"Our room was very nice thanks to a major renovation of the hotel in 2010. The breakfast buffet was ok but the Vietnamese food at dinner was low quality. It was our worst food in a month of travelling, and there is really no alternative to eating in the hotel in Dien Bien Phu. I suggested to the Deputy General Manager that they put in a limited menu of Vietnamese/western food at the more intimate and friendly coffee shop in the grounds near the hotel entrance, but he seemed to think their current cavernous, overlit dining room and poor food is ok. "It's a Vietnamese style hotel which actually resembles Chinese. The room is huge and the lobby is too. It's close to major tourist locations but far from restaurants and other local venues. If you can speak Vietnamese, it would be great to stay here. Yet, no motobike rental service really disappoints someone who travels alone like me. The restaurant in the hotel was not bad but a bit expensive at the local standard. "
