districts like the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.

Street markets in the city deal in African handicrafts with a selection spanning affordable souvenirs and African-themed fashions from local designers. The cobblestone streets of De Waterkant are especially atmospheric with a dozen boutiques and a selection of trendy cafés. After a day of shopping, the best places to party in Cape Town are on Long Street or along the bohemian back alleys of Lower Main Road.

Cape Town International Airport offers connections to select cities worldwide. There are a few hotels near Cape Town Airport, but most opt for the 12-mile taxi ride to the City Bowl. Transport options within the city include commuter trains and taxis.

Be sure to check out the interactive map of Cape Town for information on hotel locations, attractions, and must-see destinations.
