We stayed at the Nana Beach four years ago and little has changed there or in general at this beach area near Chumphon. A beautiful swimming pool just across the road from the beach is a rare luxury in Thungwahlaen, and it is kept spotless. The gardens are constantly being tended and this gives the hotel a wonderful lush feel to it. we were a little disappointed with t...

Novotel Chumphon Hotel is almost 12km from Chumphon town.. it is located by the beach.. there are good seafood restaurants along the beach which would get many customers from Chumphon and parts of Thailand for seafood dinner.. very delicious and cheap.. The Novotel Hotel is lovely and beautiful.. it is away from the town so you can really relax at this hotel.. And th...

I drive to Chumphon for a rest. The night market is much worse than Huahin's. We can walk to night market from hotel. The swimming pool is good for kids and the breakfast is well prepared. I don't like Chumphon, but the stay in this hotel make me feel happy and have a good memory.

We were so surprised that our hotel was located across the street from the best beach in Chumphon! The staff was amazing and helped us to our room. We asked to have a taxi waiting for us at 6AM the following morning to the airport, and they got the cost reduced by 100 Baht by pairing us with another couple travelling to the airport (so we paid 250 Baht, or about 8 USD ...

I was reluctant to book a hotel in Chumphon in the city center as, it is, obviously, a beach destination, but being there only for 1,5 days and being the beach destination hotels around 15 kms away from the city we prefered to stay there. The hotel is right in the city center, close to the fresh market. It is small but clean and tidy. Rooms are quite clean and clearly...

hotel is on hard tung wua lan, the best beach in chumporn. very popular for thais and often fully booked due to conferences or company outings. organised boat trips for snorkelling and diving to islands nearby. padi scuba diving courses. excellent buffet breakfast with interesting blue/purple drink made from unchan flowers. lemon grass tea drink. eco friendly garden th...

Overall, nothing to complain. A very pleasant stay indeed. We were granted early check in without any fees at 8.30am thai time. Mins of walking distance to the centre. No breakfast provided as stated but the coffee and hot chocolate provided (6am-11am) is a kind gesture that the hotel gives. However, the room that we stayed had no mirror. A bit of inconvenience to my ...

Perfect. The girl who welcomed us was very Nice and helpful. The day we left the mother of the owner (?) gave us Some rambutan and fingerfood for the kids for the boat trip. In my opinion is the location underrated and offers beach and location more possibilities. Unfortunately chumphon is for many travellers a short pass through.

I wish we had a reason to go back to Chumphon just so we could stay here again. From check in to check out it was superb. Loved our room, our view and most of all the lovely couple and their son that run the resort. Breakfast was lovely and fresh but you must have a dinner here - the best, fresh wonderful food. Cannot recommend Magic House Resort enough

We enjoyed this hotel. It is a bit like a B&B in that the family live in house. But they do so charminglyly and unobtrusively. It is simple and laid back - just like the Thungwualaen Beach area. We get the feel this area is a weekend beach retreat for Thai people from around the region. So during the week it is very low key. This makes a pleasant change from so many ...

After a busy training in Bangkok and a relaxing week in Koh Tao, me and wifey stayed at this resort for a stopover. The resort is relaxed...not luxury....but is very comfortable and cozy...we had the deluxe villa ...after experiencing Bangkok and Koh Tao...this seemed like a bargain...this is obviously because Chumphon is not a hub for tourists...the town does not even...

Very nice staff, very nice settings. However it's quite far from chumphon (45mins drive) which we didn't realise. Perfect for an older couple who want to be pampered. the staff really were some of the best. Should think so the amount you're paying them.

A classic style Thai hotel in Chumphon. Basic, but very clean & with nice staff. Very close to the train station and night market. For the price, it's perfect. A/C and fan were good. Bathrooms were newly renovated. Filtered water machines are in the hallways. Instant coffee and cookies were provided in the morning, but there are also many restaurants and cafes within a...

We spent one night at Saphli Villa Beach Resort. We were self driving our way down from Hua Hin to Krabi. It was a little difficult to find and 1 expect getting to this place is best from Chumphon. It is located right on the beach. We were the only guests as it was midweek, and the fantastic beach was deserted. The bungalow was large, clean and modern. The views of the...

Chumphon is very much a 'pass through' town for tourists who are passing through for the ferry port to and from the three islands of Koh Toa, Koh Phangyan and Koh Samui. For this reason, there isn't much in the way of attractions for visitors of very interesting or luxurious places to stay. We were looking for the same as most people passing through Chumpon...a cheap a...

Booked for 3, stayed for 3 more. Absolutely perfect location n the beach, centrally in the village. Bungalows are renovated, so they are good as new. And the little details the staff add on, flowers etc.. Will recommend and will stay again when in Chumphon.

What a surprise treat this place was. Way better than expected. It’s a little way out of Chumphon town in the jungle with a river running passed the rear of the bungalows. Very private, all scrupulously clean and well maintained. The hosts were soo friendly and sorted out ferry tickets for us plus provide pushbikes as well as motorbikes for hire. The breakfast was th...

Palm Sweet Resort (Terrace Suite) A comfortable retreat for a stopover on your way down south If you are travelling by car from Bangkok to the south of Thailand, be it to Phuket, Krabi or Trang on the Andaman coast or to Ko Samui, Hat Yai or Songkhla on the Gulf of Thailand, you'll likely want to break your journey midway. Located five to six-hours drive away from Ba...

We stayed at Buadara resort as a stopover between Koh Tao and Bangkok as our flight from Chumphon to BKK was very early in the morning and the ferry would have arrived too late to make the trip in the same day. The resort is somewhat dated but it has everything you need for a short stay.

The owner provided me blanket.pillow and a soft mattress while waiting to be checked in. The room are clean and it works. Staff are helpful . The hotel is centrally located near the local market and its 500 meters from the Bus station and 900 meters from the train station. Will definitely recommend any travellers to this hotel.

Room is clean with airco, bed is hard. Shower has no ventilation and hot. Room is ok but not the level for 50 euro. Construction going on, so garden is not really useful. Location is near to the airport. But there is no beach and access to the sea is almost impossible. Staff are very friendly and helping. But owner is very greedy! She charged us 300 bath to drive...

Very nice bungalow in a lovely garden around the pool, furnished with care and beautifully decorated and very comfortable bedding clean (rare in thailand .....). i really enjoyed my stay in tanisa resort. the room was spacious and the toilet huge, with a bathtub and a standing shower area. buffet breakfast is provided every morning. my room came with a small verandah. the room comes with a small writing area, a 32" lcd tv, a small wardrobe and a mini bar refrigerator. i was really impressed with the bathroom because it's rea...

Very nice and quiet place. The owner and his family did everything to make the guest happy. They sorted out my troubles with a boat ticket. It is a little bit away from restaurant, but own offers to drive me. I was tired, so they went to a restaurant and bought me dinner to serve in my room. Next day he drives me to the train station. everything for free, it was a part...

arrived here midnight after a 8 hour train journey and what a nice suprise, really nice rooms, with everything in it you want and it all works perfect, we were offered breakfast at baht per person and it was the best 3o baht ive ever spent in thailand, nice buffet breakfast in a nice dining room all the windows were open so we had a cool breeze coming through, the first...

So glad I chose to stay here. I wanted a place close to the train station and this was in walking distance, although I took a scooter taxi, 100bht. Lots of street food vendors close by. Rented a scooter (low on gas, yikes) and easy to get to Thung Wua Laen Beach (hotel provides nice area map), great lady does massages (1st star on the map, across the street). I lik...

I think this hotel is a little underrated, as very clean and tidy, nice seating area and bar, staff and owner very friendly, hot shower very good, 5 mins walk to train station, food to suit all tastes within 5 mins, good internet, room fan only so can be a bit stuffy but for 5 quid this place is awesome, thanks,

If I could get this room for 50-100 baht cheaper, it'd be just right! We're backpackers touring SE-Asia on a budget for the past 6 months. Chumporn being a rather non-touristy city, we were expecting and hoping to find some much cheaper accommodation. That said, we were still satisfied with the actual hotel room. Very spacious and clean AC room with wooden furniture...

this place is a must see. Tom and is family are simply the best host ever. they make you feel home. a beautiful peacefull place not so far from places to visit. Tom advices you so good and is so friendly. you can just chill as well. a quiet place far from downtown and really close from the national park and viewpoints.

We booked for one night and extended our stay for 2 weeks - fan room. We really enjoyed being there because it was quiet (June is the low season and it is not very hot). The rooms are very clean, A/C and fan work well. Shower has cold/hot water. Not many English channels on the TV, wifi is very fast. If it rains a lot there will be frequent power cuts. Bicycle/scoote...

I had a very nice stay at the Natcha Guest House. Despite some reports of it being hard to find, I took a motorbike taxi's a few times in Chumphon to the hotel and the drivers all new where it was. Rate for motorbike taxi seems to be 30B anywhere in Chumphon town. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful from the moment I arrived. She was kind enough to give me ...

the ferry was mainly used by locals and in order to transport food and other things. We slept in kind of a dorm with Aircon, beds were a bit hard but ok. the ferry arrived at 4.30 but we rested in the dorm till 6.00 with no problems. i would go with it again

The hostess is very welcoming & looks after her guests impeccably. The property is surrounded by lovely gardens, the seperate rooms have a kitchen, veranda with large table & chairs, perfect for relaxing on, overlooking a large fish pond. The room was immaculately clean. The resort is situated half way between the city & beaches. Next to the property is a lovely coun...

A little far from Chumphon town - not walking distance. Couldn't get a ride to town so decided to walk. Told it was 3 kms but at least that to the first major road. Luckily enough a lovely lady stopped and offered us a ride. Love the great hospitality. Took us right into Chumphon town. Transfer to Chumphon ferry to catch the boat to Koh Tao by a lovely gentleman ...

As Chumphon is the gateway to Koh Tao for me, chumphon Gardens is a good reference for 1-2 days. Good value for money. Nice huge room and breakfast for baht 70. Its thai breakfast, but okay. The bed was not so comfortable, but anyway i had a good sleep after jetlag from Europe three days ago.very convenient to railway station. Only about 7 minutes to work, if it doesnt...

we booked a "deluxe" room, it was certainly not deluxe. the room itself was ok - clean and very big with a/c, wifi and a tv. the bathroom was disgusting. the grout on the tiles was black and looked like it hasn't been cleaned since the hotel was built. having a shower was a depressing task! chumphon itself is only worthy of a stopover enroute to ko tao. there is not a ...

The location of the property is right at the ferry port to Ko Tao. There are restaurants with good and inexpensive food and a grocery store right around. Room and bathroom were very good for the price. There was a wardrobe, a fridge, a desk and outside on the terrace there was a seating area. Everything was spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable and the air-conditio...

Not a bad hotel right in centre of town, handy for access to railway. Rooms and hotel slightly dated and majority Thai guests, but pretty good hotel with comfortable beds. Just beware if walking to hotel from Railway, there's no English signage on Hotel. Good WiFi and an inclusive breakfast.

I loved my stay here. The owner dis everything to make our stay here the best. We stayed only one night before heading of to the islands. And the owner took care of the ticket and pick up. And he even lent us an scooter for free to get to the atm. And breakfast was included. Would stay here again

We've phoned the hotel for our late arrival and the receptionist was greeting us with a warm and friendly welcome. The room is quiet and equipped with working air-con, the bed is big very comfortable, the shower has warm water and good strength of water. The breakfast is served by the employees. Some might say it's small portion but it refillable so it maintains fresh...

5-star hotels in Chumphon

As a guy who works in large Asian polluted cities, my idea of a getaway is solitude, and a bit of peace and quiet. That’s exactly what you get at Sara Resort. Peter the manager of the place describes it as a ‘nothing resort’ yet don’t be fooled by the nothing. Everything can be arranged, at Sara resort sightseeing tours, kayaking, and boat trips around Chumphon, no pro...
Traveler impressions of Chumphon
Surprisingly complete city on the way from north to south (or to or from the islands). Who knows what they were thinking when they "planned" the road system but hey, when visiting it's just a freaky extra.
There are boats going to different islands from here, so if you fancy going there it is convenient to get there from here.
Chumphon is a quieter "country town/city" suitable for a stop on the way north from the resorts of Phuket, Samui etc down south.
Great stop off point before going to the islands - lots of nice resonable places to eat, drink and shop.
Nice lively small town. Nothing in the town as far as old architecture ormsuch, but nice to walk at the markets and such.
It is obvious that Champion is one of those places that people pass by to go to nicer beaches like those of Koh Tao.
Great place really. Lovely tree-lined avenues on the edge of town. Most Thai cities look near-enough identical to each other but Chumphon has real character.
Chumphon itself is not a tourist area and any tourists we did see were in transit. One night stay is plenty enough to wander about, see the smallish night market, find a bar and head back to the hotel to rest for your onward journey.
Small city but Nice location of the beach for scuba or snorkel as people is very friendship and seravel of sea- food
Gate to the South of Thailand - this peaceful city located in the middle between Andaman and Gulf of Thailand with many tourist attractions hidden for discover.
Nice town to drop by a day or two if you on the way to Bangkok or Hua Hin from the southern Thailand
Friendly atmosphere with friendly people...great taste of local delicacies with great restaurant...a MUST to visit and stay for relaxation.
Good place for stopover. Hotels are inexpensive and of good quality. Prices for food and shopping less expensive than on the beaches.
"Lovely hotel and service with a smile" "Lovely hotel and service with a smile" "Lovely hotel and service with a smile"
Chumphon is, in my opinion, a transit city. People that are going somewhere else stop here for the day to rest.
Very quiet town. Suitable for seminar group. Not much activities outside hotel. Not developed for tourist yet.
A typical Thai small town. Not many attractions in the town itself (it is also a long, long way from the beach).
There are some good spots hidden away from tourists in the city and nearby. There are beaches close by, good shopping outlets, Tesco, Big C, shopping mall and some good thai night life if you know where to find it.
Although not known for its gold courses, there are 2 very nice courses available to play nearby. The Novotel 9 hole course 077 529 529, is very scenic with good clubs available for rent and weekly specials.

We are from Hong Kong and happy to visit Thailand cause they are friendly. We had a good fishing experience got a lot of fish. I really like this hotel. The room is so nice and big. Easy to find the hotel and great for traveler. Breakfast is small but good enough with this promotion price. Baan Sipsong Panna is located near a main road, so there is a little bit of noise at times, but frankly nothing that really bothered us.
