we changed hotels in daegu - before we were at the exco, which was completely out of the way, when we moved to the eldis regent, it was so nice to be close to downtown, to one of the markets as well as other attractions and shopping. this hotel's selling point is location, location, location. the knowledge of english of the staff was not great, but they were smiling and eager to please. this hotel caters more to asians then english speaking clientele. the bathroom was missing a shower door, which was a bit of a negative. we did not eat at the hotel (they only offered breakfast buffet i think).i rated food dining as poor as there was no option to say n/a.

Fantastic location. Only a few minutes' walk from the main shopping area, restaurants and cafes and the Oriental Medicine Museum and market. We really liked the room design and décor. Beds were very comfortable. The breakfast buffet is excellent, with a huge variety, including a good selection of fresh fruit, something which is often in short supply in other hotels in Korea. A vegetarian sandwich snack option would be welcome in the bar. Other than that, our only other criticism relates to the Wi-Fi in the room, which was very slow and kept dropping out. From what I've seen, Novotel is easily the best hotel in Daegu and we will definitely go back again.

We have stayed at this hotel many times. We love it. Sadly it was booked recently and we had to stay at another hotel in Daegu - it made us appreciate Sono even more. The staff is friendly and hard working. The rooms are cute, clean, and comfy. The hotel is near the metro and lots of places to eat and enjoy. We highly recommend!

One of the best hotels I have stayed in South Korea. Perfect location - situated right in shopping, restuarant area with subway a few minutes walk. Excellent facilities like cool Android phone chargers provided, lots of room, cool TV, etc. Highly recommended in Daegu. Pay bit more but very much worth it.

This is first time stay over at Daegu. The staff is very helpful and speak English well. The bed is comfortable and the room is fairly large. Everything is really clean and modern looking. The bathtub is big and great for a relaxing soak. This hotel is close to two different stations and many shopping areas.” Good for business as well as individual traveler

I visited this hotel second times. This time,my fight was morning. I asked call a taxi bell desk staff. He deal with my request in English and smoothly. Room was cleaned and very comfortable room. Really awesome hotel with great staffs. I'm very recomend this hotel to staying in Daegu. I'd like to stay here again...

This is the best hotel in Daegu. When I come to Daegu I always stay in this hotel. It is in a great spot. I often go to the KNU and this hotel is a great place that is not too far. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby and Costco is a short taxi ride away. I would stay here again and again. you really should give it a try.

I stayed here for 2 weeks. Location wise - it is great. Less than 200 meters from the nearest train station; screen golf/baseball right next door; various restaurants and coffee shops nearby. Catholic church 400 meters away. Good neighborhood to jog around. Another plus - visiting baseball teams playing against the Daegu team stayed at the hotel while I was there (mid...

Catholic church 400 meters away. Good neighborhood to jog around. Another plus - visiting baseball teams playing against the Daegu team stayed at the hotel while I was there (mid-late August). Gym is sufficient unless you're trying to get huge while you are staying at the hotel. There is a small indoor golf driving range at the back of the gym. My only complaints are that my room did not have a bidet, the safe was broken for the first couple of days, and that it is relatively overpriced. Daegu isn't known for its luxurious hotels, but for $150 a night over there, I expect more. It could at least include breakfast.

The staff of the hotel is really nice and helpful but doesn't speak english. it wasn't a problem for us since we arranged everything we wanted. I'm also really satisfied with the housekeeping of the hotel. They're really fast and the rooms are always clean. They changed the bed sheets daily which I was not used to at all! The reception staff even did our laundry for free. Overall: Great staff.

Best Location! Best host! Best hostel! Love Daegu and Midtown Hostel very much! You must can get a lot lovely thing on the trip. And this hostel can get everything you need! The host was so nice and kindly to treat. We were so appreciated to he who help us. You must will get the best trip in Korea!

I often read reviews and pictures to made my decisions in past and turn out to be a Motel where most people visit for one night stand type. My target area is around 수성구 황금동 so Grand hotel or Inter Vergo is not suitable for me. Ive searched using 3 different apps for my stay and found this nice, quite and private place “Happy House”. It was very convenient location for me since it’s located within my old neighborhood. This “officetel” or “apt” had everything I needed except fitness center. Simplest way to put it will be just think about you are having your own apartment during your stay! I will definitely stay here from now on and recommend to anyone who wants something different than usual hotel. Two thumbs up!

I booked this room for its price and it looked clean from online pictures. Upon arrival I was correct as both were as expected. The staff was friendly, it was clean, the price was below other options, it's directly linked to airport. My room looked out onto the runway where people were boarding for Jeju, Beijing or other destinations, but I never heard a plane or people from within the room. I don't think people could look into room, but I drew the curtain anyway. My only complaint was the location. It isn't far from subway lines or buses or taxis, but there is very little within walking distance to see or do. Nor is there much to do at the hotel itself. Overall, I would still recommend this hotel to stay and rate it highly.

A Motel location is good, convenience store, mini market restaurant is just few walk step, few minute walk to bus station and Dongdaegu Station. Room is clean and spacious, my booking is Deluxe room, a massage chair is provided, is a very good and valuable motel, will stay here again when travel against to Daegu.

The shower is powerful, the floor drains well. The Wifi is fast with multiple hotspots provide excellent coverage throughout the hostel. To added to the hostel's appealing, there is a roof-top space where you can chill out, some people use it to smoke, but I rather enjoyed having a beer there while listen to some music, very relaxing, oh, and there is a foot massager and back massager for you to use - for free. The location is very central, extremely close to train station and subway, have loads of shops, restaurants, bars around, while it sits in a side-alley so there is no excessive noise at night. The hostel is family operated, that means it is not as professional and stringent but has quite a bit more touch of hospitality and warmness, while the owners were never intrusive to your stay. This hostel is obviously not perfect, but it is already good enough and I see the potential that it will improve as the management gain more experience. Will visit again when I am in Daegu next time, and I shall recommend it highly to anyone.

This would be da best ever decision that we had made so far. Everything was exceeded our expectation with surprises ! We were expecting that hanok house would be very cold for us in the winter but no worries at all , room is well facilitated with heated floor and wall heater and toilet with bidet. We were on a mother and daughter trip to Daegu. The owner has taken very good care of us. He spent some time to go thru our itinerary and offer to give us a ride as and when he is free. We planned to return to Seoul on a Friday but we did not have a return ticket yet. We are thankful to him to had given us advice that Friday is peak for locals to travel back to Seoul and he even drove us to Daegu Station to purchase a return ticket in advance. The train on that day was so packed and many were standing all the way to Seoul. We had our seat and yummy snack treats too 😘😋 We were so blessed to have met him in Daegu. Without his help, we would not be able to make it to visit Otgol Village. He takes good care of the guests in all aspects like a family. We are looking forward seeing you again Mr Guma

Slippers and robes were also supplied. Water and additional beverages were complimentary in the in-room refrigerator every day. Additional water and beverages were available free of charge in the lobby. There was also a large flat screen TV and computer in the room. The tiled bathroom was clean and spacious, the shower worked great. The second floor restaurant was not open while I was there. It appeared to be undergoing remodeling. As a woman traveling alone, I felt safe at this hotel and in the surrounding area. I would definitely stay there again. It was a good value for the price.

Stayed at this hotel a long time ago, yet my memories are pretty good. Hotel was close by where I worked and it was clean. House keeping was done on time and I never had any issues with them. Room was big enough for 1 person, but I could not get their computer to function correctly with the TV. Overall, it was a good stay.

The staff was excellent! The room was nice, clean, and spacious. We were in Daegu for a triathlon and the location was convenient for our needs. The hotel is a bit difficult to find as it is tucked away on a small back street. Great for the price!

Good quality restaurants and easy take-out choices are steps away. Assistance in English by staff members was never more than a phone call away. Staff also provided detailed instructions on travel, customs, and made arrangements worthy of any high-priced hotel concierge. A day-rental of a car and driver was made possible, when all other efforts failed. While many customers take rooms at an hourly rate, there were also other week-long visitors present during my stay. Pizza Hut, 7 Eleven, Starbucks, Wild Rice, and other brand named eateries were very close. Post Office is around the corner. Taxi from DongDaegu train station was about $4 (4000 won). I will stay at the Como again anytime I'm in Daegu.

Great stay at Hotel Northtel. My girlfriend and I stayed in one of their "Special Rooms." The room was really well put together overall. It had a fun cocktail bar area that would have been made better if it had some cocktail bar basics (corkscrew, bottle opener, more cocktail glassware, etc). It had a fun cocktail bar area that would have been made better if it had some cocktail bar basics (corkscrew, bottle opener, more cocktail glassware, etc). The bathtub jacuzzi was a nice touch; however, it did leak a little bit (not a huge deal). Staff was helpful when needed but otherwise were not overbearing. The hotel isn't located close to Daegu's downtown area at all, but the neighborhood it's in is a fun spot. Lots of bars and restaurants that cater to a wide range of tastes. There's a movie theater and a mall close by if you're looking for something to do on a crummy day as well. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend it as a fun overnight getaway for couples.

Good location, easy to commute from the Daegu train station via metro, get down at Jungagno metro exit 3. Easy connection to Express bus to Gyeongju. facilities are super clean & staff very helpful & friendly. lots of eating & shops in the vicinity. Takes 15 mins to the airport without traffic & costs around 7000 won.

The sign for the guesthouse is really small (quiet easy to miss if you're not looking) and the guesthouse itself is on the 3rd floor of the building. I only stayed there for a night and from my short experience, it was a good place to stay; great value for money. The lady who runs the place was nice. I arrived early than the check-in period and she was kind enough to store my bags inside the guesthouse so that I can explore Daegu a bit. Breakfast was also served on time and was lovely. I also had the chance to use her foot massage, which was really good since my feet were hammered from all the exploring I did around Daegu. Location wise, in general, the guesthouse is really close to a lot of shops, restaurants, bus stops and the subway station. There's a lot going on in the area to keep you busy. I would recommend this guesthouse to any ladies who are planning to visit Daegu and are looking for a no-frill, cheap place to stay.

On naver maps they listed the Hanok & Spa as being in the same location as the style. I didn't know the 2 were associated, so I was walking around at night aimlessly. By chance I decided to go into the style and ask for directions--apparently CHECK IN and CHECK OUT is at the Style. The staff member led me to the Hanok & Spa which is located down the road a bit down some dark alleyway that would've been impossible for me to find without the staff member. Its about a 10-15 minute walk from Jungangro station, which is a bit far. Other than that, my stay was great. It just so happened that I was only staying 1 night, and no one had booked in the 4 person female room I chose. They upgraded me to a single room with a double bed. There was also only 1 other couple staying that night, so I pretty much got the entire hostel to myself. It was very clean, and the bathroom was very nice, spacious, and they even provided body wash, shampoo, conditioner, a towel, and a hair dryer. You need your own tooth brush and toothpaste. My stay there was very comfortable, and the staff member was very sweet and helpful. She was very talkative and sweet. She was Korean and claimed she couldn't speak English very well, but the staff there actually do have good English. In the morning breakfast is served at the cafe in The Style hostel. It's a simple toast and jam breakfast, and they also provided instant Korean mixed coffee and tea. They also have eggs that you can cook yourself on a mini burner. Overall, I had a great experience and definitely recommend anyone traveling to Daegu to stay here!

The staff here are very friendly and eager to help you out whenever you have any problems. Though the place is somewhere around the quiet street, but it is very convenient and near to tourist destinations. Overall, the place is clean and comfortable. Would recommend this place if you're looking for a place to stay at Daegu!

I had a delightful stay at the Mama Guesthouse. The house is in a quiet neighborhood; the room, although a little tightly-packed with beds, was well-kept; and the hostess was very sweet. I had a delightful stay at the Mama Guesthouse. The house is in a quiet neighborhood; the room, although a little tightly-packed with beds, was well-kept; and the hostess was very sweet. She speaks only a little English, but if she needs to she pulls out her smart phone and uses a translator. The bathroom facilities are adequate, though I couldn’t figure out how to work the shower. (There’s only a faucet on the floor with a shower nozzle attached; without the shower I sort of crouched down to rinse my hair under the water.) Most of all, I was pleasantly surprised by the full breakfast: toast, eggs, coffee, a hot dog, part of an apple, and a glass of milk. For an overnight stay like the one I had, it was perfect. My only complaint is that the information about the guest house listed on Agoda is completely false. The map makes it look as though this guesthouse is located near the Jungangno station on the red line. In reality, the Mama Guesthouse is about a ten-minute walk from the Myeongdeok station, which is one station south of Banwoldang on the red line. Get out at exit 2 and stay on the left-hand side of the street heading straight (East) from the exit. You’ll be following the route of the blue line (currently under construction). You’ll reach a large intersection. Keep going straight on the side of the road where you were. At this point, you’ll pass a station on the blue line. At the end of this block, on the side of the road where you are walking, is a church. Immediately BEFORE that church is a small alley. The Mama Guesthouse is down that alley, marked with a small yellow sign. Ring the doorbell at the gate. There will be a bus stop right just past this alley, next to the church. The stop is called Daebong Cheonju Church (대봉천주교회). It looks like buses 400, 402, 509, 704, and 730 all ride to this stop. When the blue train line is finished, the Mama Guesthouse will be a two-minute walk away from one of these blue line stations.

In Dec 2016, I have stayed at Onna for 5 nights that was definitely a great deal!!! :))) I traveled alone and came from Hong Kong. I have been Korea for 4 times. I stayed and experienced almost 10 guesthouses in Korea before and I highly recommend Onna for anyone who travels in Daegu, no matter how long you stay, it's absolutely your choice! The location is 15 mins walking from Jungangro Station, 25 mins walking from Daegu Station, 25 mins walking from Dongseongro there are many stores selling fashion items, coffee shops and restaurants. There are very crowded during weekends and you can see the nightlife of Korean. It's very convenient. The landlord of the guesthouse is nice and helpful. The environment and equipment are very clean! They provide breakfast; you can cook by yourself, but since my schedule was too tight and kept rushing I couldn’t enjoy the breakfast. It’s very important to have hot water during shower and it was good with that! I wasn’t disappointed and felt satisfied with my stay.

The host is very friendly also speaks very decent English and can help you with attractions. The Bad: This place is a bit hard to find and Taxi's won't go down it's street. It's also on the third floor of a building. Furthermore, there is no real privacy. The owner/host is rarely there. When we arrive we had to call her to let us in and check us in. The Ugly: This Guesthouse is very much like you are crashing at someone's house. The place was messy in some parts and dirty in others. The bathrooms are disgusting. I'd recommend you bring your own slippers and wet wipes if you are sensitive. We stayed on the second floor and there were no lights up the spiral staircase. I am a pretty relax and understanding guest. All I really need is a nice, clean, safe place to crash in a central location. Unfortunately, the unclean state of the guesthouse overshadows the positives.

I could hear footsteps in the hallway, but after I closed the inner door, I couldn’t hear any noises from outside. In the morning, I walked to Dongdaegu Station after checking out. It’s a 20-minute walk, but it’s a very straight walk. You don’t have to turn left or right the entire way. I had a rolling suitcase and duffel bag, and had no problems getting to the station. I would definitely stay here again the next time I fly in to Daegu!

This would be da best ever decision that we had made so far. Everything was exceeded our expectation with surprises !

I booked this room for its price and it looked clean from online pictures. Upon arrival I was correct as both were as expected. The staff was friendly, it was clean, the price was below other options, it's directly linked to airport.

This hotel feels a bit down on its luck, but it's still a clean, solid non-love motel option for Daegu. The location is excellent - - a short walk from the subway station, and I feel like we were a 6,000 won cab rode from anywhere we wanted to go. One peeve... It's an in house coffee shop and we never seemed to be there when they were open (not the hotel's fault, obviously!).

Traveler impressions of Daegu
The night view of Daegu from Apsan park is totally amazing! But remember to double check the time of the cable car or you'll have to walk down the mountain!
Nice helpful staff at the tourist info center at Daegu International Airport! She helped me a lot with my journey and saved a lot of my time figuring out transportation! We went to Dongwhasa (the biggest temple in Daegu) in Palgongsan (Palgong mountain), accessible from city, quiet temple with few tourists, 2500 entrance fee with a vegetarian lunch.
If you have time, weather permitted, I would recommend you climb the mountain.
If you travel Daegu, you gotta stop by DongDung-Ro where youngsters gathers for dining and shopping at a time.
You can go shop around from cheap clothings to luxurious stuffs at department store. Then you eat at many gourmet places there. At night time, you can easily find to drink such as pub, lounge or even korean style bar with cold MakGulRi! Enjoy Daegu and enjoy Korea!
Daegu is a place where things are slightly cheaper from Busan and Seoul (the capital state). The clothings, the food, generally the stuffs are much cheaper and suprisingly much friendly.
Its slightly different from Seoul as its a sub-urban city where you can see both the province and the city life are like. I guess if you are a food lover, Daegu is not a bad choice to find good food in the market such as the Seomun market, you can buy really cheap korean side dishes there for as low as 4sgd when its cuttlefish and preserved prawns when in Singapore, seafood prices are pretty costly. Other than that, shopping in Daegu is like a mini Sincheon back in Seoul. They have the branded goods and shopping malls like hyundai departmental stores which has affordable clothings during sale period. Other that that, take subway trains if possible as they are slightly cheaper than in Seoul and since they only have 2 lines to operate. Oh! Lastly, I couldnt find a money changer there, so its best that you change enough instead of swiping your card (like I did, as it will impose a fee charge on your bank). Thank you for reading! Hope you guys will enjoy Daegu as much as I do if you are going! P.s. actually I think 3 days 2 nights is good enough just that there isnt the option of choosing 3 days 2 nights. (L Cheers!
A very crowded city, with lots of different kinds of shops for shopping, different kinds of restaurant for dining.
This should be the second Seoul. As the things you want to find in Seoul, you can find it here.
It's a fun place. The shopping is really good here, but it's more the atmosphere. It's a very busy place and it's lots of fun.
The people in Daegu are very friendly. Also, so much stuff is seemingly much cheaper in Daegu than elsewhere. I found food to be very cheap. It's a great place to have a fun weekend.
If you are making a special trip there just to shop, stay in seoul then. THe price difference in things are not big, with the transport time and cost, save the effort to travel to and fro.
This city of over 4 million people has a wide variety of religions, schools, and expats. Despite this, there is no cosmopolitan feel here.
Highrise apartment buildings dominate the scenery, much like the Bronx, and foreign tourists should be self-sufficient.
It is another Korean city with not much characteristics. Weather can be very hot in summer. Subway connection is very limited to only part of city.
Daegu is a hot and humid city, so it's best to travel when the summer heat wave is not taking its toll on the people.
If you're into hiking, Palgong-san and Ap-san are the two main mountains where the majority of hiking takes place. There are quite a few ancient temples nestled around the city, as well, but you might need a guide to bring you to them. The downtown areas in Jung-gu and Suseong-gu are rife with restaurants and bars. Daegu really is the city that doesn't sleep, so you can expect the nightlife to extend well into the morning hours.
There is some really good shopping areas in the underground shopping district. The nice thing is that even if its raining you can still enjoy yourself.
We went to the Daegu Arboretum and found it to be very nice and relaxing. Back in the States, we live in a rural area and after being here 10 months the noise of the city has really started wearing on me. It was nice to see birds and green grass without horns blaring in the background for a change.
We didn't get to see much of the city but we found it friendly to foreigners and easy to get around.
It was a short visit. First time in the city center. I was in town for my son's wedding. When we weren't involved in wedding festivities we spent much time walking Dongseongno area, including the Seomun Market.
Most enjoyable For early March the weather was comfortable.
Daegu really isn't a city you want to visit. If you will live in Korea for a period of time, it's good because it's inexpensive.
As a place to visit during a vacation, there's nothing really to draw you here. Again, however, for the resident, there are good services and transportation is good, both around the city and to other Korean cities. Daegu is located essentially in a bowl, surrounded by low mountains. This causes the winters to be colder and the summers hotter and more humid than might be expected. The mountains do offer some good hiking and living near the city, not in the city, will give a sense of living in the countryside. Good food and culture is hard to find, so a traveler should move on to Seoul, Busan, Gwangju, and/or Gyeongju.
The 2 nights there, we left hotel at 10am, return hotel at 4pm, as there is really not much sightseeing nothing to do,rather stay hotel and watch TV.
I didn't really go to a lot of the attraction during my stay in daegu as I planned most of my trip around food.
But the food I have to say were pretty good, especially the 'jim galbi' which I went to have twice. And I went to spa valley which is a place for outdoor water theme park and hot springs and it was pretty fun:) but overall I didn't see a lot of pretty attractions and there is not a lot of information for tourist as I feel like I were the only tourist there. It is quite difficult to find someone to help if you didn't know how to speak Korean.
Interesting place to explore. Some historical places of interest. Understand that there is a beautiful mountain worth visiting during winter time.
