Where to stay in Chiang Dao
Chiang Dao hotels & accommodations

We were most impressed with Azalea (in fact, we have already stayed 2 other times since this first visit!). Places to stay in Chiang Dao can be very limited, especially when you are looking for a place with great facilities and charm. Well, Azalea delivered on both fronts. The pool is absolutely lovely and, while we didn't make use of the hot spring 'bath' , we had a p...

Set out your expectations: I read some comments and they were not reflected what the resort was made for. Beside the astonishing beauty of the nature in Chiang Dao, this resort located in a great nature spot with a very nice internal decoration, garden, self-growing fruits and vegetables. The resort was open, clean, easily access as it was on the main road. The room w...

1. Buraphat resort is newer resort compared the other resorts in Chiang dao. I booked one room for 4 persons. The room is good, spacious and beds are comfortable but it's quite troublesome when we want to take shower cos the bathroom is downstairs. 2. The pool is quite small and the water not clean, looks milky, when we swam we couldn't see anything. Not much faciliti...

I've stayed here on and off for many years. A simple, straightforward place, often frequented by birders and those who like hiking. Malee is usually very friendly and chatty, occasionally a bit short, but not malicious. A human. Quiet location close to the mountain temple. Breakfast included. The only place I want to stay in Chiang Dao.

Go to The Wes Village in Chiang Dao - we just cannot recommend it enough. First of all, the location is spectacular, right there with a beautiful view of the Doi Luang - the 3rd highest mountain in Thailand - and lush fields and orchards. The suite rooms we stayed in are beautifully designed and spacious and luxurious. The owner Natekittiya is a lovely hospitable pers...

If you have a car, getting here is super easy, and it's close enough to Chiang Dao caves. the grounds are really nice, really forested and well taken care of, with a stream running through, and some ponds. Some of the staff speak decent English as well. We got a free upgrade to a room that overlooked a nice pond. The massage I got here was excellent. Well worth the ...

The woman that made out hotpot and showed us our place was very kind and hospitable. We felt very welcome and had a wonderful dinner (note there was so much hotpot we had enough for two meals (the 2-3 person hotpot would have been more than enough for our family). Lovely spot and the cave nearby was fun.

The hotel is one of the oldest in Chiang Dao. It has great potential, but is quite rundown at the moment. It is most (in)famously known to the locals for its bars which offer (live) music, ballrooms and cheap boos. At a result, extremely stoned people are easily seen on the property. It was bestowed upon by members of the royal family many years ago, and the owners are...

I'll get my beef out of the way first, Chiang Dao is not a cheap place to overnight in! That said, Huan Chiang Dao Resort is comfortable and quiet, has very friendly staff, a lovely garden setting and the best Kao Thom for breakfast for hundreds of kilometres in any direction! The rooms are adequately sized and the bed firm which is standard in Thailand. You park at...

We stayed for 1 night and wanted something special in Chiang Dao. Phu Vara Villa is an exceptional place with very beautiful surroundings in rural Chiang Dao. You have a stunning view at the big mountain from the villa, the garden is well taken care of and the owner is very warm and welcoming. Will definitely visit them again, hopefully soon!

Really cute hostel with such a nice garden and hammocks! Free toast and coffee and the staff are lovely. I felt really at home here. It's a bit of a walk from the attractions in Chiang Dao but central to food and the market. Recommend if you have a scooter. Thank you!

Owner is super sweet, and natural hot spring close by. River flowing next to bungalow makes for beautiful romantic setting. A little of the beaten path, but offers a unique experience close to Chiang Dao. Nice for a night or two, not much in the area.

Dreamhome is exactly that. A truly wonderful place to stay when visiting Chiang Dao. Everything you want to see in Chiang Dao is within easy reach. Oy the owner and her son were wonderfully helpful in every way. Room was big and comfortable with a heavy quilt for those cold Winter nights in Chiang Dao. The grounds are beautiful and immaculately maintained. My only ...

Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Service: the proprietor made our short stay in Chiang Dao better than we could have hoped. We didn't have a car or any plans so he spent the afternoon taking us to a few lovely spots to see - the cave, the temple, and a beautiful restaurant called Chiang Dao Good View. We were there to climb the mountain and he helped us arr...

This is located on the same road with several Chiang Dao resorts at the foot of the Chiang Dao mountain and right down the street from the entrance to the cave. We thoroughly enjoyed the setting there. They have several bungalows that are well appointed with nice decor, bathroom, aircon and internet. Good bed and good hot shower. Their new restaurant serves a really...

Sadly we only stayed at Baan Sri Chiangdao for one night, but we really enjoyed our stay! The owner was extremely welcoming and spoke English very well. He gave us great recommendations for dinner and things to do in Chiang Dao. Breakfast was lovely and the rooms were very cozy. It was a peaceful setting and we hope to return for a long weekend in the future.

The place is beautiful, just above the cave mountain of chiang dao, silent jungle, the only noise is from bird! That was a dream for a couple of nights! Thr room is ok, shared bathroom, everything clean. Bupaa is a great host, you won't spend bad times with her- fantastic bar as well, with instruments to jam!

When I booked this resort, I didn't look closely enough at the location. I wanted to be near the Chiang Dao NP and this is 30km away. My fault entirely but worth bearing in mind. It is on the outskirts of a small village called Ban Na. There are a few small shops but little else. There are four bungalows and a house which the owner lives in. It is very new and each ...

A great, quiet spot for few days stay close to the nature. It is close to the main road, therefore inbetween the caves and the city of Chiang Dao. Both accessible by walking. The cleaniness and the wifi standards are high. There is a great, little onsite restaurant and bar with good choice of food and beer.
Cheap places to stay in Chiang Dao

Amazing place! In the middle of the nature, on walking distance of the cave. The owners are really friendly, I took the bus to Chiang Dao and they picked me up from there to the campsite. It's very peaceful, beautiful surrounding and they offer amazing food. There is always fruit and coffee and tea available and you can use the bicycles for free. Would definitely recom...

My wife and I have been to Chiang Dao several times now, and we really enjoy the drive from Chiang Mai (about two hours). The first couple of times we stayed at Chiang Dao Nest, which is very nice. But the last time we checked they were booked. So instead we found Chiang Dao Hut (which is right next to the Nest). We were not disappointed. We liked the huts very much, a...

This looks like it is still being added to. It is situated along the main highway that runs past Chiang Dao. The room was clean and looked brand new because a lot of the light switches still had the plastic wrapper on them. The breakfast was mostly Thai. So only bread to make toast if you don’t fancy eating boiled rice and vegetables for breakfast. The staff were ve...

We loved this place. And we will definitely be back. We were in the newer rooms with direct access to the pool. The room was Huge. And the beds were really nice we also loved the food at the café and the staff were super friendly. We didn't really enjoy breakfast but that's not a deal breaker.
