As a whole, Desaru is a nice place for a short getaway as it is nearby home, Singapore. Just a 45mins - 1hr journey and especially good if u bring along young children as they tend to turn cranky if the journey takes long hours.
Interesting places to visit: Fruit Farm, Crocodile Farm, Ostrich Farm & Fireflies. There's also the Mini Zoo behind the Fruit Farm.
The only best thing is this resort got its own private beach, can walk can swim on the beach. Surrounding with many resort, if compare this resort is the best of all, if go to other resort maybe worst case.
A beautiful beach front that is best visited outside of the monsoon period that comes every November till February - and make the sea front very dangerous for all kind of sport and activities.
There ostrich farms where one can ride the ostrich farms, fishing villages, and prawn farms - all offering good quality seafood.
Desaru will developed in less than 5 years from now, until then, please consider other area if you really want to have your holiday worth every pennies you spend.
A small town quite far from the main city of Johor Bahru. Beautiful beach, clean and quite. Good for people who seeking for a quite place surrounded with nature.
Its definitely worth the stay and value for money. The location near the beach made it easier for my kids to have fun on the beach and even water playing area.
The surrounding of Desaru does not have much attraction. But there are still some attractions you could visit, fruit farm, ostrich farm and crocodile farm.
Desaru is slowly developing with more restaurants and resorts being built. It is a good place for families to gather and enjoy their time by the beach.
Very bad conditions of roads around the area. If you need to drive to Sungai Rengit district to enjoy seafood, use the alternative road along the beach.
DESARU IS FULL OF NATURAL LIFE AND NATURE. NICE FOR SIGHT SEEING AND NOT A MAN MADE BEACH. ALSO PLACE TO KEEP AWAY FROM STRESS LIFE LIKE BUSY TOWN.
if you are an environmentalist and love beaches..this hotel is meant for you. There is a new town nearby where you can find many local restaurants.
Most Visit: Ostrich Farm, Fruit Farm. Firefly tour is ok only but it's better to go there for seafood dinner 1st then board the firefly boatride.
Average beaches. Extremely overpriced restaurants. Our group of 14 adults went to a restaurant named Jade Garden Seafood and were charged RM1755.
00 for dishes of seafoods.
Beach activities and for night entertainment can visit the beach hut which located at the beach. For dinner there are 3 restaurant of choices.
Resort was not well maintained. The water in the resort playgrounds was so messy and i could see the food is floating around in the water.
My kids were literally scared of going into the water. But the beach was good. Breakfast is not good and the restaurant is not maintained neatly. flies are all over the place.
Desaru is a good get away for family outing not far from singapore. it can be a simple drive by car and getting around desaru is easy.
the locals are friendly and can seek their advise on routes to attractions. Overall was a nice trip.
Good for a short weekend gate away with young children. Maybe have a promotion for the frequent people who is regular to the resort.
Maybe discount would be nice. Otherwise OK
its good stay for 1-2 nights but not for more as three's nothing much to do.. not much places of interest and not much shops around.
VERY RELAXING PLACE AND NICE BEACH. HOTEL LOCATION IS OUT OF THE BUSY TOWN.PULAI RESORT AND SPA NEED TO UPGRADE THEIR MANTANANCE.
Fruit farm with mini zoo is educational and eye opening, the amazing crocodile farm with chicken feeding demo were impressive.
The short stretch of the 4km costal breach allow me to clock an 8km run on a fairly comfortable sandy ground.
It's a small town with mostly populated by the locals. A simple town. Time may pause for those who comes frm big city areas.
Getting around town will be difficult as there is a lack of public transportation.
Car is the most convenient mean to tour around Desaru, as there is no easy access to public transport (including taxi).
Seafood restaurants are mainly located at Sungei Rengit. Convenience stores and coffee shops can also be found at Sungei Rengit nearby the seafood restaurants. Bandar Penawar is more of local residential area with many shophouses there.
Bring lots of sun block or fun tan lotion whichever your choice and lay back to relax at the beach or by the pool.
Get a good book to read and perhaps some own booze for the nights. Nothing really happens here. There's a fisherman museum to visit but thats about all the sightseeing you going to get. There is a big major project on a 27 hole golf course and theme park underway but may take awhile before it is ready for the public. Meanwhile just chill at the beach or the pool bar.
Desaru indeed is a fantastic place to explore. Relax and play at the sands and beaches, you feel very comfortable.
The beach is nice and beautiful. The seafood dinner is nice and cheap (much cheaper compared to Singapore).
must try lobster and crab at a town near Lotus Desaru. Cheap and delicious. recommend the butter lobster.
morning can wake up early to see for the sun-up and night time can near the beach enjoy for drinking
There is little to see in Desaru itself, but Kota Tinggi is a fairly accessible daytrip destination.
