"It was great to be able to book a room for 1 night when most want more. The reception staff were welcoming, the room was very spacious, good local beer and a lovely breakfast. Parking is limited to 4 spaces but there is plenty of street parking. The hotel is on the main road so do expect some noise. The facilities were adequate and everything was clean, with additional covid secure efforts."

"Very pleasant overnight stay. Great location right in the centre of town with a convenient private car park. The room was well appointed, although the four-poster bed was a bit ostentatious for my tastes which is the reason I've given 4 stars for value. The other thing that was odd was that the room was curiously short of power sockets (if you wanted to plug something in you needed to unplug something else). The bathroom was a good size, with the all important powerful shower, however the floor in the bathroom was noticeably slopey, but I guess that (along with narrow corridors and bendy stairs what you get with a hotel in an old building. We made use of the Bar in the evening, and their selection of beers from the very local brewer was excellent. Breakfast was also very good being cooked freshly on demand. I'd be happy to recommend and stay at the Bear again."
