Chalicha Resort
Muang Chumphon,Chumphon - View on map
"After a busy training in Bangkok and a relaxing week in Koh Tao, me and wifey stayed at this resort for a stopover. The resort is relaxed...not luxury....but is very comfortable and cozy...we had the deluxe villa ...after experiencing Bangkok and Koh Tao...this seemed like a bargain...this is obviously because Chumphon is not a hub for tourists...the town does not even have a cinema...but..as the friendly staff at this resort gave us complimentary bicycles to explore town..i discovered that this was the most "Thai" experienced i had ever had...Bangkok is crazy...and while Koh Tao is beautiful and relaxed...many businesses there are run by foreigners catering to foreigners...that is all cool...but gets a little boring....Chumphon was real Thailand and i liked it...Papa Seafood by the train station is great along with the cheesy local middle aged musicians playing Thai pop songs of old..anyhow back to the Chalicha resort...i like it and next time would love to spend more time here..."

A-Te Hotel Chumphon
Muang Chumphon,Chumphon - View on map
"I was reluctant to book a hotel in Chumphon in the city center as, it is, obviously, a beach destination, but being there only for 1,5 days and being the beach destination hotels around 15 kms away from the city we prefered to stay there. The hotel is right in the city center, close to the fresh market. It is small but clean and tidy. Rooms are quite clean and clearly disinfected. Views form the room are inexistent as this is a city hotel, so dont expect any views. Mattress is really hard as well as the pillo, but they changed them the 2nd night. Air conditioned worked as you are living in an iglu sorrounded by penguins and they have to fix it too, as it was extremely cold. Breakfast is nice, short limited choices, but way for me, more than enough and you can order more if you wish. The staff at the reception were courteous and really nice with us, helped us in everything we asked them for. SAme street has a couple of interesting bars, nothing notorious or glorious, but at least to listen some music and have some comfort food and drinks. Chumphon itself has nothing at all to see unless the Museum (closed mondays and tuesdays) a couple of view points and some temples. Fresh market is like any other market in Thailand at any other city Night market is as such because iis full of vendors but is not closed to traffic and is really difficult to move around There is a big shopping center but we didnt use it. COVID also doesnt help much as usually there are plenty of tourists that use Chumphon as a stop to catch the ferry to the islands, but these days is quite empty and some business and shops are closed. In brief, the hotel is cheap, clean, comfortable and staff is nice at least to our extend and were able to suit all our needs. "

The Beach Resort & Residence
Pathio,Chumphon - View on map
"We are from Hong Kong and happy to visit Thailand cause they are friendly. We had a good fishing experience got a lot of fish. The owner is very friendly, they allowed us to cook our own Chinese cuisine . The manager is very helpful n English speaking, other staff are very friendly too, but can’t speak too much English. The whole apartment is very new only established eight months . It will be fine if your last day of the trip is by plane Since they are Quite remote but close to the airport. They can arrange pick up from the airport to the hotel ."

Nana Beach Hotel
Pathio,Chumphon - View on map
"We stayed at the Nana Beach four years ago and little has changed there or in general at this beach area near Chumphon. A beautiful swimming pool just across the road from the beach is a rare luxury in Thungwahlaen, and it is kept spotless. The gardens are constantly being tended and this gives the hotel a wonderful lush feel to it. we were a little disappointed with the breakfast this time, there's plenty of it but the fruit in particular was mainly unripe, but lots of other choice. The main menu is of good variety and quality and it is no more expensive than most of the little Thai eateries dotted along the beach. Overall we love this part of Thailand and almost certainly will be returning to the Nana Beach next year. Ooh, but watch out for the sandflies!!!"

Sara Beachfront Boutique Resort
Pathio,Chumphon - View on map
"As a guy who works in large Asian polluted cities, my idea of a getaway is solitude, and a bit of peace and quiet. That’s exactly what you get at Sara Resort. Peter the manager of the place describes it as a ‘nothing resort’ yet don’t be fooled by the nothing. Everything can be arranged, at Sara resort sightseeing tours, kayaking, and boat trips around Chumphon, no problem. The magic of the resort though is its family feel and the fact that your pretty much left alone, the pool is amongst the finest in Chumphon province, and from it, you can view fisher-folk and the Thai wildlife, going about their business, sea eagles, spoonbills, squirrels, monkeys, shell fish, etc. The rooms are very large, with excellent facilities, I was there with a young family and they all had a good time. All in all it’s an enjoyable place to unwind for a few days with a glass of wine or a beer or two and escape the madness and vehicles of city life. "

The city is served by Chumphon Airport, which has recently seen a major expansion and hosts flights from regional and budget carriers from Bangkok.

There are several hotels and resorts dotting the shoreline along the famous Hat Thung Wua Laen (Running Bull Beach). This beach is one of the most popular in the city, and happens to be the perfect destination for beach goers who also want to experience some of the dinning and nightlife scenes for which this area is so well known.

Sai Ri Beach is where the Prince of Chumphon Shrine is located, which is exrtremely sacred for the people of this and neighboring provinces. The shrine stands facing the sea, and nearby there is a historical museum complete with artifacts and exhibits.
