Traveler impressions of Cesky Krumlov

More about Cesky Krumlov

The small town of Český Krumlov is a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site with a beautiful medieval charm. Set along the Vltava River, the town gained prosperity thanks to the Rosenburg family. The Italian Renaissance captivated the family and people of the town, and before long, it was able to put up stout competition with the most important European royal courts. To reach this enchanting destination, taking a bus or riding the train from Prague provides the most convenient access.

Art and culture thrive in Český Krumlov, with much of it inspired by its past. No site is greater than the castle that stands over the town. A visit here is nothing short of delightful with a chance to have a picnic in the courtyard and 360-degree views from the castle tower. The Regional Museum is great for getting an overview to the history and culture of the area, and a visit to the old town followed by a stroll through the streets makes for quite a day. It is said that little has changed about the town since the 18th century, and the preservation work to maintain and restore the buildings have earned it a UNESCO status. A number of festivals liven up the city throughout the year and include the reviving of the Renaissance age during the Five-Pedaled Rose Celebrations and a mix of music genres at the International Music Festival. Be sure to check out the interactive map of Český Krumlov for information on hotel locations, attractions, and must-see destinations.
